Have been getting our hoagies at this location since the day it opened and have never had anything but the freshest rolls and cold cuts.(Mild Italian, Turkey Diablo & Turkey Schwartzie are our favorites.). And to think that all those years — prior to discovering Primos — we were eating those pre-sliced globs of meat on Wawa’s hoagies. Only negative? They’re not open all year long so we locals have to wait until they re-open each year in the spring.

I’m giving this a three for effort: there are a million options to choose from for your hoagie. Unfortunately, mine wasn’t spectacular, though it could have been had I not been rushed to order. When we got there, there were no other customers. Three visible staff and us. Why the young woman with the nose piercing behind the counter felt the need to rush our order is beyond me. She barked at us as soon as we entered and had a demanding tone when she asked us a minute later what we wanted when we were still clearly gaping at the giant menu. There have to be at least 50 sandwich options, with more information about toppings, sizes, and bread, so it’s easy to need to stand for a minute and absorb it all. Perhaps they cater to regulars who know what they want before they get there… Btw: I don’t care what you have in or on your face as long as the food is good. I only offer the descriptor in the event the proprietor reads this and is interested in knowing who impacted our experience. The meats and cheeses from which you can choose are substantial, so I’m sure if you can have a little time with a menu, realizing that free extras(lettuce, tomato, etc) have to be requested, it’ll probably turn out okay. Also note: this is take-out only and there’s only one small table available outside the shop. Ps: you can get a 10% discount for checking in with Unilocal, which I did. And I had to mention it three times and she still forgot to add the discount.

We had great hoagies here today. I had a Diablo with roast beef and turkey, and my husband had the buffalo chicken. The prices seem fair given the amount of meat on the sandwich. My husband said he would eat here every day, but there are so many other places to try.

Really great place to get lunch. Their ingredients are always fresh and every sandwich tastes delicious. I love their spicy tuna diablo and the original italian. Really great owners, always smiling and giving people great customer service. They’re also great for groups if you ever want to order a party tray or a quick run for something to eat on the beach.

I am a big fan of all of the Primos locations. But the one in Avalon has always been the best. I’ve always has the freshest bread weather i go in for an early lunch or grab a hoagie right before closing time it has always been a great hoagie. Like most places in Avalon they employee summer help which can sometimes be hit or miss but the employees in there always seem to work hard and get the orders out in a timely fashion despite being very busy. This is the best Primos location i’ve been to! Keep it up guys!

I’ve always heard of this place but never tried it until this weekend. I’m not really a hoagie eater but my friends were getting primos for lunch so instead of being difficult I figured I’d give it a try. The girl at the register recommended the turkey diablo and since I don’t like lettuce and tomato I just got extra mayo. Hands down the best hoagie I’ve ever had. I still can’t tell if it was the bread, the spicy mayo or a combination of both that complimented the turkey so well. Next day I ordered the same thing again. Just be warned, you will be hooked. Enjoy!

i think this place buys wawa’s leftover ingredients for their hoagies. theyre just the worst. wawa is cheaper. im going there next time i want a terrible hoagie. and hot peppers = cherry peppers, not banana peppers. sheesh.

I’ve been an Avalon summertime resident for the past five years and can honestly say these are the best sandwiches on the island. Don’t let the franchise name scare you(as I was at first), the meat and cheese is sliced to order and the bread is undoubtedly baked fresh throughout the day. My go-to order has to be their famous Italians, however, I’m also a big fan of the chicken cutlet sandwiches. Bada Bing with long hots if you enjoy spicy as much as I do. Deliver everywhere on the island, even beach. As a loyal customer to 29th Street Deli for years, I can greatfully say I have moved on to bigger and more delicious things.

The stock market must have eaten here today. I offered a homeless person the leftovers. He asked, «Where’s it from?». I said, «Primo Hoagies». He said, «Go to hell.»

I’d like to give them a better review because of their name but I guess because they are so new, they just aren’t up to par yet. Called around 1:30pm to pick up an order for a single sandwich and was told it’d take 30 minutes. Got there and walked in. Hot, sweaty beach go-ers are just standing around in no order at all. No one knows who ordered yet, who is waiting to pick up, etc. Staff needs to get their act together as well. Counter people are so unfriendly it hurts to even smile apparently. I’ll say that the sandwiches are decent, overpriced and come with no service or care. It works — but its not well run or amazing.

I wish you could give stars for food and service separately. The kids who work here are slow, miserable, and lazy. I went in after being told my order would be ready in two mins. I sat there for twenty and watched 2 girls slice pickles, one boy make hoagies, and another just sit there. The sandwiches are delicious as they are at all Primos, but I don’t see the people here putting up with the staff for very long.

Thank you Primo’s for opening down the block from my family’s shore house! Now that Ocean Drive Deli has closed I don’t know what I would do without you! A girl can only eat so much Wawa before wanting to die! Audiablo– Delicious! Crusher– Fantastic! Big T Diablo– Amazing! I love you Primo’s. You and your pepper shooters!

We got Primo’s this past weekend and I’m sad to say but 3 stars is the max I could give it. The turkey hoagie was good, but I can’t get over paying $ 9 for a plain turkey sandwich. I asked for hot peppers and they told me they hadn’t come in on yesterday’s order. And then on top of an already over priced hoagie they charged an additional $ 2 for cheese. And when I got home I realized that my sandwich had no cheese on it. I had also asked for oil and vinegar which was forgotten. There are much better sandwiches on the 7 mile island. And just a side note I am aware of the high prices in Avalon and Stone Harbor. And I have no problem paying them for good food!

I love finding a new place and having something I never thought I was going to get. I walked into my friend’s house in Avalon to people randomly yelling. Apparently, the group didn’t really wait to start imbibing from the keg. But before I was all that worried about beer, I wanted to get some food. The group were ordering from Primo’s, a place I had never heard of before but is apparently a chain down in South Jersey and PA. I decided to go with the Bada Bing — chicken cutlet, sharp provolone and broccoli rabe. I didn’t expect it to be anything great … but wow was it. The sub roll was warm and crunchy on the outside but the rest of it was still soft. The cutlet wasn’t dried out, the cheese had great flavor and DAMN the broccoli rabe. It was fresh and had a good bit of garlic involved, wow wow wow. If the only food I had eaten that weekend were Bada Bing subs from Primo’s, I would have been happy. When I woke up the next morning, I had two thoughts:(1) Why did you do that? and(2) What am I going to get for lunch at Primo’s. I ask one favor for my friends that get a house in Avalon every year, continue to get a place within walking distance of these sandwiches. All of us that mooch off of you will appreciate it.
