I really like the people at Wok on Fire and I’m usually happy with the food. They have a fair amount of vegetarian options and the lady that always helps us is very nice to my kids. This last visit I got a garlic sauce dish and it was sweet. Like dessert sweet. I could barely eat it and had to add a ton of hot chili sauce to make it tolerable. They have good egg rolls which is a big deal to me. One bad experience in many won’t keep me from going back but I won’t order the garlic sauce dishes again.

We just tried this for the first time. I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews but the staff was really friendly and it was easy to order over the phone. We did pick up and the place was very clean and the staff was really nice(I think because they are nice people rather than they know better to be mean to a hungry pregnant lady). The food was good and the portions were huge. I did have to knock it one star because I have had better orange chicken but did still enjoy the chicken.

I’ve tried all of the Asian food restaurants in SW Austin and Wok on Fire consistently has the best food for take-out or home delivery.

I have lived in this area for years and actually am a patron of many businesses in the same shopping center(e.g., Bush’s Chicken, T&S Nails, Palm Beach Tan, Reid’s Dry Cleaners, etc.) weekly. I have always seen this place and wanted to stop. Was in a bit of a hurry today and stopped here to pick up lunch. Bad idea. When I walked in the restaurant was plain and seemed unclean — like they just wipe down the tables each evening and maybe push around a mop once a day or so. I ordered mongolian beef, orange chicken, plain lo mein, and fried pork dumplings. Not a single thing was good. The mongolian beef was pretty bland except for, what seemed to be raw, minced garlic dumped in at the last minute.(If it wasn’t garlic then not sure what it was.) The lo mein was exactly the same — probably same sauce — but was mushy and stuck to my teeth like the noodles because the noodles were WAY over cooked. The orange chicken was just as boring as the other two dishes mentioned tasting like it was pre-prepared and just scooped into he to go container. The last was the fried pork dumplings. The flavor of the dumpling wasn’t all that bad but the sauce was beyond terrible. Each of the entrees included two chicken wings(random and unnecessary and fried to a point they were almost inedible), a egg roll, and white rice(which I asked to sub lo mein but they said that was absolutely not allowed even for an uncharge — so I had to order a separate side — the rice went to the trash). The most appalling thing was that I was quoted about 10 minutes since there weren’t many orders ahead of mine. I ran an errand, came back and it still wasn’t ready. I heard the very nice server that took my order go to the back(multiple times) and yell/plead with the cook to prepare my order. I will absolutely never take my business to this place again. There are SO many other better Chinese restaurants all throughout South Austin.

Horrible customer service. The food is okay but not worth the lack of regard for the customer. We recently went back to Wok on Fire after seizing to use them several years back because of their poor customer service and refusal to make our orders right once the food was delivered. Well, on Friday they shorted our food and today we were charged twice after cancelling our order due to the owner’s lack of respect and horrible customer service. Upon cancellation, I checked my bank account to verify Friday’s credit for food we did not received and noticed no credit on my account and in fact, I had been billed twice for my canceled order today. When I called for a correction of the over $ 175, the owner, who is rude as heck, refused to credit my account, threatened to call the police and hung up on me. This was after refusing to give me her name. I called the police myself and made a report for fraud charges as we did not purchase any food today and did not get the food we paid for on Friday. We made a huge mistake going back. New management my behind, this is the same old rude and disrespectful management from before. Funny thing is, I’ve told a couple of people in my neighborhood and they all experienced the same. Don’t do it. This is a bad spot to eat if you want to treated like a person and not an animal or a piece of crap!

I was just there to order something to go I know it may sound weird but Like the brown sauce instead of sweet and sour sauce the lady refused to let me order it on the side I told I would pay and she kept saying no whatever happened to customer service she kept saying it’s different sauce I replied I know that which is why I am willing to pay for it. No no she said so I left and came to being wok down the street and they didn’t bat an eyelash at my request. Will never go to work on fire again!!!

Was craving some greasy goodness tonight and went ahead and ordered from this place. Delivery was pretty quick. We had our food in half hour which is pretty awesome compared to the others. The food itself wasn’t bad. I liked the add on of soup, rice, eggroll, and two wings for 2 bucks. The reason for 1 star was the long 6 inch hair I found in my entrée after eating half of it. Grossed out, I didn’t eat anymore. Easy resolution for the place, make your cooks wear a hair net. HAIRNET. Oooh and my fortune cookie had no fortune. though they probably had no control over that one.

I actually like wok on fire, the food is as my rating suggests ok. I’ve been to the establishment multiple times since the first meal I had there. Now by no means is this a sign that it’s the première Asian restaurant in the are. Yes there is much better Asian fare out here folks, however if you want to eat something reasonably priced and not total junk I believe they fit the bill. Now if you read any of my reviews I’m on that cleanliness tip hard. Yeah people can fool ya but at least present yourself in that manner. They do and I must say I’ve never walked in to eat and witnessed trash strewn all over the place or a bunch tables left dirty. I have never felt unwelcomed, nor have I been disrespected by the staff their to my knowledge. The people who have waited on me each time have been pleasant and patient(I can take time ordering). I never experienced any absurd wait times on my meals, nor have I ever had luke warm or cold food. I’ve been dining here since 2013 and although I’ve only been here perhaps 4 times since they’re consistent. I like the orange chicken and couple more dishes that don’t come to mind. I say give it a try around lunch because the prices are reasonable. I had co-worker go with me and he couldn’t believe the portions. They’re not to the level of some eateries but large enough. I say Wok on fire flames on with average food but you get what you pay for.

Overall decent food and quick takeout experience. I called in the order to sesame chicken and orange chicken and they said it would be ready in 10 – 15 minutes. I left my house 5 minutes later arriving within that 10 – 15 minute window and the food was ready. No waiting required. I brought it back home and ate and the food was nice. It appeared fresh and had large chunks of chicken. I think we will continue coming here. We used to go to Beijing Wok down the street. No more. Better food and more convenient at this restaurant. 5 stars. Zero complaints.

I’ve read a lot of negative reviews here, especially regarding the service. I ordered tonight for the first time. Can’t say it’s the best Chinese food I’ve ever had, but what we ordered was pretty tasty. More so, though, the delivery was fast, correct and the delivery girl was super polite and sweet.

Worst service ever, I live in Buda which is about a 15 minute drive and I called in and placed 3 order to go. The girl on the phone took my order, read the order back to me and everything was correct. I go pick up the food, get home and I am missing a complete order. Now one of my kids is missing his lunch. I call back to speak to someone about my missing order and the rude girl on the phone tells me that I am wrong and never ordered the missing dish. I explained to her that she was the one who took my order, read it back to me and everything was correct. She just went on arguing with me about how I am wrong. I will never go back to this place again. I got home, threw the good in the trash and I’m going to go eat something else. If you like missing your orders, being called a liar, and poor service. Then this is the right place for you.

UPDATE… THISPLACESTILLSUCKS!!! So I was stupid enough to give wok on fire another chance and the very RUDE delivery driver commented on how we didn’t tip her(we live A BLOCK down the street). They also charged us a delivery fee which is not stated anywhere on their menu, website, or at their establishment. I called to speak to the manager and the girl on the phone told me she wasn’t there, but took my phone number so she could call me back. 20 minutes later I decided to take manners into my own hands and go down to the store. The manager came out immediately(she didn’t know I was there) and I told her that the delivery driver demanded a tip from us! Just so people know… TIPPINGISOPTIONAL!!! Yes, it’s nice, but NOT a requirement! She said she was sorry for the delivery driver and I told her I would like to speak directly to her when she got there and that I would wait. I then told her about the over charge on my food… she said that there is a $ 2 delivery charge and brought up my receipt… with a $ 3 delivery charge… so she obviously doesn’t know what they charge! I asked her to show me where the menu said there was a delivery charge which she very nervously laughed. I demanded it back since nothing says that you charge it and she finally caved and gave it to me in cash. Then the delivery driver girl showed up… she looked right at me as the girl that answers the phone whispered something to her and the mama bear manager spoke to her in her native language… I understood«delivery fee» in there so I know they were talking about me. I guess Mama Fu got tired of me yelling at her so she threw the delivery girl under the bus and told me she delivered my food. I told her how rude it was to ASK for a tip and that you just don’t do that and she yelled at me! She said that she asked at our door what was wrong and what she could do to fix it since we didn’t tip… I told her that she could lie to save her ass all she wanted but that she didn’t say that! Needless to say she kept yelling at me and I told her that she obviously never learned that the customer is always right and that I know English isn’t her first language but that she should understand«be quiet, I’m talking» when it’s being said to her. Needless to say, I left telling them that the lost us again and that we would never come back(over $ 50 orders every single time) and it was totally her fault! Fool me once, shame on me… fool me twice, and I’m going to a new Chinese place! Wok on fire, all I have to say is Bye Felicia!

I am changing my original review. The vegetables are fresh but that’s really the only good thing. I ordered the seafood delight which is one of their pricier items and it was too small and they served it with imitation crab meat. The little sticks that come from the grocery store. I expect real crab and a large mix of seafood. They don’t make the food spicy enough either. I thought I liked this place but not anymore. No wonder the dining room is always empty.

Is there a way to do minus star!?! These people do not deserve one star. This is a total waste of money. The food was bad & service was terrible. After we placed our order we had to wait 15 minutes for the girl to come and bring us our soup but she didn’t bring any silverware. I had asked for some crispy noodles for my soup which they said yes but forgot those too. When they did bring them they were stale and nasty. They brought my dinner out with the appetizers and after we had appetizers and sat and waited again we had to remind them that my husband never got his food. My dinner was cold and tasteless. When I mentioned something to them about the Quality of our food they seemed pretty apathetic. I guess you’re used to people complaining. So we ended up paying $ 23 for one meal, two bowls of soup and two eggrolls.

I tried to get someone’s attention For five minutes, the place was empty! Two other customers came in as well. I finally had to open the kitchen door to get someone’s attention and she comes out and says they can’t cook anything for twenty minutes because they are having a state inspection. I told her that they should close the restaurant during this time. The two other customers called in their order and was told that it wasn’t ready due to inspection! The employee states«it’s only twenty minutes then we can cook». Really? We are all on our lunch break and can’t wait for Twenty minutes. I won’t come again. This was my first and last visit.

Prices online are inaccurate. I ordered dinner for the family, and had to ask for the total. When I received it, it seemed high, so I asked for a quick breakout of the pricing, along with a lot of «Gee, I know you’re busy!» and«Gosh, the prices seem higher than they are on the menu!» thrown in. Turned out I was right. Each item was priced $ 2.00 more than menu price. That amounted to about $ 14.00, not counting tax, more than I thought I’d be paying. When I pointed out the discrepancy to the girl on the phone, her response was petulant, unapologetic, rude and annoyed, all rolled up neatly into one«I don’t give a %#@&». After ordering from these guys once every three weeks for over a year, we won’t be ordering from them again. I won’t pay for rude, but I can and will certainly frequent other nearby establishments from now on. BTW, I canceled the order with WOF and then ordered from someone else for delivery. Their food was better, the prices more reasonable, and the folks I dealt with were wonderful! The other place now have a new, loyal and appreciative customer.

I hate to knock this place because I think it’s a mom and pop establishment and I’m all about supporting local small businesses but this place is pretty awful. Every dish we had was overly doused with corn starch so everything was really tasteless and gelatinous. Even the hot and sour soup was like a cup of hot and sour jelly. Nasty. My wife ordered the chicken and shrimp corn starch stir fry, it came with a westernized egg roll and a chicken wing, total was $ 14!!! Not worth even half of that. There is nothing authentic about this place. It’s Americanized Chinese food, about a few notches below Panda Express. Steer clear.

I would give it half a star if I could. I ordered delivery and when it arrived an hour later, the delivery girl had my dish sitting sideways in the plastic bag and the lid wasn’t all the way. Therefore, the sauce had leaked all into the bag. When I called to comment, she told me the best she could do get me a new dish if I go to the store. I told her it was delivery for a reason, I didn’t have a vehicle to take me there. She very rudely replied with just a «sorry». I hope management looks at these reviews to know how horrible the service was.
