Having three hungry kids my wife and I pulled in to what was seemingly the only halal option off the 99 frwy in Barkesfield.(Called the«halal» kabob spots but all said that only their lamb was halal). We were greeted by a small kitchen halal mexican grill. We order Carne asada burritos, tacos, sopes, quesadilla and hamburgers. All were very good. The kids loved the burgers. I loved everything else. The steak was crispy yet juicy and the tacos popped with flavor. Very spicy salsa, tasty guacamole. The sopes were especially delicious. Must stop for halal mexican !

Came back to this place to try out their halal Mexican food. The restaurant within the store is called El Dorado. The menu is small and simple, just 10 items. I had the carne asada tacos, my father had the carne asada taco plate(2 tacos, rice, and beans), and my son had the chicken taco. The asada tacos were pretty good, but I have definitely had better tacos. The chicken taco was horribly dry and pretty tasteless(pretty sure it was chicken breast), but if you drizzle it with red and green salsa I guess it would be ok. The rice and beans were just ok, a bit bland. While we were eating one of the guys came out and gave us a bit of guacamole for free(yay & cool!) and that was pretty good(not because it was free lol it actually tasted good). Since there are only a handful of halal restaurants in Bakersfield I will definitely be back to this place, God willing. I want to give some of the other menu items a try. I’d also like to state that the restaurant sells bottled drinks, there isn’t a soda fountain. There is a little seating area to sit and eat at, nice and cozy. The food here wasn’t really bad or awful, but I’ve definitely had better Mexican food. I was told the owners of this place(market/butcher shop/restaurant) are Yemeni/Arab & Mexican, I’d love to see some Yemeni/Arab food items on the menu, id love to try some Yemeni/Arabic food!
