Tried takeout for the first time today — crab and egg rolls were very good — not the least bit greasy. Salmon salad was not just lettuce — a generous salmon filet on spinach with shredded carrot, cashews and crispy wonton strips. Will definitely return.

I gave this place over a year to improve, but I do not recommend their food poisoning. I used to really enjoy Bamboo Bistro when they first opened on west gate, but since then this restaurant has been on a steady decline. It began with orders coming in wrong with over cooked items, & has ended with Bamboo Bistro giving not only myself, but also my 3 year old son food poisoning from one of the simplest dishes, the beef broccoli. I will not be returning ever again to Bamboo Bistro. I would suggest you do the same to avoid food poisoning. I gave this place a year to improve, but instead they gave my son & myself. Please trust me when I say do not waste your money here.

I’ve always been pretty skeptical about Asian fusion restaurants, and this place was pretty bad. I tried the pad Thai and chicken lo mein and they were both horrible. From the start the pad Thai didn’t have the orange color that it was supposed to have, it was bland and just tasted like cilantro with sweet sauce. Hands down the worst pad Thai I’ve ever had. The Lo mein was really greasy/oily and I would have rather eaten anywhere else. the egg roll was pretty good but it was dripping juice which makes me think it was frozen. Never coming here again, and honestly I’m not surprised.

Absolutely, no question, hands down, no comparison best Chinese delivery in South Austin. It puts every other delivery to shame, it’s no contest. Do you like: Crispy Vegetables? Lean Protein(no fatty parts)? Moist rice? Endless flavor? Fresh everything? I have eaten here 6 times in 2 months and I feel guilty for not having left a review yet. keeping it a secret. But they deserve the recognition.

Bamboo Bistro is great! It’s mostly your standard Chinese fair but their interpretations are above average, plus they deliver. Try the Singapore Noodles!

I came here with my family. It was very delicious, we all ordered different things. I ordered the Crispy Shrimp & it was worth it! Chris was very attentive.

I just moved close to Bamboo Bistro so I decided to try it out since it had good reviews on here. General Tso Chicken is what I always order at all Chinese restaurants and at Bamboo Bistro it looked the right color and texture, but it tasted like burnt soy sauce and was also not spicy whatsoever. The fried rice was dry, the steamed potstickers were just ok, the egg roll was good, and the cream cheese wontons had a little too much green onion. I feel like it was a waste of my money and will definitely just keep ordering from Hunan Lion and China Dynasty.

Pretty decent quality and quantity for the price and location AND they deliver. So I feel like appetizers are pretty general for most Chinese delivery. I had the edamame, eggroll, and pork dumplings. All average in flavor and price. Entrée…hands down the honey chicken. Sooo good, nice light crunch, sweet savory sauce… I will order this again and try the shrimp. The curry fried rice was alright but was missing something. I needed something to lighten up the curry spice. Overall I enjoyed the meal and hope to try the Pad Thai next.

I love the spring rolls and miso soup. Pretty good deal. Can be a little pricey but a great go to for everything Chinese!

we were pleasantly surprised! This is great take out. We ordered via the online Unilocal thing, and although they quoted 45 – 60 minutes, they were there closer to 35 minutes. The food was tasty, and fresh. Their pepper«heat» scale is accurate. The thai rice was yummy!!! The cashew beef was in a very tasty sauce and none of the dishes were excessively salty. Will definitely do again

Wow! Just wow! This place is awesome! The food is fresh, healthy, the portions are generous and the taste is out of this world. Not to mention their prices are very reasonable… Hands down the best Thai/Chinese place in south Austin. You will not be disappointed! I do not miss the KFC that used to be there hahah

I’ve never been to this actual restaurant, only ordered online. When I moved to South Austin from North Austin, I tried a string of bad Chinese food places and then saw that Bamboo Bistro had a south location. Service: Their mobile site is awesome, I always order from my iPad, the orders are always what I ordered, and the food always arrives within the estimated time frame(usually on the shorter end). All of the delivery people have been courteous. Favorite things to order: The lo mein(any variety though I usually do shrimp or chicken) is awesome. If you pay to add some extra veggies in it makes it even better. Their sesame chicken is heaven. I usually get it over fried rice and pay to add in broccoli. Egg drop soup = perfect. In short, it is definitely worth it to pay a couple of bucks extra per entrée to get consistently good food.

Asian Fusion that rocks. Made fesh, dine in, take out and catered, large portions of reasonably priced, tasty food. Vegetarian friendly. Service is always good. Chris manages this south store. He’s totally service oriented… always smiling and friendly. As a rule I don’t give 5 stars… I have to keep something in reserve, don’t yah know, for that place that just totally blows me away. I give Chris and the gang a 4+.

Sooooooo the food was pretty good! Not the best Chinese food I’ve had(or will have) but definitely worth the price. What made this experience extra wonderful is that I ordered some vegetarian options and thought they had meat in them after taking that first bite. Panic ensued because I don’t want to spend the rest of my evening on the toilet(fellow vegetarians may understand). Anyway, I called and told them(kind of low-key rudely) about the mistake. The guy was super patient and explained that, in fact, I was the wrong one. Apparently they use soy-based proteins in some of their meatless options that are similar to meat in texture so they get this comment a lot. After all of that, we chatted about all of their vegetarian options and how they use mushroom stock in place of chicken stock for their soups, etc etc. Then he asked about everything else we ordered and it was a grand olé time. Basically, the food is good, the service is great, and now I am friends with whoever mans the phone over there.

For what it is(a fast food Chinese/Thai place), Bamboo Bistro is delicious! They have lots of options and you can get anything with your choice of protein. So far we’ve had the pad Thai, jalapeño chicken, crispy chefs shrimp, Mongolian chicken, Kung Pao chicken, habanero wings and the Thai basil wings. Every single dish has been delicious. The pad Thai was not the best, I’ve had, but it was still pretty delish! Overall, for $ 7.95 and a delicious meal, I’ll be back for more.

Great Asian fast food. Why haven’t I been here before? The value for the money is amazing, considering the quality and quantity of food and flavor. Ordered samosas — nice hot crisp little bites of yum. Crispy tofu — lovely crunch with a silken interior and a dollop of peanut sauce. Lettuce wraps — plenty for an entrée, and Thai basil chicken, which was a generous portion and quite spicy. All this was $ 20 including tax, and after the two of dined we had enough left for someone’s lunch tomorrow. Is this the next Uchi? No. But you can dine like a king here for not mucho dinero, and it tastes really good. Staff is friendly and efficient, too.

Great«fast food» pan Asian cuisine. If you go in expecting your typical fast food Chinese experience you will be pleasantly surprised. This is nothing like the Chinese food at the mall with over cooked chicken warming under a heat lamp. The food here was fresh, made to order, and extremely tasty. I’ve had the sesame chicken, the orange peel shrimp & the Mongolian beef. All of these have been super. I also recommend the dumplings and the samosas.(Don’t forget the dipping sauces, they’re delicious) The dine-in experience was pleasant and clean, but nothing fancy. This is a great neighborhood place for families and a casual meal.

I had been curious about this place for awhile since I pass by it all the time. Finally I was at home and did not want to get out so I decided to give it a try since they deliver to my house. I called and it was super easy to order over the phone. You can also order online too on their website. I ordered the chicken pad Thai(I am still on the search for the best pad Thai), pork fried pot stickers and a Thai tea. When the food arrived and I unpacked it I was pleasantly surprised by the packaging. I always like it when a restaurant has nice packaging for to go food. Styrofoam I feel is so out of date and not environmentally conscious. The pork fried pot stickers were OK. I should have gotten them steamed I think, but they did have a decent flavor. The chicken pad Thai I could tell right away was lacking a bit of color to it. As I ate it I definitely think it needed more flavor, spice and overall stuff in general. It was there but just not enough. All other pad Thais I have had are much more colorful. The Thai tea was tasty and delicious. My fried had order the curry fried rice with veggies and she was not a huge fan of it. The menu here is quite extensive as they do most Asian food in general and do not specialize. Next time I will try something different on the menu. FYI — there is a $ 16 dollar minimum for delivery.

My friends do not live too far away from this place and were looking for somewhere that delivered so we gave it a try. I ordered the chicken Thai friend rice with spicy soup and crab ragoons. The fried rice was a disappointment. It tasted like it had freezer burn or something. My soup seemed off, like one kind of sour flavor took over and it was not supposed to be a sour soup. The crab ragoons were not crispy and didn’t seem too fresh. My friend got the pad Thai and she said is wasn’t the best and her pot stickers she ordered are still in the fridge from days ago if that says anything. I should have tried the Singapore like I wanted to. After reading reviews that looks like the only thing that ever gets a good rating. I would have much rather driven and picked up some food from another place that didn’t deliver.
