If you like seafood this is my go-to place they have a fresh seafood counter with all different kinds of fish clams muscles lobsters shrimp and all of it very fresh they also have a frozen food in area where you can pick up frozen lobster tails and shrimp and different kinds of soups and bisque and they have a pet section where you can get shrimp salad lobster salad and all kinds of different seafood salad and coleslaw. Then you can walk over to the restaurant counter and order your dinner or lunch and they also have some nice steaks I know a lot of people complaining about you have to sit down and they call you back to come get you order but that’s the least of my worries the food is good plus they have a nice Clam Bar when you can get ice cold beer and sold and fresh clams on a half shell and oysters. So if you’re in the area give it a try. Two brothers have been running in place for years Sal and Tony two nice gentlemen very helpful when you need to order of something special

Horrible! This place used to be good… no more! I got lobster bisque it would have been nice to have at least 1 piece of lobster in it. Also had broiled stuffed filet which was supposed to be crabmeat stuffed but it was bread stuffed and awful tasting!!! Husband had fried seafood platter al overcooked i think the food may be frozen and not worth halfthe money we paid!

My family has been getting fish from here for my whole life, it seems. I remember visiting as a kid and helping to pick out the night’s dinner. The place has been around forever, so that tells you about the quality. They’re always friendly and will help you pick out a good piece of fish for whatever you’re cooking. Only recently did we decide to stay there for a sit-down dinner. It was nothing fancy at all– picnic type tables and such and dinner served in baskets– but it was delicious. Everything was so fresh. We got a wide array of food and enjoyed every bit of it. I got a crab sandwich. There’s even some non-seafood entrees for those land lovers!

Terrific casual seafood restaurant and fish market. Self-serve food and bar. Friendly staff. The fried seafood is fantastic. Clean fryer oil is evident and a light breading doesn’t hide the fresh seafood within. Fried combo platter with two big filets, plump and juicy clam strips and generously sized shrimp and scallops was the favorite. For fried seafood, it was nice and light. Baked chopped clams, white sauce mussels and lobster bisque(nice and creamy) were great starters. Lobster roll(mayo) was generous and the hot dog roll was toasted(makes a big difference — keeps it from getting mushy). Broiled fresh fish selections were extensive and the grouper was a nice size and delicious. Fair prices for super-fresh seafood that’s well prepared. Owner Sal is very friendly and proud of his restaurant and food.

This place is sooooo good and cheap for a quick seafood spot. I had the seafood gumbo which was like a mix between New England calm chowder and spicy gumbo it was so yummy. It wasn’t actually an item on the menu but the lady at the register highly recommended I order it and I am so glad I did. I also had the baked clams. Not the best baked clams I have ever had but good enough to order again I had the shrimp Alfredo and wasn’t really a fan of this. It could’ve been because I was feeling especially sensitive to smells the day I visited this restaurant or it could’ve been because it just smelled really fishy; either way, it was wayyyyyyyyy to fragrant for me! All together we had two soups, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and 2 drinks all for the amazing price of 60 bucks. I do not know many seafood places where that price point for this many items is a true reality. I will definitely be back to visit but will try some new things the next go around. Happy Unilocaling :)

Oh good god was this place awful. I am not the usual 1 star giver but I give it because 0 is not an option. #1 — way to expensive and they get your money upfront so there is no getting it back if your dissatisfied… and you will be dissatisfied, so chalk it up to a learning experience and never come back. #2 — say what… yes you will«say what or where» is my food. The portions are so small and some how do not even look like the shape of what they should be. I have never seen cod cut into bite size nuggets in my life and then they hide them under the French fries. The stuffed shrimp should have just been called stuffing balls as the shrimp under it was butterflied smallest shrimp in the universe. #3 — soup is horrible, do not get. New England clam chowder should not need the crackers to make it better but it did. Lobster bisque was missing taste and lobster. Soup is also served barely warm. #4 — this is a seafood store and seafood restaurant combo and you would think that if this is all about the seafood they would make their own cocktail and tartar sauce. Nope! They give you packets of Kraft made sauces. Yuck. #5 — the spin on the positive, they say… free refills on the sodas. I would rather have a good meal than free refills. I have no idea how this place stays in business as the food is such that I would not feed it to a homeless person. If you do not mind travelling head to Bigelows in Rockville Center or City Island(any restaurant) in the Bronx.

Best place in Long Island to get twin lobsters. The staff is friendly and always very attentive, especially Jessica who makes the best sangria and was checking up on us throughout our meal. We have come to enjoy lobster here numerous times and it’s always been a great experience. It’s a great place to enjoy a great meal with friends and family. Cheers!

I can only blame the person who hires. Never again will we be frequentling this, what was, a great place. We were told someone we will be right with you. 5⁄8 minutes later, the same woman that spoke to us asked for our order. «two lobster rolls». She turned her back to us and as she attended to tasks said«no lobster… what ever she said that followed was as if the teacher from Peanuts spoke. Her back was all that mattered. We just walked out as she spoke. Rude! No alternatives? We drove east to Babylon. Beautiful day. Had lobster roll and wine on the BAY

I’ve been coming here since I was 5 years old Now at 28, still best seafood restaurant my family I go to. We mainly come as a large group and order the broiled twin lobsters. It’s always a great deal and an inexpensive way to enjoy lobster. The manager knows who I an already and is very kind to accommodate my large family at the private dinning room area. Lobster bisque, fresh raw Oysters and fried shrimp are my other favorites. Other than the delicious food they offer the atmosphere is also pretty great. It’s a cafeteria style restaurant. So you can order yourself.

I usually get the fried shrimp but because I wanted to try something else I decided to get the sea scallops. Bad choice. These didn’t look and taste like sea scallops. When they’re small and all the same size it sends up a red flag. Also had the baked clams and not used to chewing on big chucks of Clam in there.

It’s good when you are craving fried food. It’s a bit old fashioned which is good and bad. Fresh stuff, but a bit of a mess.

Flounder with pasta and sauce is very good. Draft beer is why i do not eat there anymore because it never works they try to sell bottle beer, also they have an older woman she is a grumpy person. Its not goodto have counter help that is grumpy to customers.

For the price and quality of their seafood Southside can not be beaten! The fish is always fresh considering it comes straight from the fish market in house. I’d recommend the lobster bisque and be sure to check the specials board for some great deals. Also worth checking out the raw bar and the nice variety of beer taps. If you are near Lindenhurst and enjoy seafood you must check out Southside!

Foods fresh and good. The service here is horrendous. They have some huge clams and the lobster deal is a good bang for the buck. Plan on waiting forever while the kids at the register play around. It takes forever for the food to come out as well. If you don’t mind waiting, the food is worth it for the price.

I’ve only ate here once before with my parents in 2013. You walk in and there’s three station. A fish market on your left, straight ahead you can get hot food, and then to your right is the raw bar and drink bar. You pay separately at each station. Then you can see your self all the way to the right. I got the lobster bisque and the clam strip roll. The bisque was good and I can remember the taste of the sherry in it. The clams on the roll were good too but I was very disappointed that they used kraft brand tartar sauce. It smelled and tasted like perfume. It’s not hard to make your tartar sauce and it would compliment the seafood a lot better. As for the price, it’s decent. Seafood is expensive no matter where you go. Next time I come I’m hoping the tartar sauce has changed or I may not return after that.

Southside has the best seafood in the area. whether you are dining in or taking home a nice catch from the market. They have it all… a raw bar, lots of appetizers and seafood dinners to choose from. As for the market section, the selection of fish, crab, and lobster is plentiful and always a great deal for your money. You can get two steamed or broiled 1.25lb lobsters for under $ 20 on most days. Great portions and great quality. The seating is cafeteria-style, so I don’t recommend this as a date place. Great for friends or a family night out. You will get better quality and twice the amount of food than if you went to Red Lobster.

I grew up down the block from Southside and my last impression was a good fish market and takeout food eaten on picnic tables. When I stopped in last night to get takeout I’ was pleasantly surprised. They now(since 1997!) offer table service and have a full bar. We ordered an array of different appetizers, soups and entrées. Everything was great! Even to go. We’ll be back for a sit down meal soon. Who knew, so close to home!
