YUM! Have been here twice and we got the same things because they were so good. Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Vindaloo. Saffron rice was pretty tasty with them too. More than enough for two plus leftovers for lunch tomorrow! Only detractors are that the host man seems pretty grouchy both times we were there, and I like spicy food, so I ordered a 6 on their 1 – 5 heat scale, but could still not really feel the heat. Still delicious though!

We’re always so conflicted about this place. While we agree it’s the best Indian food we’ve had in the area, the service is so dismal, we always swear we won’t return. Yet, we always do as it’s the best Indian food in the area. For the food alone, I’d give it 4 stars, but the service is so slow and indifferent, even when there is no one else in the place. We’ve waited 10 – 15 min for our drink orders. We’ve learned to order our appetizers with our drinks, then wait until those are brought before ordering our entrees, or else everything comes out together. We’ve learned to order our second drinks as soon as our first arrive, or we won’t be getting another round. Once, they brought the wrong entrée and when I said, «I’m sorry, but I ordered the chicken tikka masala»(I order the same thing every time) our waitress said, «no, you didn’t.» Sigh. We just went last night and once again swore we would never come again. I’m sure we’ll be back next month.

Not only is the food really good, they give you huge portions. So much that we took quite a bit home with us, then realized we were checking out of our lodging, catching the ferry and then flying home and had no way to heat it up. (I can’t believe I did this, but I couldn’t bear to throw this delicious food away) so I went back to the restaurant the following day and asked if they would be willing to heat it up for me. Eduardo was so sweet and helpful, he took the time to reheat everything(didn’t use a microwave which would have worked for me) and even reheated the naan in the oven. THEN, he repackaged everything and gave me napkins and forks and packaged it all up for me. As I sailed across on the ferry enjoying my meal for the second time, I silently thanked Eduardo again for his kindness and willingness to go well over any expectation I had. Amazing man and above and beyond customer service!

This place is great! A little upscale for Indian food but perfect for a date night when the regular Indian buffet is a little too casual for a special night. If you do want to taste a number of dishes(like what’s available at Indian buffets), I highly recommend the dinner for 2 special which came with samosa appetizer, 3 main dishes, rice, naan, and desert. They say it’s enough for 2 but the portions are pretty big and could easily feed 3 – 4 people. They also have a couple of tasty Indian beers on the menu. I didn’t expect to find good Indian food this far away from Seattle or Tacoma but this place can easily compete with those large city places. We will definitely be back here once we finish all the leftovers from our meal!

We were looking for a place with vegetarian options, and found this little gem. We really loved the food, especially the palak paneer. The only issue I had was that they were no longer serving lunch specials on Saturdays although it was listed on the printed menu(may have just changed that). And, I felt that there could have been more than 1 naan between the 4 of us. But, seriously, delicious!

Very impressed. As good as I have had in a long time. Favorites: Chicken Tika Masala and Lamb Korma. By far our favorite carry out in Bainbridge.

I have now been to the Spice Route about a dozen times, and I like it. I haven’t tried everything, I’m new to Indian food, so what I like so far is the Chicken Tiki Masala and the garlic naan. At some point I will probably stretch outside my favorites, but then again I really like this meal. I have tried some other things when I went with friends, but the Tiki Masala was so rich and flavorful, I just keep ordering it. And, come to think of it, I have favorites at lots of restaurants and I go to those restaurants specifically for that meal. So, maybe I’ll never try anything else… Yeah, I probably will because even when you love something it’s good to stretch. The service has been good each time I’ve been, the waitstaff has been friendly, and I think the restaurant it sweet. Just for fun there is a low table /pillow section if you want to be a bit more exotic. There are also booths.

We stopped in today, on 4th of July, for a late lunch/early dinner and we were not disappointed. In fact, I would go so far to say that today’s Indian meal was as good as the last Indian dinner we had in London — last week, and that was outstanding! Very kind and attentive host greeted us promptly and servers checked in just at the right moment a few times throughout and let us enjoy our meals. Perfect timing. We started with a couple Kingfisher beers and veggies samosa — lots of curry seasoning along with fresh peas and potatoes encased in a fried pasty. Very good and filling. Our entrees arrived shortly thereafter: mushroom matar, paneer masala, basmati rice and a side of pratha. Both entrees were rich and flavorful and enjoyed with both pratha and basmati rice and also experimented with the sweet and spicy(red and green) chutneys. We’ll definitely be returning and looking forward to discovering other items from their extensive vegetarian menu as well as trying out their tandoori chicken dishes.

The food was fantastic. We ordered the Lunch Special and everything was delicious! The Garlic Naan was awesome. The Mango Lassi, not so much. Also, the service was kinda slow. But the tasty food made up for it! Would definitely go there the next time we go to Bainbridge.

We decided to order from the only offering of Indian food on Bainbridge Island. The order was ready within 25 minutes and my wife went to pick it up. She was pretty vocal to me about the rudeness of customer service, but I was not there so I cannot comment about that. I did eat the food though, and I would say that it would sate my Indian food appetite for the time being, until I can get off the island for some place better. Nothing too exciting here folks, but better than the frozen Indian food meals(not better by much).

It’s taken a few months before I mustered up the energy to write this review. I’m of Indian origin, lived in the SF Bay most of my life, where there’s just killer amazing Indian food and I also know how to cook darn good homemade Indian — so I may be a bit biased… Seriously folks — this is bad Indian food — and I’m sorry to say this about a business that clearly needs some customers — ie the place was completely empty when I arrived… Dinner hours! I ordered food To Go for myself, since hubby was out of town traveling… Took the food home — appetizers old and sad. After eating the chicken curry — I was thinking, hmmm that was a bit funny tasting… and I thereafter got a lovely episode of food poisoning — which is REALLY hard to get w all the spices … Meaning, very old or bad meat!!! Turns my stomach just thinking about the meal I had. One star for the nice manager… even though he’s not Indian, seems likable enough — not sure who was cooking in the kitchen — but it didn’t taste authentic and mostly just tastes like old food! Everything else, including ambiance is just not good. I’m not sure how many of the places in this strip mall are making money during the week — hardly anyone is around… Big bummer :(

Wonderful menu of my favorite dishes! The chicken mahkni is amazing and the spinach naan would get Popeye’s vote! I was a little disappointed that their cheese naan was much more like a cheddar cheese quesadilla made from naan bread, though it was still tasty. One of the best places on the west side of the Sound!

This place is normally good but this time I went with my sister and we look younger than we actually are so the service is terrible. After a while we realized that we were just busy.

Five stars for the Korma… Service gets a 1 star. I have been served by the same guy twice and frankly he is a jerk. But I LOVE the chicken and the shrimp Korma, so I’m willing to look past this guy. I spose next time ill just get it to go. But seriously the food is excellent…

This is a great place to eat!!! Sadly it is in a location that makes it hard to see unless someone tells you directly where to go… But when you get there, every step was WELL worth it! Order the shrimp tikka masala! The creamy base is complimented so nicely by the shrimp and they seem to be open ALLTHETIME! Each of the menu items are a delicious surprise! The tastes of India right there in that kitchen

We had a pretty nice experience here. Escaped the Seattle crowds on Labor Day to head to Bainbridge island. This place is a little tricky to find. It’s inside the main mall complex. Go from the main gate and past the movie theater and up the stairs. The place was uniquely decorated with Indian Saris and adorable kids drawings. We asked a table outside and the waiter specially cleaned it for us, as it was raining before. It was just cool enough and we sat outside enjoying the gorgeous Switzerland like views of Bainbridge island. This place has pretty prime real estate. It was surprisingly empty when we arrived. But it was snack time at best(5pm). We just ordered chai and pakoras. The waiter ordered a mix pakora for us on request. He also brought a second round of chai refill, which was sweet. There was no rushing especially he knew that the bill was going to be small. Chai was tasty and so were pakoras. I’d go here again, just for the views and nice service.

Used to be better, but last night takeout was barely mediocre. Chicken tikka masala was normal and tasty, but the aloo ghobi and tandoori mixed grill both had the same sauce, which was unexpected since normally neither of these dishes is smothered in a sauce. Worse yet, the sauce tasted like pre-packaged Chinese sweet and sour sauce. Yuck! Guess I won’t be back.

It is a rare feat when I enjoy Indian food. It is probably the food that I am most picky about. This place exceeded every expectation and previous experience I have had in relation to Indian food. The food was fresh and delicious. The service? Just how I like it! Speedy and they only check in on you on occasion… Not every other bite. Distinctly one of Bainbridge’s little gems.
