The minute you walk in the door you will notice a difference. And while we aren’t the cheapest in town, the value you receive in our investment in you and our facilities is outstanding. We are fair, consistent, and honest. We have no long term contracts and all of our policies are made very clear at the point of interest or sale.

History

Established in 1978.

The original Bainbridge Island Racquet Club was built by local residents in 1978. The Club has been Bainbridge’s only indoor tennis facility ever since. In 1991, the Club was purchased by Seattle native Ted Eisenhardt and his wife Kellan. The Bainbridge Athletic Club was transformed from the Bainbridge Island Racquet Club in 2005 in order to provide Bainbridge Island with a full-​service club unique to our community. In the last 20 years, the Club has offered tennis programming for all ages, from 4 to 94, with a variety of teams for juniors and seniors, for men, women, mixed doubles, social events, competitive events, and non-​tennis events. Virtually all of the many accomplished Bainbridge High School players have come out of BAC’s programs. For many members, the Club is THE focal point of their social and athletic life. This is the BAC Team at our annual staff appreciation party in 2013. Bowling, pool, good friends and good times at The Garage. Our team works hard, plays hard (but appropriately), and enjoys each others company in and out of the club. They are the backbone of our business and some of the very best people you will ever meet!

I was a member for a number of years and for those folks looking for a wide range of opportunities (classes, equipment, personal trainers) this is a great place. The staff are helpful and friendly and the place is pretty well-​maintained (the steam room and/​or sauna in the men’s locker room seemed to be on the fritz somewhat regularly, but never for too long). As a single person with a primary interest in the weight room, the membership was a bit steep but I understand it’s hard to have different categories. A great place!

I can not say enough great things about this club and its incredible staff. I’ve lived on and off Bainbridge for many years and I always find myself coming back to this place. The gym is constantly adapting to new technology and trends as they become available, everything from new eco-​friendly treadmills to these insane ladder and rope machines that i’ve never seen in any other gym. They have everything you need to craft an all around workout or new things to spice up an old routine. Not to mention, their personal trainers are incredibly knowledgable offering great personalized workouts and lifestyle tips to keep you healthy long after you leave the gym.
There are also a huge variety of activities offered at this club, from incredible tennis facilities, the local favorite pickle-​ball (try it if you haven’t!), daily yoga classes, diverse bootcamps, basketball courts and even some fun camps for the kids. So if you’re looking for the best DO IT ALL club, there is no better place than the Bainbridge Athletic Club.
And finally, the management and staff are just the friendliest people around, this club is a great place to get to know people if you’re new to the island and i’m sure they’ll make you part of the family in no time.

Love this place. One of the best Gyms. With my travel schedule I really like that you can sign up for daily, weekly or monthly increments, without the annual commitment that a lot of gyms require. Drop in for all kinds of awesome classes, the teachers have all been great. One of the perks is they have both a dry and wet sauna in the locker rooms.

The first time I took Suzanne’s spin class I thought I would DIE. I was sucking wind and sweat was literally leaping off my body in all directions. An hour spin class — this is CRAZY — who does this? I was trying to get in shape for bike season so I thought I’d give the spin class a try for one week. During the first class I thought, who needs to be in that much shape anyway? Funniest thing happened after class though, I felt GREAT. I mean like 20-​years younger great. That got me hooked.
I’ve been taking the class twice a week for seven months and have lost 10 pounds, toned my legs like you read about and gotten in kick-​butt bike shape. Now, biking to open water swimming sounds like a good idea, or biking all my errands for a day or any physical activity — I have been shocked at the level of fitness I’ve achieved by just adding two spin classes a week.
Suzanne’s class is fantastic. She’s a great spin instructor and THE reason I have a membership to BAC — in fact, if I do nothing else I still feel like the dues are well worth this class. I highly recommend Suzanne’s spin class. (Facilities are great though — good weights, yoga… I may have to branch out.)

This review is for the X-​press gym and the entire BAC staff.
Nothing but underwhelming service, lack of attention to detail and favoritism based on who the owners kids go to school with.
Kept my membership through a ton of b.s. and finally could not take it any longer. Massive rate changes in membership. Massive increase in locker rental, poor management and lah-​ti-​dah attitude about it. Tried to quit 2 times before someone (hourly employee) finally told me I had to fill out paperwork… funny, the owner didn’t even tell me that when I asked him to remove me from their membership… just charged me another month!
All this aside, they have nice free weights… and yoga mats…
