This place was a complete waste of time. I went with a bunch of friends to barbecue at Cedar Beach and we decided to grab a few shots afterwards. No big deal right? Well since it was a lot of us, my buddy negotiated from $ 5 to $ 4 a shot and we dropped a few bucks in the tip jar. The bartender never asked us what kind of shot we wanted or told us about the shot limitations. We said fireball and handed him our money. We were expecting $ 8 in change, which we never got; moreover, the shots were tiny – probably half the size of a medicine cup that comes with cough syrup. They were, for sure, under an ounce. Now, I’m not upset about any of that, other than we were never told that shots of fireball would cost more. He never mentioned that the $ 4 shots were limited to some sub-par brand of alcohol. Anywho, I also grabbed a drink after the shots, which was amazing btw. It was really good; however, service and integrity outweigh quality by a long-shot, for me at least. I would suggest being very thorough when coming here, because if you’re not, you’re going to feel ripped off.

Great food for a snack bar. Drinks are pricey but also delicious. The live music and location on the beach make it a great spot in the summer.

It was quite forgettable. Went out of our way to come here following our trip to Robert Moses State Park. Tried to order fish & chips, but was told that they were out of it(Really? Out of FISH&CHIPS? Granted it was after 8pm.) so one of the employees suggested crab cakes, adding that they are much better. Nope. For $ 13.50, you get 2 relatively mediocre, and mushy crab cakes with fries that don’t fare much better. If you insist on crab cakes, perhaps get the sandwich, as they can’t possibly use less than 2 pieces in that, unless it was served on a biscuit. The tartar sauce tasted strange to me, but my friend said he liked it just fine. Friend got pasta. It was pretty good but pricey. Why is pasta always overpriced? Another friend got a shrimp basket special. They were better than my crab cakes. The raw clams tasted fine, but some of them looked rather weak. Despite the sub-par food the environment and live music was somewhat pleasant. I imagine it is much louder during the day when the beach is crowded. Unfortunately, it was a bit confusing to find parking. We had 2 cars in our party and while my car just went around the barrier blocking the parking lot driveway, my friends wound up driving to the parking lot on some other property, which was about a 5 – 10 minute walk from the establishment.

For a nice summer hangout on the South Shore near Southwestern Suffolk County/Southeastern Nassau County, The Beach Hut makes for a fun and beautiful hangout. I went here last Labor Day weekend with my two friends from Seaford, who love to go to this place as they love the atmosphere and the live music that they play. When we arrived here, it was very crowded and very loud, which was not a surprise as we were expecting that. As expected, it was also a large, open pavilion with with many tables. In addition, the excellent band was playing upbeat and fun 1970s tunes, which kept The Beach Hut rocking! Since it was very loud, we grabbed a picnic bench table towards the back of the pavilion near the entrance from the parking lot. For our meals, we all ordered the Grilled BBQ Chicken platters with no bun, as we are all allergic to gluten, with a side of corn on the cob for my platter and french fries and cole slaw for my friends. We also ordered two club sodas and a Diet Coke to drink. The gentleman who took our order was friendly and efficient, though he had a slightly hard time hearing due to the noise, which was not his fault. The order came out to $ 40 in change, which was a bit pricey but then again, I think you are paying for the atmosphere first and the food second. Finally, a very friendly food runner delivered our meals. I thoroughly enjoyed my Grilled Chicken Platter, even though it was more like a sandwich without a bun as the portion was on the small side. Despite the small portion, the grilled chicken breast was juicy, tender, and accompanied by a sweet and tangy barbecue sauce, crisp lettuce, a ripe tomato slice, and a pleasantly sour pickle spear. In addition, the ear of corn that came with my platter was large, sweet, and well-cooked. My friends also enjoyed their platters. After eating dinner and listening to the band for a bit, we walked onto the wide, clean, and relaxing beach on this balmy night, which ended off a fun night at The Beach Hut Cedar Beach. Overall, I would definitely return to The Beach Hut again as the atmosphere was beautiful and lively, the service, and the food was good too!

A fun place to hang out during the summer. It is no OBI, but they do have live music. And the Rum Punch’s are pretty delicious. And make sure you get up to the roof deck to watch the sunset

Saturday night at the Beach Hut, packed! There was a long wait for the bar, about a 10 minute wait/line for drinks. Although, the drinks were delicious! We ordered a mojito and a piña colada. Decent size drinks and they were REALLY good. I didn’t eat here, so I can’t review the food. There was a line to order food and you tell them your table number and they serve to your table. Cash only. It’s definitely a bar atmosphere. They had a live band and it was super packed. The music was good. The age group is about 40+ when I came. There’s a lot of people coming from the beach in their bathing suits and kids running around. I gave it three stars because of the nice view on their top deck and the good drinks. I’ll come back again, but not on a Saturday night. Next time, I’ll come a lot earlier and just for drinks.

I can’t believe i’ve never been here before!!! I went with my best friend Kellie and her bf Wayne on their boat tonight and it was awesome!!! I didn’t eat but i did have a piña colada that was actually really good!!! The people that work here are friendly and smiling and the crowd was awesome. Everyone was very chill and just relaxing on the beach listening to a really good cover band. We sat upstairs for a while watching all the hotties playing volleyball, yummy. Then we walked around a bit and just had an awesome time. Its nights like this that makes me love living on the water and enjoying the outdoors. If you don’t have a good time here you need to get your head examined. It was freaking GREAT!!!

After a day at the beach, we wanted to find somewhere local for a quick dinner. Found this place nearby. A very crowded and very loud fried seafood/burger joint. No indoor seating, just many picnic tables. They were out of crab cakes, I had the fried fish and fries. Service was a bit slow and they forgot one of our orders. Food was okay, but the army of mosquitos were unbearable! They were eating us faster then we could eat the food! We had to eat dinner in the car.

Ordered crab cakes and shrimp in a basket(which comes with fries). Food was decent, but portions were small. The shrimp basket costs over $ 10 and comes with 5 tiny shrimp. Really?! The place was pretty lacking in general food and hospitality etiquette. They bring the food out to your table outside. However, if it’s too crowded and you don’t have a table, your wait will be much longer(around 20 – 25 min). This doesn’t make sense. People should get served based on their order on the line. Good thing we were able to find a table fairly quickly, though. The girl at the counter was also very curt in the way she spoke. I understand that it’s loud and kind of crowded, but her mannerisms could have been better. I asked if I could get an extra cup for the soda I ordered and she sharply replied, «No.» She didn’t even give me the option to purchase a cup if I wanted to. At the end of the transaction I asked if get a receipt and she quickly replied no to that as well. Good thing we actually received our food. What kind of place doesn’t give you a receipt? Food trucks and carts in NYC may not provide receipts, but at least they give you your food right away. If this place has a policy is to serve customers at their tables after they’ve ordered at the counter, then they should at least provide a receipt in case someone doesn’t receive what they’ve ordered. Btw, Cash only.

I went on a Tuesday afternoon before a volleyball tournament. It was quiet. I ordered some clams and drinks and headed on the back of a pickup truck to the beach.(The beach is really far away.) It was quiet, but the music was blasting.(And there was no one there.) However, at 6, hundreds of volleyball teams descended on the beach and it became a party. Although the crowd at the Beach Hut is a little older — so the music transitioned from Sean Paul to California Beach Rock — it was a great time. The food was good. I had clams — decent though small — oysters — decent — and drinks — decent though strong. I would recommend this is as a place if you are looking to drink and eat on the beach. A couple of notes. First, the beach pickup truck«tram» runs only until 6. It’s a long walk between the Beach Hut and the beach. Second, the drinks are strong. Pricey, but really strong. And I can imagine that on the weekends, this place can get very crowded. That said, if you are looking for a place where they get it started, particularly if you are 50-something, this is that place. For the rest of us, the vibe is awesome and the food and drinks are good.

The worst. Cheeseburger came out black — barely edible. The grilled tuna was so overcooked. Never again. Save your money and eat before you go to the beach.

Why can’t it be summer year round!!! I love this place the food is amazing, the staff is amazing and the drink are to die for! Awesome LIVE Music! Ever summer I look forward to The Beach Hut! Great place to hang out with friends and family and to spend an awesome day at the beach! Everything was perfect on my latest visit on July 5th, the food was served really quickly and the drink were awesome. The only complaint was the Crab Cakes were well over cooked and burnt. Other then that Fish and Chips, Clams, Mussels and Calamari’s were so yummy!!! Highly recommended!

I love this place! Want to get outdoors and enjoy the beaches of Long Island. Bring your own picnic and sit on the sand and listen to the music, or enjoy the food and drinks of the hut, either way is a win situation. Drinks are good and great selection. Playground for the kids. And of course the ocean is near by I am a fan!

Awesome! Perfect place to chill if you don’t feel like hanging out by the water. Live music is always great. They have multiple bars and one which serves a good variety of frozen drinks. The hut also has pretty good food with standard to expensive pricing. I recommend — mudslide — cheeseburger — onion rings

FUNFUNFUN Directly on the beach with live music, decent food, dancing, cocktails and gorgeous sunsets. Great formula for Summer on Long Island. Parking is free after 5pm(30.00 during the day). Get there early since the line at the Bar(2 Bars, both inside and out on the deck) and food counter can get ridiculously long. We ordered Thai style Calamari and Rigatoni with Vodka Sauce which is served in a big stainless steel bowl. The pasta was surprisingly, very good. It was cooked al dente and they even put grated cheese on top! Calamari was lightly breaded and fried(of course) with a drizzle of sweet Thai sauce. It was plenty for us. I wasn’t crazy about their version of the L.I. Ice Tea(way too sweet-yuk) but the outside Bartender made me a «killer» Cosmo. People were also set up on the beach with their chairs and coolers and there is a small playground for children. This is a really nice way to end your day at Robert Moses or Jones Beach. PS-CASHONLY!

It’s a little pricey for what it is but it’s the only place to buy food or drinks at Cedar Beach. The food and drink selection is large compared to other Beach Huts I’ve been to. There is plenty of seating and live music every night in the summer. It gets especially crowded on lobster nights.

I have been going here for YEARS! Every summer it’s like a ritual I have with myself, hubby and many friends! Almost every summer Friday night this is my home! The bar, the bands, the fun! I saw a recent post about parking, and how it’s 30bucks a car, yes that is true, but if you are coming after 6pm parking is free! And that $ 30 pays for the maintenance for one of the BESTBEACHES on this island! This is also a TOWNOFBABYLON beach, where a seasonal parking pass is used and that basically pays for itself after 2 trips to the beach! Food is reliable and they have GREAT fresh seafood and all at reasonable prices! Go, ENJOY… It’s the beach after all!!! They also have some of the best bartenders on the island, very tasty drinks!!!

Great little place to grab seafood in the summer. This place is what it is, a little hut on the beach. Don’t come here expecting something fancy and you will not be disappointed. I have eaten here twice so far this summer and every time the food had been great. Fresh oysters, good mix of seafood basics, Fried Calamari, fried & baked clams, crab cakes and so on. Yes you eat outside on pick-nick tables that’s part of the fun and there are not many places on Long Island you can coming to in shorts after hanging out at the beach all day and eat good seafood right on the ocean. Fun casual vibe, live music, good food, you really can’t go wrong.
