I have lived here for a little over two years. I have enjoyed the location to town lake and the eateries in Clarksville. I am in my late 30’s and don’t go bar hopping like my younger neighbors. Honestly, I don’t hear any street noise or cars, it’s my neighbors walking on the wooden walkway outside my apartment at all hours of the night that bothers me the most.
I would say I am one of the 8 lucky tenants whose apartment is located next to the stairwell, which gives me a larger space called a «den». It actually is like a second bedroom, I use as an office. I have a farm kitchen sink in a galley kitchen. It has been so nice as I like to cook. The best part is the ceiling fans in each room! I’ve lived a lot of places and getting one fan seems to be a splurge for mgmt. companies. Unfortunately, getting the temperature comfortable throughout the apt. from the wall unit is challenging for me. But many people I talk to have no problem in their unit.
I have been happy with Westside Group and would recommend renting with them.

6^th Street West apartments offers such low prices for such a desirable location. You’re essentially living DT at a cost that you can’t find unless you search 10+ miles away from DT. 6^th St. West is located in the gem of a neighborhood called Clarksville. You get to be a part of this elite neighborhood without paying an elite cost. Perks of living in Clarksville are some of the nicest restaurants and most unique shopping that the city has to offer. Within walking distance is a convenience store and full grocery store, so you never really have to travel far to get the things you need. One thing I appreciate most is less than $ 7 Über/​Lyft to all nightlife districts (West, Dirty, Rainey, East). Being on the edge of DT makes it easy to get around w/​o all of the travel delays/​construction frustration — This location gives you quick and easy access to Mopac, Enfield/​15^th. The management staff is easy to get a hold of and quick to respond. Maintenance requests are never ignored and handled very quickly. Last, but not least, I appreciate that parking is included in the low rate and you also have access to request free guest parking passes — which is nearly unheard of in this town!

I have lived in East Austin, South Austin and this is by far the best location I have lived. It is close to everything (downtown, Zilker, Greenbelt, restaurants) as well as the major freeway to get you anywhere farther away. In comparison to the other places this was also far cheaper and I would say one of the best value’s that you can find in Austin.
They have a great pool that often has residents hanging out but is never overly crowded. It is a pretty eclectic group of people and I have made several friends within the complex.
Management was a little difficult to deal with at first but really they are just trying to manage tenant expectations and they have responded quickly to requests, made appropriate repairs and were very fair in replacing our old appliances.

Great price for the location, and the office was always fast to respond to maintenance issues. However, the manager is unfriendly and sometimes openly sarcastic and hostile… not super fun to contact when you need to. You can pay rent online, which is nice.
The walls are extremely thin and I could hear other tenants as clearly as if they were in my apartment. The pipes are loud, and getting hot water in the shower is a battle every day during the winter because there’s just one small water heater for 11 apartments. When I called to ask if he could turn up the temperature on the water heater, the manager said he didn’t believe I was having a hot water problem since «no one else has called to bitch about it yet.»
A major problem with this complex is that there are apparently no leash rules, or at least, no one leashes their dogs and the office doesn’t care. This means that there’s dog waste EVERYWHERE and the complex absolutely reeks of it, especially in the hot Austin sun. This attracts RATS and other pests.
Because no one uses leashes, dogs were also constantly rushing and jumping on me and my boyfriend’s dog. If you’re a pet owner, be aware that aggressive and physical behavior from other dogs is a frequent risk here. Even if you’re not a pet owner, expect to be woken up in the middle of the night when one tenant in particular loses his doberman for the third time that day and wanders the complex screaming his name.
I’m a clean freak and moved out with an almost spotless apartment, but I could’ve saved myself a lot of time and energy because they kept $ 200 for cleaning fees anyway. The office insisted that I provide proof that I cleaned (um?) and told me tenants are always charged these fees, which makes it a nonrefundable cleaning fee, not a refundable deposit. Very disingenuous practice, I was pretty shocked by that.

I lived at 1616 West 6^th for a year and it was by far the worst apartment I’ve lived in Austin. I payed my rent on time and didn’t have any maintenance issues but the leasing-​agents were always rude and «too busy to be bothered.»
This place looks like a Motel 6 converted into a hipster haven in downtown Austin and attracts 20 and 30’s somethings who like to stay up late and experiment with banjos, accordions and other loud, annoying instruments. The walls are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING said by the tenants on the 2^nd floor. I vividly remember a pot-​induced conversation my upstairs neighbors had at 4 AM (they were high, I was not.)
If you have to wake up at a decent time in the morning for work and value your sleep, I suggest you look somewhere else. The prices seem «Too good to be true.» There is no such thing as a «good deal» in Austin. You pay what you get.

I have now lived in one of their properties for a year now. I can echo the sentiments of other Unilocalers, that they post thousands of times on Craigslist under different title and with different pictures. The apartment itself was fairly old (having been built in the 70s) and not well maintained (cabinets painted different colors than the doors, showers with mold, spotted carpet, etc.) The washers and dryers (coin operated) are in disrepair and also very old. Also they have the nerve to charge us $ 1.25 per load, after charging us so much monthly you think they could throw in the laundry. The apartment occasionally gets roaches as well. With all that said, the company has generally been very responsive to my service requests, fixing what could be repaired usually in the same day I ask. Even replacing the AC unit completely. The rent is reasonable for the area if not a little on the cheap side (you get what you pay for I guess). Their staff is usually friendly-​ish, although can be incompetent at times. My experience with this company has been mixed but generally more negative than positive.
