With it being the only motel for miles my friends and I found ourselves here one night. Now I consider myself a sketchy hotel connoisseur. So let me tell you about my stay at the wills Fargo motel. The woman working the front desk was really friendly, even after we called and accidentally hung up on her. The main office smelt kind of weird but thankfully the rooms did not smell like that. We walked in to the room not knowing what to expect and… We were pleasantly surprised at how clean and safe it felt. No bugs, it was clean and very spacious. The tv was ancient but worked just fine. The only complaint I had about the rooms were the beds which were pretty stiff but it beats sleeping in the car that’s for sure. The bathroom was nice, everything worked fine but my friends could not figure out how to work the shower but I think that’s more on them than the shower. Overall it’s a nice enough place to stay for the night. 7⁄10 would recommend. Don’t be mislead by some of the bad reviews, don’t let them scare you away from a perfectly okay place to stay instead of driving the extra miles to find a different place.

I like this place. A bit rough around the edges; but, I like it! The front desk gentleman is very nice. He explained that they don’t like pets too much because the hair is too difficult to clean out of the bedspread and blankets. They have tile instead of carpets because it is easier to clean and easier to make sure any desert bugs stay out. They try really hard! Plus, this is the only game in town!

This is probably one of the worst hotels ive stayed at, and ive stayed at some pretty sketchy places. The bed was so creaky and uncomfortable it was impossible to get any sleep. The«heater» was literally a joke. It was a shoebox size personal heater unit on top of a table. As soon as you would open the door to come back inside the room would become damn near the same temp as outside and take forever to heat back up again. I had the heater on max and was so cold at night i had to put on my jeans and hoodie to stay warm under the covers. If i had known it was going to be this bad, i most likely would have just taken a nap and continued driving on to somewhere else.

I ended up staying here for two nights, my transmission broke down on the way to Las Vegas. The staff is super nice, Le and his wife. Hey folks, this is the ONLY motel in town, as all of the others have closed down. The motel is older, looks like it was fine in it’s hey day. The pool is kept very clean, although I didn’t partake. The rooms are the best that they can be, very clean, not the Marriott, of course, however according to the manager, most guests are there by default with car trouble. So, this is your only option and not a bad one. It’s clean, you could smell the bleach, and affordable, as well as close to all eateries, stores and gas stations, even the infamous«Alien» jerky and Giant Thermometer! If you are down to earth, this is an adequate place to stay, I had a fridge and microwave in my room, one thing is there aren’t very many plug outlets in the room, I did have to unplug the lamp to plug in the microwave. The motel is very safe and well lit at night. The management is always willing to help. Being the only option, it could be a lot worse.

I stayed in this hotel for four days while exploring the nearby desert. The place is clean enough and the staff was friendly. They have free WiFi access, but it only works at the«lobby». There’s also a pool, which was apparently operational, but I didn’t use it. There’s a lot of parking space and a surprising number of fast(and not so fast) food places around. The bathroom was clean, the water was plentiful and hot. The beds were a bit creaky, but that didn’t bother me. Now, when choosing to stay at a place like this, it’s important to take a few things in consideration: This is a small place, in a small town(Baker, 700 inhabitants) in the middle of the desert. IIRC, it’s the only motel left in town. The place is a bit dated and could use an overhaul, but it’s also clean and comfortable anough. Don’t come here expecting the amenities of a larger hotel, as you won’t find them. It’s a good place to rest overnight from a long drive or stay while you explore the wilderness areas around.

Obviously this is not an establishment set up for a posh vacation getaway… I believe previous reviews to be comparing major hotel expectations to a budget motel, in a very remote location which is ridiculous. This is the only motel on a long and lonely stretch of road and travelers are the better for it. We were camping in Mojave and due to heavy winds needed a building to sleep in for a few nights. The staff’s service was outstanding and accommodating. The bed was very comfortable, plenty of hot water, free WiFi, and hot coffee every morning. The room was clean, sheets pristine, everything worked, zero noise from the main thoroughfare — we slept great! Walking distance to a great Mexican restaurant, the General Store, and of course the Mad Greek.

Worst worst worst place! We had to stay here due to a blown tire. The tow truck dropped us here. It started with the most depressing motel office I have ever seen. But the young guy behind the counter was nice. Knowing that they are the only hotel in baker they charged 80.00 plus tax. The room is disgusting! Old stained sheets, chairs that have been ripped and rusty. No hot water in the shower. The hardware was loose and rusty. The tile floors were so dirty my feet were black in a matter of 25 minutes. The next day we asked for a late check out. Check out is normally at 11. We asked to stay until 12. Our car is still in the shop so we have no place to go. The older you man behind the counter said no. I have a 2 year old and my in laws that are 75 and 76. So now we are waiting outside on the curb for our rental car. He wouldn’t even let us wait in the front office. It is hot and dry. The fact that this man wouldn’t let us inside is beyond me.

We stayed here 4 nights while exploring Mojave National Preserve. Being that the other two motels shut down and this is all that was left, I was quite surprised how reasonably priced this place was. It averaged $ 60 per night. We are outdoorsie type people but don’t always prefer to sleep on the dirt. Hot showers, comfortable beds, a bathroom, and no critters are why we choose to stay at budget motels that surround the California deserts. If you just spent the weekend in Vegas at the Ballagio and your car broke down and you are forced to stay here, then you will hate it. There are no amenities here. Our room didn’t have a fridge or microwave, the wifi was spotty, and the pool was drained. This place is only for the four S’s. Sleeping, showering, shitting, and screwing. Our room was clean and comfortable. We didn’t have to wait too long for the hot water. We felt safe. The place is not sketchy. The owner and housekeeping ladies are friendly and nice. Bottom line is that I would not hesitate to stay here again. Baker doesn’t have much to offer, but this little hole in the wall motel is a definite positive.

This place will do in a pinch. Not the cleanest and not the cheapest. This is place was a crash pad when you are exhausted. Way over priced for a single person, single night $ 58 but it was a bed after a hard day in Death Valley.

Gave an extra star for keeping this sketchy old pit clean. At $ 65 a night it’s twice as much as it should be, but there’s no competition. The furniture is salvation army reject. No nightstand, no wall décor, no décor of any kind in fact. My first apartment out of high school was better decorated. It’s better than dying in a car crash die to lack of sleep, but you should consider sleeping in your car.
