Avila Lighthouse Suites

Great stay so far. Love the rooms. Easy access to the beach and pool. Very spacious and well kept. Staff was very helpful at check in. Reminds me of décor back in the eastern shores.

I have stayed here twice now and I absolutely love this place. This is my favorite hotel on any California beach I’ve stayed on so far.
The view is incredible. I’ve stayed in the rooms that face the park and even those have an ocean view. Our most recent stay we had a pool and ocean view and we were in heaven. Every morning I opened the blinds from bed and just laid there and watched the waves from bed.
Speaking of the beds, they are very comfy! I love the plantation shutters and the sliding shutter door to the patio as well.
The bath tubs are awesome! Deep and comfy! They sell bath bombs at the front desk, there is one called «monkey fart» that actually smells AMAZING!
The lobby is nice and all the staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful.
I do wish the bathroom doors locked in the rooms. But that is literally my only minor complaint.
Staying here can be pricy but you won’t regret it! You get convenient onsite FREE parking, breakfast is included, the site is very family friendly with a pool, hot tub, mini golf, giant checkers, ping pong, etc. and the location can’t be beat! The beach is steps away, restaurants, shopping, drinks, etc.

Great hotel with a fantastic location. It doesn’t get any better in Avila Beach then this hotel for proximity to the small beach side restaurants and stores. Better yet, is the location to the sandy beach. Directly in front of the hotel separated only by a small street. The staff and rooms were fantastic. We had ocean front and enjoyed hanging out on the balcony looking down on the beach. All rooms have a very good view. The pool was nice and clean and it too looks onto the beach. This was a good choice for us and I would say spend whatever the rates are because if you want to simply walk out of your room and be on the sand within a minute or two, this is the place to stay. Bonus was we were the first to use one of the new sleeper sofas they recently upgraded to all rooms. No metal bar poking at you, very comfortable. Best location of an Avila Beach hotel over any other hotels there. Inclusive breakfast was a pleasant bonus. The prices are very competitive when compared to other ocean front hotels in other nice beach towns. Much nicer then Pismo Beach in our opinion.

Positively fabulous views, rooms and staff. You simply cannot ask for more. The location is literally Ocean front, so no room as a «Bad» view. Avila is a darling little town, so no need to even use a car while visiting. A+ all the way around!

Great location and parking. Friendly staff and they really keep the place clean. We stayed in suite 109, great little patio out back. Seems a little pricey, but for a mini suite that can sleep 6, super clean, good and easy parking, and a breakfast that was decent… it was a good deal. I will be coming back again with the family.

I came here for a bachelorette party and it was the perfect girl’s getaway! Our room was clean, spacious, and came with a view! We definitely paid for the view, but split different ways made it more than worth it. The staff were friendly, personable, and helpful.
Didn’t get around to trying to the complimentary breakfast, but since this is practically right on Front St, there are many meal options to choose from. Also, love the hotel’s central location to SLO and Pismo!
I highly recommend this place. Can’t wait to go back with my man for something romantic!
Tip: only one car can use the hotel’s parking lot, so all other cars will have to find street parking. This is the only drawback I could find. Cheers!

Great place to stay! Amazing location and nice amenities. The continental breakfast is not fancy but gets the job done. The rooms are very clean and are great layouts, with the living area nicely separated from the main bedroom. Very quaint and adorable décor, beachside theme is nice. We loved the coffee and hot cocoa bar in the lobby ;-). The pool and spa were very clean and enjoyable, even in the middle of winter. Right on the beach with easy access to the town playground and restaurants. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because the coffee is bad and the pillows were way too fluffy… So, bad sleep because of the pillows and then not good coffee to manage the next day=4 stars :-\.
Would definitely recommend this place anytime of the year!

This was THE WORST VACATION WE HAVE EVER HAD! Ok, so, yes, the hotel is located directly in front of the Ocean. Which, btw, is THE reason I chose this hotel. I am disabled, and use a walker for short walks here and there. And for a bit longer, and more enjoyable days, I must be pushed in a wheelchair.
I made sure I was booking an OCEANFRONT, not An OCEANVIEW ROOM, which definitely cost us much more. No problem, as this was a special vacation, celebrating our 21 Wedding Anniversary. Costing us over 200 a night, we figured it would be well worth it, with me being able to enjoy the ocean from the balcony, mwithout me having to walk anywhere! We were sooooo excited!!! That is… until we checked into our room, and walked over to the building. Now, mind you, there are a few buildings. But, WHAT THE HECK… WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU PUT THE DISABLED LADY, OBVIOUSLY PUSHING A WALKER, AND HUBBY PUSHING A TRANSPORT WHEELCHAIR AMONGST OTHER THINGS, INTO THE ONLY BUILDING WITHOUT AN ELEVATOR ADDING TO THAT INTO THE TOP FLOOR??? We were to be staying here for a week! After attempting the first time, to get up the stairs, and toting our belongs, well, actually, my poor husband toting our belongings with prob 4 trips up and down the stairs, we realized ASAP THIS WAS NOT GOING TO WORK,!!! HAS THIS HOTEL NEVER HEARD OF ADA COMPLIANT??? Obviously NOT, nor did they care if we had a good time, or if I almost fell backwards down the stairs after my first trip up them. I was virtually trapped in my room, unless I risked my life attempting this again. Needless to say, my hubby immediately went to the front desk, thinking the best, that possibly there was an oversight of some sort, and it could be easily rectified. NOT A CHANCE!!! Even after advising them we would be more than happy in a room other than the oceanfront! We saw several on the bottom floor. My husband pointed them out to the front desk clerk. She replied that a few of them were in line to be updated, but she stated, u dear the circumstances, she thought her supervisor prob. Could make an adjustment on one, and postpone the update for a week. She had us wait a moment while she went to a back room to talk to her supervisor. After only about a minute or so, she returned, stating, sorry, no can do! Now, we should have screamed, or something, but, we were so flabbergasted, I think we were in a state of shock! She did, however, state that if something comes up, they would be sure to let us know. NOT A COMFORT AT ALL!!! After three days of being mostly confined to my room, due to the stairs, mind you there were approx. 22 stairs, so I am not exaggerating about the difficulty we were presented with, or the discrepancies and I adherences to the UNITED STATES ADA REQUIREMENTS, OF WHICH WE RE NOT AT ALL OBVIOUSLY RECOGNIZED AT THIS HOTEL!!! Anyway, on day three or 4, it’s been awhile, we were given the chance to move to another building that had an elevator. Yippee! We were a bit excited at least a small part of our vacation could be salvaged!!! We repack, and head over to our new room. Yes! An elevator!!! Oh no!!! Another obstacle!!! Once you got off the elevator, you walked thru the first building, passing many rooms, crossed over to another building, and our room was second to the last room, farthest from the elevator in the second building!!! What can I say??? I guess only is… Thank goodness I was not stuck on the top floor with 22 stairs anymore??? And, after this experience, I see why the literally millions of Americans with disabilities are not usually avid travelers due the many obstacles ??? We will NEVER, EVER, RECOMMEND, NOR STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN.?? Lol, obviously, they couldn’t care less if we did, or not. There are only a few hotels/​resorts in this very small, quaint, lovely community. They prob don’t need the business of a few of us disabled people anyway!!! But, one thing I HAVE TO SAY IS… IF I KNEW HOW TO REPORT THIS HOTEL TO THE ADA (AMERICAN DISABILITY ACT), I WOULD HAVE ALREADY DONE THIS.,!! If anyone out there does know how to, I would be VERY appreciative to have you forward my letter to them!!!
This may not matter to many young people, or people in general. But, these kinds of violations are VERY important. Think of your entire family! Most people have at least one, if not many people in it that are getting old, or are arthritic, or have difficulty moving, or getting around. Or like in my case, a Disabled Veteran, with severe lower extremity lack of strenghth and movement etc. Are we not to be able to enjoy anything in life??? Must we have only the 4 walls of our homes to stay in??? Can we not enjoy the luxury of vacation like other human beings??? Think long, and think hard. Either yourself, or someone you know, or in your own family WILL experience sometime in their lifetime hurdles of this nature. THIS is why there is an AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT!

I just booked a week at Avila Lighthouse Suites (for July) after a Christmas Day visit.
Why?
Amazing location! Super clean and well-​maintained hotel, perfect spot for my family of 5.
After seeing the place over the past few years, I did a Christmas Break walk-​through to see if the rooms and facilities would work for a family summer vacation. I can confirm, it’s a beautiful property.
I’m looking forward to our summer vacation in Avila Beach and our stay at Avila Lighthouse Suites. With the beach across the street, restaurants/​bars and shops nearby, it should be great fun.
5 stars in anticipation… will update after my stay.
***I should note, it’s NOT cheap. I rented a house in Laguna Beach for less, so my expectations are HIGH.***

We went here as a Christmas present to each other. What an amazing hotel. The views from our bedroom were outstanding but the views from our private balcony were absolutely breath taking.
It’s within walking distance from everything you want to do in Avila Beach. Can’t say enough about how amazing this place is. We will most definitely be returning SOON for another get away.

Yes, I can recommend this hotel to those wishing to stay in this area. The property is pristine, landscaped and obviously cared for. It’s styled on nautical beach themes and the overall effect is cheerful.
The room suites are comfortable, best features are the private patios and comfortable beds. Some of the patios are less private than others, meaning some are in ground locations that will have quite a bit of foot traffic, hotel guests and staff, passing by frequently.
Each room has coffee making facilities and a fridge and a good sized bathroom.
The hotel has considerable beach frontage and provides very convenient access to the beach. You are within walking distance of everything in the town.
The pool really is lovely. You can hear the ocean from your lounge chair.
Something to note, if you stay here bring your own drinking water. The tap water has a bad taste, not fit even for the coffee and the only water provided by the hotel are $ 5 bottles of Fiji. The water quality is so poor that bottles of drinking water should be provided free of charge. It doesn’t even have to be Fiji, just something to drink that doesn’t taste bad.
Parking is indoor and convenient and they reasonably don’t charge extra for that.
Seattle’s Best coffee is available in the lobby and rooms and it’s the best free coffee I’ve had in a hotel or motel of this grade.
Our check in took quite some time as there was a line of people ahead of us. The staff are fine, just not terribly warm or efficient. For a hotel at this price range hospitality and friendliness are expected and noticed when absent.

The Staff makes this a 4 for sure. Everyone was very accommodating! From the manager, Liz down to the maintenance man Nicolas, excellent service with a smile. I need to mention Olivia, Irene and Liz-​Beth and what excellent customer service they provided as well.
We had a couple of glitches in our suite. Various small gatherings of ants; blow dryer didn’t’ work; Air conditioning was not running well and the phones did not work for a period of time. We had to use our cell phones to call the front desk.
The suites are spacious; well kept and nicely decorated. The pool and hot tub are wonderful. You can’t beat the views and walking across the street and jumping in the ocean. The breakfast included with the suite is perfect! The only hot item is a waffle, but who wants a heavy breakfast.
I will pack more food/​snacks next time, since they have a good size mini fridge and a microwave. The restaurants in Avila are not that spectacular, so we drove in to Pismo to eat.

Show some class.
And if you’re here in Avila Beach, an excellent way to show class is booking a room at the Avila Lighthouse Suites. The suites, the seawall and walk, the beach. That’s it. Just a few feet to the sand, sea and surf, the sounds and breezes of the ocean pouring into your open windows.
I’m booking rooms now for the whole family. I want them to experience Avila Beach comfortably.

This place is pricey but the location is great. We paid 350 $ a night during the week with no ocean view. You are right across from the beach so that’s a plus. Great for families and kids.
No safes in the rooms and the beds aren’t great. A bit lumpy/​taco-​ish. They included breakfast buffet/​continental which was healthy and a great option. The coffee is really good and strong like I like it. If you go to the pool/​spa remember to grab towels from the lobby first as there aren’t any at the pool.
I was a bit shocked to see (for the price) that all the queen palm trees around the establishment had many dead and hanging palms. It’s prime time summer and they could have easily been trimmed as they were not too high. It made the grounds look dumpy.
Overall it’s decent. Not sure I would go back for the price though. But I’m glad we tried it out.

My husband and I stayed here for our staycation, a vacation near home, in May 2015. We have 2 toddler aged children and we were gifted a nights stay here and dinner at custom house as Christmas gift from my parents. We had the best room in the place. It was one of the ocean front king suites, the balcony wrapped around the room. It was roomy and the bed was comfortable. We sat on the balcony and drank a few brews while we watched the sunset. Overall I was happy that the bed was comfy and we couldn’t hear the surrounding rooms. We’d definitely stay here for our next staycation, if it’s in our budget of course

Wonderful location, steps from the beach. The hotel grounds are immaculate and the rooms clean and comfortable. For a fold out, the couch bed had a wonderful «temperpedic» style mattress. My daughter loved the Bath and Body Works toiletries and nabbed some lotion for her purse. They have cookies at check in and a great continental style breakfast everyday until 10 am. There were zero surprises at check in and check out and amazingly parking is included in the price. My only complaint is our air in our room was non-​existent and due to the fact that we had to keep our windows open we got all the street traffic noise from the park across they way. A minor annoyance at most. The pool is kept heated and my daughter and her cousins spent hours each night swimming their little hearts out. A wonderful, family friendly hotel.

This is a real value of a gem. Oceanfront convenience walking distance to «downtown» (a couple of eating places and swimsuit shops) for the price of inland hotels. This is one of the best beachside value on the Cali coast. Huge 2 room suites with microwave and frig. Breakfast has usual parties cereal and fruit plus waffles and hard boiled eggs. Everything is squeaky clean including the pool and hot tub area. There is a quite street between your patio door and the ocean but I didn’t mind.
Now why the lower price?
You have to want to be away from the busy beach scene to enjoy this tiny treasure of an area. Great for families of younger kids and older couples. Not a lot to do in this immediate area. Roomy

Nestled right on Avila Beach, this amenity-​filled hotel provides guests with the ultimate beach oasis. We were coming to Avila Beach for a fundraiser at the Avila Lighthouse Suites Conference Room last weekend and enjoyed a weekend stay at the adjoining suites. The hotel at this late time of year was very sparsely filled, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves.
Guest suites are outfitted with cozy beach-​chic furnishings, a living/​sitting area, a wet bar, a sunken bathtub, spa bath robes, and a private balcony. There’s an on-​site fitness center, a heated pool ringed with bright beach chairs, a hot tub and a full-​service spa. I took full advantage of all the wonderful amenities with a hard gym seesh and a refreshing pool and hot tub dip. We also received complimentary wine tasting passes to Alapay Cellars, a fun and unpretentious boutique winery a couple doors down. There’s also a mini golf putting course, a ping pong table and a life-​size checkers board near the pool.
We were lucky to be blessed with 70-​temps in November, so our stay was nothing short of amazing. The ocean views from our private balcony were breathtaking and such a warm welcome every time we walked into our suite. We strolled along the pier and checked out many of neat Avila Beach shops and restaurants. There are many nearby area attractions like the popular Bob Jones Trail for hiking and biking, the Avila Beach Golf Resort, the Sycamore Mineral Springs, family-​friendly Avila Barn and more than a few beachside wine tasting rooms.
The lobby area is ultra cozy with a crackling fireplace, white beach house furniture, fresh-​brewed Seattle’s Best coffee and homemade cookies and a gift shop with all your last-​minute beach essentials and apparel. The front desk staff will supply you with any personal care items you need and will help make your stay most comfortable and enjoyable.
There is complimentary wifi throughout the grounds and continental breakfast every morning (waffles, bagels, donuts, cereal, oatmeal, juice, coffee). Avila Lighthouse partners with neighboring Cuvée Champagne Bar & Delights, who will indulge guests with thoughtfully prepared cheese boards and specialty baskets to enjoy in-​room or beachside.
Ultimate oceanfront retreat in the quaint and cozy Avila Beach Village. We are going to try to make this our annual Fall beach getaway.

Honestly, I can’t find anything bad to say about this place so I gotta go for the full 5 stars.
Located right across the street from the beach, this is a really cute hotel with full-​on beach theme décor. A much better choice to stay than that skanky frat-​house of a motel on the opposite end of the street (Inn at Avila).
Room was very clean. I was happily surprised to find the unit had a sitting room with a fridge and television separate from the bedroom. Our first floor room had a nice patio facing the pool and beach. There were plenty of towels in the bathroom and soft robes were provided. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Free parking and free breakfast. And a free gym (small but with the essential equipment: elliptical, treadmill, bike and a few weight machines) was taken advantage of.
I was very pleased and satisfied with my stay here!
