Wendi was recently honored in Texas Monthly Magazine for being in the top 4% of Austin area REALTORS and she is a 2013 and 2014 winner of the Five Star Real Estate Agent Award. Wendi is a Master Certified Negotiation Expert, and a member of the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing.

This review is a little overdue. Wendi and Krystal helped us purchase our first home about two years ago. I knew so little about buying a house, it was hysterical (I did not think that all realtors had access to all the MLS listings, it was BAD but they did not judge or laugh). Krystal was our realtor and was looking hard with us. Wendi did not have to spend her time coming out to BFE with us to look at houses that we might not even end up buying. But she did and we are grateful. They gave us honest feedback when we needed it and were patient when we seemed to have found something that fit the bill but «didn’t feel like home». Moreover, they were part of the process with us like family. What else do you really want from someone you are going to «hire» to look for a home with you?
The house that we finally purchased was not «ready» by any means, but knowing that we were going in for renovations, they saw the immense potential that we were too inexperienced to see. There were things about the house that we did not even know we wanted (side facing garage, we are addicted) and there were things about the house that we did not understand were rare (you will be surprised at how few houses have a master suite downstairs with two HVAC units). When the choosing was over, they took care of the rest for us. Negotiating, putting in an offer, getting the buyer to take our offer before the weekend (how do you even manage to do that in this market), ironing out any kinks, coordinating with the home owners to get our contractors in for estimates. You name it, they did it.
Today, people tell us how «lucky» we were to find our house with its large kitchen, guest bedrooms/​bath upstairs, large corner plot, great façade and plenty of natural sunlight. Truth is, we were lucky to have found Roots, Wendi and Krystal. We will never look anywhere else for our real estate needs. Ever. SO, if you are looking for a realtor, just stop and pick up the phone already. I’ve done the searching for you and you have arrived. You’re welcome.

I am new to Austin and had several friends recommend their realtors to me, but with Austin being one of the hottest real estate markets in the US, I knew I needed a champion realtor to find the right home. Fortunately, I met Wendi by chance and instantly asked her to be my realtor. Her personality was warm, professional and confident– no hard sell or pressure. I have bought and sold over 15 homes in the last 25 years all over the US and have NEVER had this type of 5 star service or experience than what I had with Wendi Slaton Anderson. Wendi brings professionalism, creativity, sharp negotiating skills, and experience with proven results. Her communication was frequent and totally on the mark in finding solutions for my needs. She completely heard my needs, gave me what I wanted and then more. She surrounds herself with incredible teammates (Krystal Shaw, Roots Real Estate) so no ball is EVER dropped. Her large network of business associates made the purchase and closing a complete breeze with absolute NO bumps in the road. Never have I experienced such a Ritz Carlton experience of buying a house from the search to the closing. I have bragged on her service and company to everyone I know. Buying a home in Austin is a real challenge these days, so if you need the sharpest and brightest tack in the business, I would highly recommend Wendi with Roots Real Estate.

I wish there were room for more stars… she deserves 10!
I was referred to Wendi after almost 2 years of searching for a home. We met at Starbucks and immediately it felt like we were best friends! Wendi has a great attitude and her smile is contagious. If you meet her, you’ll know what I’m talking about!
Once our home was under contract (which didn’t take long) Wendi went to bat for me! She is a great negotiator and will do everything she can to get you the best deal!
She was always honest and walked me through the entire process. We never missed a beat!
I cannot put into words how happy I am to have found her, she made the whole process of buying a home– fun, exciting and easy… and that’s exactly how it should be :)

Wendi knows her stuff. If you’re looking to buy a property of any kind, just tell her what you want and she’ll find it for you. I mentioned in passing that we were looking for our next investment property and here we are, four months later, with a great new condo. She found an awesome property for us, but we were a little too slow with our offer on the first one. She said, «No problem — let’s find you another one!» and she did.
She was willing to bring any offer we wanted to the table, but when we asked for her advice, she knew exactly what we should offer and walked us through her reasoning step by step. She went above and beyond on our purchase!
She is laid back, fun, and such an awesome person that you want to spend time with her, even if you’re just chatting while watching an inspector walk around the place. And as someone else commented here on Unilocal,it’s nice to have a real estate agent you like to hang out with because you will be hanging out with them quite a bit!

She was already an agent and I was in the process of getting my license, she took time to talk with me about the business. Wendi is so great. I really feel like she is looking out for us and has our best interests in mind. We bought our first home five years ago. That realtor was okay (ish) but I always secretly suspected that he was mainly intersted in making the most amount of money off of us as possible while doing the least amount of work. Wendi was recommended to us by a close friend. And with good reason. She is super calm and personable and seems to have an endless amount of knowledge related to this business. Wendi has worked with us in the buying and selling of TWO homes! We are return customers and will continue to be with any future properties. While some Realtors take off Sundays or stop working after 5pm, Wendi works nonstop, putting forth as much effort as it takes to find/​sell your home. The long version:
I met Wendi while working at Starbucks. I was working two jobs and trying to get ahead to purchase a home. She, of course, did not know this and was simply a regular who enjoyed her coffee with us a couple times a week and would share pleasant small talk with me.
One day, after some chit chat, I learned she was a real estate agent and I asked if she would mind answering some questions about home buying. She cheerfully obliged, stayed with me for 15+ minutes providing great insight to questions which must have seemed odd for a guy slinging coffee. At the end, I was 100% impressed and asked for a card while telling her she’d be hearing from me.
Well, it took another year or so, but call her I did. She was great to work with – both professionally and personally – which is important. (For those who don’t know – you will spend lots of time with your agent. You want to have one who is fun and enjoyable to be around.)
She always had time for me and showed up for things she didn’t even need to be there for (like the inspection of the home). Wendi was reliable, prompt, and never had anything else on her mind besides finding me the perfect home – which she did!
Another bonus, she understands how frustrating and complicated the mortgage side can be and has gone out of her way to find some of the best brokers in town. You’ll be spending lots of time with them as well. Like Wendi, they’re great people who are great at their job and are pleasant to spend time with.
Trust me, I have seen both sides on this one. Some brokers are trying to «sell» you. Some are trying to help you… It makes a big difference in both your experience and your bank account. (Not sure if it’s kosher to mention, but Jack L., who is on this review page, was the guy who helped me. Very, very good guy).
Thanks to Wendi, my wife and I found a home we love in an area we thought we couldn’t afford at a price well within our budget. We couldn’t be happier.

Wendi helped us find and purchase our first house. Just as some of these other reviewers say, she treats a smaller budget first time home with the same attention as a seven figure purchase, which I hear is very rare to find in a real estate agent. She’s extremely helpful with realistic expectations, honest about negatives, positives and potential resale value. My favorite quote from her is «I want you to get a great house at a good price because I’m the one that has to help you sell it 5 years from now.» It really makes you feel like she cares and is in it for the long haul. Her response time is amazing as well as her dedication and negotiating skills. She helped us get an amazing starter house for under market value, which is a difficult challenge in a real estate environment like we have in Austin right now. I plan on highly recommending her to friends and family as well as working with her for any future real estate needs.

When it came time to sell our house I went through the process of interviewing 3 different agents. I asked question after question and posed hoop after hoop to jump through. Wendi ran circles around her competition, and she was the only one who actually made me feel like our house was going to sell… despite being in a slower-​moving area. She blew those other agents out of the water. And as if that weren’t enough, the best part is that she got us $ 5,000 above the sales price we’d agreed to take! It was strategic negotiating and years of experience at its best! We have since referred Wendi out numerous times to equally happy and impressed friends.
Wendi is energetic, knowledgable, savvy, and she takes pride in her job. She walks you through the emotional roller coaster of a process like you actually matter, and she becomes your friend in the process. Highly recommend.

Wendi first helped us helped us with the purchase of our first home, which was a much longer process than we expected. This was back when the market was super hot. We must have seen at least 20 houses and kept getting outbid or the house would already be pending by the time we got to it, which was usually the day it listed! She was very patient with us. Though we were buying a starter home, she treated us with the same care and attention as if were were buying a million dollar property. She stuck with us after we took ourselves off the market and through the entire year that it took to build the new house we ended up choosing. She researched the builder to make sure it was a good investment and worked closely with the sales office to ensure we got the best deal possible.
When we were ready to sell that home and buy our ‘forever home,’ she was the only agent/​broker we considered. Again, she gave us the same care and attention as clients selling a million dollar property. She sent in a professional photographer, marketed our house very professionally, and brought in a dream offer within 3 days!
She quickly helped us look at multiple properties in our target area. She was very honest about which ones she felt had potential and would be a good investment and which ones we should steer clear of. Once we found the house for us, she worked late into the night for several nights on offers and contracts, snagging our house for less than asking in the middle of another hot sellers’ market!
Wendi is a master negotiator, she’s very dependable, and she is a joy to work with. We’ve referred many friends to her, who have all been very satisfied, and we would refer her again and again. Oh, and if we ever move, we will be the only agent/​broker we call.
