Our recently renovated family run motel offers friendly service for our guests. Enjoy the new beds while watching digital cable flatscreen tv’s or after an enjoyable day at the beach. Catalina’s water crisis requires mandatory reductions in water usage. We appreciate your understanding and help during the drought. All stays will require a minimum of two nights.
History
Established in 1976.
Our family started running Catalina Lodge in 1976 and purchased the business in 1978. Ron and Bev Black had enjoyed bringing their sons to the island during the summer and when the opportunity to move to Catalina came up, they accepted. After two years of running the motel, they purchased it. «Cat Lodge» had many families that returned each year for their vacation until Ron and Bev decided it was time to close the motel. Bruce and Roberta were married on the island in the fall of 1978 and their daughters spent many summers and school vacations helping their grandparents run the family business. «Cat Lodge» was re-opened in 2010 by Bruce and Roberta. The past year has seen many changes with new beds, furniture, mounted flatscreen tv’s in addition to paint, wall paper removal, upgraded electrical. The rooms are also having ceilings and carpets replaced. The sun deck is scheduled to be resurfaced this year, adding another area for the guests to relax and bbq.
Meet the Business Owner
Roberta B.
Business Owner
I am the daughter-in-law of Ron and Bev Black, the previous owners of Catalina Lodge. My husband, Bruce, and I were married on the island in 1978 and spent many vacations and holidays here. Our daughters grew up helping their grandparents run the motel in Avalon. Catalina Lodge has been in our family for many years and will be passed down to our daughters and their families, as their grandparents wished.
