Three Palms Avalon Arcade

This is one of the places we visited while here. it was pretty cool. They have a few games that you play with their tokens, others that are cash only, they have a photo booth, bowling, mini bar with drinks and some finger food. It waa pretty clean and enjoyable.

I love love love the $ 5 mini bowling area! My friends and I had an awesome time there!

I’m a sucker for arcades and when I was coming back from a snorkeling tour I looked to my left and saw three palms Avalon arcade and I knew I had to be back. That night I convinced my friends to go with me. I took $ 50 to spend. Once there, apparently it was taco night and they had $ 2 street tacos. My family at some point owned and ran a taco truck out here in Cali so I know what street tacos are like. My, were these tacos terrible. I’m sorry to the cook, (he was really sweet) but Uhm no. Maybe I was expecting Mexican tacos? I don’t know but they were just not okay. I got three tacos of asada and I didn’t even eat an entire one. I left them on the table and went to play. They had cool loud music on the arcade which I was jamming too and they had a lot of old school chuck e cheese games. I ended up spending $ 70 by myself, (they have an atm inside) and since my friends didn’t want to play (boring people) I made some friends with some people who were drinking there and we had a blast. Shout out to this arcade for making my vacation wonderful (;

The arcade was super fun. They had lots of cool games and the mini bowling was even more fun than regular bowling in my opinion. The guy who owns it let us stay after closing to finish our game and was so nice and friendly even though we made him stay almost an hour after closing. They also serve alcohol and really good food. We had pizza and wings. I definitely recommend coming by with friends if you’re visiting in Catalina.

This place is so fun! They have mini bowling $ 5/​person/​game. The balls are mini, and the pins are attached to strings. Such a quirky, fun activity in the afternoon!

Mini bowling and $ 5 beers is all that we tried and all that we needed. It was silly fun and we felt like kids — perfect.

Found this gem on my first trip to Catalina. This is a must stop on the island for kids and adults alike. The mini bowling tends to get super competitive and addicting, especially after a few drinks. The owner is a very knowledgeable and friendly local. Do not miss.

We stopped by for some Dip-​n-​dots and got a cookies and cream flavor in regular ($ 4.99). It was yummy and the guy at the counter was super friendly.
We then ventured over to the little arcade and played some games. This arcade is kind of small from what I’m used to and several of the games were out of order so we ended up playing several of the same games. After 10 minutes and $ 7 spent, we won ourselves a nice palm-​sized squirt gun! Woo hoo!
All in all, it is really a cute place and I would bring my kids here if I come back in the future… and if I have kids in the future.

We came here to check out the mini bowling alley. I was very disappointed that they didn’t honor the birthday deal advertised in both the Catalina Express magazine and on the chamber of commerce website. We bowled anyway. However, the game didn’t work right Half the time I had bowling balls and no pins. We also could not share a lane like in typical bowling (my spouse played in the lane next to me). I was truly disappointed and will not be coming back next time I visit the island.

I’m giving 5 for this place for Food. The only place on the island that serves gluten free pizza AND they are DELICIOUS. Our favorite is chicken BBQ pizza and traditional Parmesan chicken wings :) Service is always pleasant. Chef Mike is really cool and love his simple sushi menu. Arcade is good enough for my 10 years old and a toddler. Thanks, Steve!

The three palms arcade is housed on the same property that the Mardi Gras Avalon arcade was housed in for many many years. The owner of the Mardi Gras (Tony) ran a tight ship. He ensured all equipment was functioning correctly. He made sure that his games were a fair game of chance. And he made sure everyone left satisfied feeling good about their experience. If you had a problem Tony fixed it and then some. Of course back then there were no machines to get tokens. You changed your dollars for quarters with a human. My brother and I worked for Tony for years. It was a very different experience. When I visited Three Palms, many of the games did not work, most shorted you tickets (1 or 2) or did not produce ticket at all. The shooting gallery if you put in a dollar it works. If you put in a 5 dollar bill, you get three turns not 5. If you put a dollar in the token machine you get four tokens. If you put a 5 dollar bill in you should get 20 tokens. Here you get 19. If you put a 20 dollar bill in you get shorted $ 1.50. That’s no accident. This place needs to get on these issues. I came away feeling like I had been intentionally cheated not only out of my money but the experience I expected. There will never be another Mardi Gras arcade, it was a different era. But these guys are not even trying and are quite possibly dishonest.

This place disappointed us the most on the island! The mini bowling alley wasn’t working, we were gonna play a few rounds, especially since my husband was getting one round for free (for his b-​day). This place is the smallest arcade we’ve ever been in. The selection of games isn’t too great, pretty expensive. We tried to play skee ball, it wasn’t too much fun. We’re pretty good at it, but playing at this place it was kinda weird, it wasn’t working well. Didn’t spend too much time in here, it was boring so we left pretty quickly.

Catalina is better for having this arcade on the island, but it could use a few more games! Mini bowling is $ 5/​person for 10 frames and a fun way to kill some time. The shooting range is $ 1 for 12 shots and counts the number of hits you get. There’s some driving games, DDR, Wheel of Fortune, Deal or No Deal, air hockey, etc. There’s one mini bball shooting game, but it would be even better if there were two so people can go head to head!

Amazing service great menu fun for kids 4 and 7, safe atmosphere when we went mid week June high season able to walk around without worry, Mark Tu Chef came to the table w recommendations and REASONABLE prices fresh modest sushi, we spent time here! Away from beach on a 80’s day! Thin crust pizza was best– as for Chef Marks «garlic sauce» for sushi. Games great condition — fantastic idea from
Hotel Metropole! Upscale kept, clean, safe!

Okay, I may have an overly positive opinion of this place because I hit the jackpot on the Blackjack game on the first play… But, setting that aside, it was still a good time!
Pros: mini bowling! $ 5 per person per game. Lotsa fun!
Variety of games is decent
Prizes for your tickets are also decent
Cons: games are expensive! $ 1.00+ each for most games, $ 0.75 for skee ball

Being big kids we are fans of killing some time here. They have mini bowling which is really really fn. they also have a small kitchen for food and beverages. It’s super tiny. But the mini bowling is worth it alone.

I came here expecting to get a great pizza based on the reviews. Instead, we got a quesadilla with cheese on top. Look at my picture to see what this joke of a pizza looks like. When I complained that this looked an appetizer, the guy at the front desk laughed at me and told me I was stuck because «we were on an island». Then another employee came out to explain that this was the way people eat pizza here and wanted to know if I wanted to speak to the owner. I told him no, that I had complained enough and would leave a review on Unilocal.Ironically, my kids liked it, but we had to have dinner (again) afterwards.
I believe the previous reviews are bogus and should be reviewed by Unilocal.
This owner should lose his right go sell on the island and I will be calling the Better Business Bureau and The Chamber of Commerce.

There’s not a ton of stuff open «late» in Catalina, but Three Palms Arcade happens to be one of them. The miniature bowling is really fun, although the pins get stuck and tangled quite often. Games are $ 5 a piece, which is pretty decent.
They also sell a variety of beers and pizza.
My only complain is everything is token based, so if you don’t use up all your tokens then you’re kind of stuck with them.
I expect this is somewhat of a locals place, especially in the winter months, but it was a nice change of pace from the super touristy stuff.

I really wanted to try the mini bowling (or duck bowling) which they offer here and only a couple other places.
I noticed that you get a free game on your birthday when you ride the Catalina Express which was cool and kind of killed two birds with one stone.
It’s cute. There aren’t any holes in these softball sized bowling balls and you kind of just chuck the balls down the lane at these mini sized pins which are attached with cables to the ceiling. Kind of interesting. My best explanation would be that carnival game where you hit those milk containers crossed with skee ball. I don’t know… that’s just what comes to mind.
It was fun and different and I enjoyed it.
The rest of the arcade is rather small… there are a couple other games. but maybe I’ve just been spoiled with years of arcade playing?! I don’t know… but the mini bowling is worth checking out! :)
