Catalina Adventure Tours

Had an absolute blast going on this tour. The guide, Manny, was amazing and helped us see everything from bison, eagles to close-​up Catalina foxes. The tour takes you from Avalon to the Airport-​in-​the-​Sky, which had a gift shop and café for a beer or coffee. It’s on the outside area at the airport we saw several baby foxes just a few feet away also. Thanks to Manny & Catalina Adventure Tours for an amazing experience on Catalina Island!!!

My wife and I went on the Inside Adventure Tour. Annette who works at the main office helped us get the tickets on the phone and make the reservations. She was very helpful. The ladies at the ticket window were also very helpful. This was my first time to Catalina. It was pretty slow since it’s the off season. Mannie was our tour guide/​driver and was very professional, informative, and courteous. We actually had a private tour because it was a slow weekend at Catalina. Overall we had a very nice time. We will definitely come again if we get the chance! Thanks Catalina Adventure Tours!

Catalina Adventure Tours made my birthday trip the best imaginable! We did the Safari Adventure Tour and it was sooo cool! You get into this huge military truck that takes you around the beautiful city and into the protected conservancy. (The mountains!!) We only saw one buffalo, as animal guest appearances are by chance, lol. The views were so spectacular and breathtaking. Manny was our driver and he was funny and entertaining. The very top is the Airport in The Sky. All staff were fantastic! Will do again next time I visit!
*Tips*
–If you’re going on this tour in the winter, or when it’s not too busy, avoid eating in the restaurant next to the airport. My husband and I chomped on hard cookies and the restaurant was so dusty, I was sneezing so much you’d think I was beat-​boxing.
–Check Groupon for deals, we paid $ 75 for $ 150 towards a tour!
–Chew gum on your way up, your ears WILL pop!

I took the Safari tour and had an amazing time. I learned so much about the island and appreciated the tour guide Manny sharing with his own personal twist. I recommend this tour to anyone who is ready for some adventure and beautiful views.

Soooo much fun! Our guide, Manny, was full of information and stories. We left the tour with beautiful pictures, a new appreciation of the island and with huge smiles from all of the laughter and fun!

Took the tour of the island with my girlfriends for my bachelorette. The truck we took to the top of
the island made us feel so adventurous. Our tour guide Manny was so knowledgeable of the island, and is an amazing friendly guide! We saw so many animals, and the views were breathtaking! This was definitely our favorite part of the trip to the island. This tour is a must-​do when visiting Catalina!

We did the submarine tour and saw so many beautiful fish! We took the2.5 hour bus tour and it was so worth it! Stopped at the airport and the tour guide was really fun and gave us lots of information. Very good location to buy tickets as well!

We went on the submarine tour and it was pretty neat. The tour costs $ 45 person and the tour is 45 minutes. They bring you to Lover’s cove where fishing is prohibited. Once you’re inside the submarine, you can purchased torpedo food shots to feed the fish. They will covered your whole entire glass.
It was quite fun. I’m glad we got to do this while visiting Catalina.

The submarine tour is amazing. Air-​conditioned and relaxing. For a few bucks more you can feed the fish with fish-​food-​launching torpedoes. The tour guides are friendly and knowledgeable. And best of all, we saw a SEA TURTLE! So cool. Highly recommend.

Had a great time on the Skyline Tour with my family. Tony was a great tour guide – funny, knowledgeable, and able to answer any questions. A great value that comes with unexpected perks!

Did the inland tour with Cindy Lowe as our guide — amazing! She was incredibly funny, informative, and entertaining. She also conducts the hummer tour. Definitely any tour will be better with Cindy!

Take a Safari Island Adventure. The vehicle took us to the Airport in the Sky. We sought out bison, squirrel, raven and fox. This tour accommodated our family size and ages, other tour will not allow children under the age of 5 to tour.
Be prepared for a pricey ticket price.

I had read tons of reviews for the Nautilus tour before I came to Catalina, and let me just assure you right now that it was worth the money you’ll spend. I didn’t book ahead of time, and there was no need to as there were submarine tours every hour available. I just walked up to the ticket booth and purchased our tickets. Ask for a AAA discount because it took off about $ 5 per ticket. We only waited about 10 minutes before we boarded the semi-​submarine. When we boarded, I noticed the couples made a beeline for the double seats instead of the single ones. The single ones are better because you both get a window seat. Just saying. Anyways, I had never been on anything like this before so I was amazed and in awe at all the large fish swarming around the submarine. The fish all know that the submarine releases food. They offer fish food you can buy, which will be shot out into the water like a cannon (you just push a button to release it). I didn’t buy any, because everyone else did and I could just watch theirs. Sit in the middle of the boat because the fish will swim back and forth between the front and back. Also, at the end the guide will activate every cannon at once, so everyone gets to see the fish eat in front of their window. There were lots of kids and they were all so excited to be there. They were literally screaming with delight. Which made it more fun for me. If I had kids, I would definitely bring them here. There were lots of fish, most of them gray but some bright ones as well. You could also see the kelp beds, which I thought would be terrifying to be near if I wasn’t in the submarine. Again, I had never done anything like this (no snorkeling, scuba diving, etc.), so I was very amazed the whole time. I could have spent the whole day there. But for someone who has seen lots of fish snorkeling or something, may not be as impressed. I don’t know. But I had a great time!

Really great experience once again. Used them for a glass bottom boat tour and a bus tour back when I was in school and had a great time, so we decided to try some tours to waste some time on a quick 2 day getaway. The glass bottom boat was great. It was a quiet day around the holidays, and the boat driver kept us entertained and was very knowledgeable. We saw tons of fish, but no sharks unfortunately. The Safari tour was definitely a great experience and worth checking out. Better than the previous bus tour by far, and had a lot of great information. Such beautiful natural land, and the tour was great to give extra info, such as all the conservation efforts going on. Overall a great way to spend part of the day.

I have spent a lot of time on Catalina and I have seen all the attractions. I have to say that Catalina Adventure Tours constantly delivers on service and originality. Each staff member you meet with them treats you like you are a long lost friend. They are all extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the island. The new Safari tour is amazing. I could not believe the view from atop «The General»! Great new spin on the tour of the island.

The customer service was great! There’s quite a bit of things to do on the island that is not too expensive either. We went on the glass bottom tour ($ 15 a ticket) which was 30 – 40 mins long and enjoyable. We also went on the skyline tour ($ 34 a ticket) which was awesome. Our driver was nice and told us the history of the island and we seen buffalo! Sit in the front if u get this tour cuz people talk and u can’t hear the driver behind the bus clearly.

I had a scheduling conflict with the ferry that I booked to go to Catalina for our family of 4. In order to make the needed changes to the reservation, I left 3 phone messages and was on hold for 4 minutes every time I called — totaling about 20 phone calls. I NEVER received a return call. I would absolutely give the customer service a ZERO (0) for their help and on call assistance.

People seem to complaint about the price, but they don’t know tours like this cost 2x as much anywhere else. If you are on a vacation, it’s well worth it.

Wow. This was a totally pleasant surprise. We spontaneously signed up for the submarine ride The Nautilus through Catalina Adventure Tours. A 45 min sub ride. What we got was so much more than we were expecting! It’s a real looking submarine that doesn’t actually go under the water– but the seating area is under the water. Nice seats– big huge windows to view the ocean– and not claustrophobic feeling at all. A movie screen tells you to what depths you are going to — it’s all for show– but gives it a Disneyland ride sort of feel. There are «torpedo» buttons at every seat, you can buy fish food and at designated times shoot your torpedoes out into the water to feed the fish. Now these Catalina fish must be used to tourists on this sub because within minutes of leaving the dock, we were SURROUNDED by hundreds and hundreds of schools of fish with perfect viewing out our windows. The sub goes to Lover’s Cove where there are large kelp forests and bang, there are TONS of fish surrounding the boat. You shoot your «torpedoes» and the fish go nuts feeding. Amazing viewing of lots of species of fish. The «captain» was super nice and informative. The last few minutes of the journey, you are allowed to stand on the top deck. Really fun! Totally recommend this!

Really friendly and smooth voyage 12 inches below the deep ocean. Lol. Took my wife on this when we were on vacation back in November 2011 and it was a nice little piece of entertainment on the island. Recommended highly for children but nice and interesting for couples.
