Victory Medical Center

I’ve seen Dr. Prajapati at Victory Medical twice & my experiences with her were the exact opposite of what I’m about to describe. When a common ailment took a frightening turn I couldn’t get in to see Dr Prjapati for a full week, so I went to Victory Medical’s Urgent Care on Bee Caves.
I waited almost 1.5 hours to see the worst doctor I’ve ever encountered.
I didn’t, even for a moment, feel that Dr. Patricia Hanley was present with me.
She started trying to sell me on having a colonoscopy before we really discussed the problem I’d come in for.
Dr. Hanley told me she’d read my chart & knew all about me, but had failed to absorb the facts that I have seizures and that I’d had major surgery a mere month ago– both of which are MAJOR factors in my health care.
There was no systematic scientific inquiry about my ailments. Dr. Hanley jumped around from topic to topic. On more that one instance she said «we’re going to do «X», then said «no, we’ll do «Y».
Her explanation of how the medicine she wanted to prescribe works was convoluted, at best.
Dr. Hanley caused considerable pain when she pressed on my upper abdomen. I gasped & flinched, but she just kept going.
She walked out of the room in what I perceived as the middle of a discussion, muttering that she was going to print out my options. When she was gone more than 10 minutes I poked my head out the door as she was coming out of another room. At that point she tried to pawn me off on the nurse to «finish up». I declined this course of action.
She was very antagonistic at this point, as if I my expectation of a thorough & professional exam was an affront.
When I questioned her methodology & brought up the fact that she ignored the pain she caused during the physical exam, she said «The patient did not voice…» She actually referred to me as «the patient»!
In the end she prescribed ultrasounds & x-​rays that I expect would cost thousands, all without telling me what we’d be looking for.
She also prescribed a barrage of blood tests, none of which had any direct bearing on what I’d come in for, and most of which I have done every 6 – 12 weeks through my endocrinologist… If she’d bothered to ask me about any of this, or attempted to explain where she was going, she could have made informed & responsible recommendations.
As it turns out, the cause of my main complaint was muscular. If Dr Hanley had actually been attentive to me & stayed on point she could have probably diagnosed this readily enough and prescribed the appropriate treatment. Treatment which would not have included running around town getting thousands of dollars worth of frivolous tests.

I have been a patient for years, currently Catherine Lewis NP. I am so happy with her. I went with my husband for his fu appointment today, at his request. I was forced to stand while Dr. Kim explained test results extensively. I hinted for a chair but was given the remodel excuse as to not providing one. So, a patient of the clinic diagnosed with cancer, one day out from their latest six months a chemo with peripheral neuropathy in both feet, stood for over 30 minutes. And no, I didn’t feel like explaining myself. I feel like everyone deserves a chair. And on a lighter note, if I would have said something, I would have cried and it would have been messy because I have no nose hair.

Honestly I used to love this Clinic. Until about the last six to eight months. Since then every single visit I have had has not been a positive experience. Over testing required, perhaps to bump up insurance claims and payments. Medications prescribed to me that should not have been prescribed due to pregnancy. Shocking incompetence on so many levels. Their office manager, Donna, I believe is her name is not prompt in returning a very concerned call. In fact I think she just wanted me to leave so I wouldn’t discover any other issues.
If your clinical providers don’t understand how to treat patients and review a chart to understand a patient history why bother charting at all. I have been coming here as a primary care for the last several years, however during the last few months every time I come to be treated the nurse or doctor treating me asks if I have been seen there previously. Strange to me considering they have my entire medical record in front of them on your laptop. I am so disgusted with my service here that I am transferring my records to another provider.
At this point I’m also going to file a complaint with the Medical Board of Texas because I’m concerned about patient safety due to incompetent practitioner. Also if you would like to get lab results back and any timely fashion don’t expect that you will. I was told yesterday the lab they’re using is taking up to weeks for basic results. Their mismanagement, incompetent customer service, incompetent new ER urgent care provider is disheartening and terrifying from a patient standpoint.
The last straw was tonight after being put on hold for eight minutes, and still not receiving my lab results on a potentially time-​sensitive lab. If you expect a customer service and thoughtful patient care please don’t go here!

I cannot recommend this facility. There are positives to this place (as most services can be done in-​house) but they are far outweighed by the negatives. Twice now we have made an appt just to show up and be told that our appt is at the other location — how about letting us know that when we make the appt? Dr. Keller, I am told, is an excellent doctor, but good luck getting in to see her in anything short of two to three months. We brought our daughter here for a physical and health evaluation due to some issues she was having. They referred us to their in-​house allergy clinic as her allergies were off the charts. The allergist office called to have our daughter come in for evaluation before they would set her up for allergy testing. I asked if she needed to be there (was this something we could do over the phone or through questionnaire?) as she had already missed enough school already. They insisted she needed to be there as it was imperative the doctor see her. So we went to the appt. They had me fill out paperwork, the doctor came in and talked to her for about three minutes (asking stuff we could have answered over the phone), didn’t even examine her and then charged us $ 140 for the visit. Are you f-​ing kidding me? I am not made of money. Since we were having ongoing medical issues with our child, it would be nixe to see an actual doctor, not a PA, and have consistent follow up care to get the issues resolved.

The doctor i saw had a calm demeanor and her solution definitely helped. Their lobby on the floor with the fish tank is nice looking but the tank motor is extremely loud. I could barely stand to sit in there. They need to get a quiet filter for that tank. I can’t imagine it would cost more than a few hundred dollars and then their patients could listen to the calming sound of water instead of the horrid factory motor sound they have going on in there now. It sounds like a table saw that never finishes. Don’t go in there with a headache!

I’ve been coming here since 2008. I’ve only had good things happen here. The people actually care about you. Their urgent care is superb. I currently see Katherine Lewis. She is just a wonderful lady! I’m happy to have found a place where I feel very well taken care of.

I am extremely frustrated. A few years ago I found Dr. Keller at Victory’s south location and absolutely loved her. It is so hard to find a doctor who listens and she not only heard me but found solutions that fit my needs without just drugging me up. I recently moved back to Austin and have new insurance and I crossed my fingers hoping she was covered. I called to ask and told them the specific insurance that I have and the receptionist ensured me that I was covered even after I asked her to make sure. Dr. Keller couldn’t see me for a month but it was worth the wait to me.
This morning was my appointment and as I am sitting in traffic almost there I get a call from them. My appointment is 10mins from then and she calls to tell me I am not covered! They had a month to check on this. Even if they had called this week I wouldn’t have been as mad but I’m on my way to your office! You should double check the insurance at the time people make the appointments instead of 10mins before they arrive!
Another thing is that anytime I was sick and couldn’t get a last minute appointment with Dr. Keller I would go see one of the PA or whoever they had available and it was never good. The wait is crazy long and I was barely looked at or spoken to before they would just prescribe me something. One time the doctor prescribed me an antibiotic that I am allergic to without even telling me. she just didn’t come back and nurse said they were filling my meds in the pharmacy (they didn’t even hand me a script so I could fill it where I wanted or see what she prescribed) I had to wait for it to be filled before I realized it was something I was allergic to. I was at THIS office when I found out I was allergic to it, they should have records to tell them not to give this to me!!! I had to go back up to the docs office and wait another 45mins for her to put in a script for an alternative, she still didn’t come out and consult with me she just ordered something different. Even after I asked to speak with her. That’s Negligence in my opinion.
TERRIBLE.

I had to go here for work and would not recommend anyone coming here unless absolutely necessary. Waited an hour for a simple test. The bathroom has filthy and had forgotten pee samples in it. The collection agent Destin was constantly on his phone and couldn’t be bothered to look at me when I came back for my drivers license that he forgot to give me. He flicked it in the air as I came back while keeping his eyes fixed on his phone. No apology or any words at all.

When you see a 2.5 hour movie, you expect it. When you make an appointment at a doctor’s office, you expect some urgency when the word «urgent» is on their wall.
2 and a half hour wait for a basic appointment!
The staff isn’t terrible, but the wait is beyond ridiculous.
Zero respect of my personal time. I used my vacation time to make an appointment and waited so long that it was pointless. If they could schedule their appointments accordingly, I wouldn’t have been required to miss work with the loss of hard earned vacation time. The PA was chatting about a vacation and her favorite Botox Doctor while I was wait in the next room for 15 minutes.
Why schedule me at 4 if you’re not going to see me until almost 2 hours later? Would it kill you to ask me to come in at 6? If your PA is slow as frozen molasses, and you don’t have a doctor available, schedule accordingly. I never actually saw a doctor.
Please don’t write me some bullshit explanation on why your service is shit. Instead, waste almost 3 hours or your time with me and see how you feel.
Zero respect of my time! I’d rather suffer than deal with your poor service. I think you’re missing the point of being a medical provider — seriously, think about how shitty your service is.

Coming from a health care background, this place is horrible.
I waited over an hour for my appointment, and was not comforted by the knowledge of any of the folks I saw. It felt like I was interrupting their coffee break.
When I called back to mention I was still still in pain and swollen and it hurts to walk, the nurse told me the doctor I saw didn’t work on Wednesdays, and I’d have to wait a couple days. I waited… and waited. They never called. I also never got a call back regarding my full panel of blood tests. Ever. It’s been months. I don’t know how this place is still in business.

Ok, I made my appt last week, and this is just a normal check up… I usually went to the location off Bee Caves but my primary Dr. was all booked up. So I had to go to this dreaded location. I’ve never had to wait over an HOUR for a check up. Maximum wait time at the Westlake location was 15 mins and that was rare. I must be lost because this is not a doctor’s office, it’s where the interns and your receptionists flirt unashamedly in the waiting area.
That makes sound like an old lady saying that, which I’m not, but seriously?! I know they must be having a hell of a caffeine high from the Java café downstairs but please ladies, have some dignity; you’re embarrassing yourselves.
So it’s now been an hour and 20 minutes. I’ve asked about when the doctor was ready since my appt time was 1:15pm and the excuses of «we’re running behind», «she’s just getting her gloves on now», «I don’t know, I’m sorry» are just rolling in, I’ve been pleasant and understanding but I have errands to do like everyone else. I had my day planned out and it’s on back log thanks to this. I’ve been patient enough and I’m out.
If I could give zero stars I would. I’m going to stick with my regular Dr’s office than this zoo.

I recently had to change insurance and in doing so had to find a new primary care doctor. I hoped this would be it but I can’t handle this wait.
I was finally put in a room at 2:44 for my 2:15 appointment. It’s now 3pm and I have yet to see the doctor.
The doctor is the saving grace here. Dr Hanley is awesome. I’ll definitely try again because of her.

I’m updating this review mainly because of my experiences with the urgent care and administrative difficulties I’ve had since my last review.
The five stars in my previous review remain 5 stars for Dr. Pothuluri and her nurse Mick. Also for Roy Mullins, and PT staff! They are all wonderful and amazing.
They are going through alot of changes and seem to be adding new employees to their administrative staff. While they worked out the kinks, it was difficult to get messages to the nurse as all messages are taken by the admin staff answering the phones. I’ve had a few messages not get back to the nurses/​doctor.

Scheduled for an annual checkup. Pre-​filled out my forms online and got an email confirmation stating so. Showed up to appointment on time, staff there said they lost my forms and asked me to fill it out manually again. After filling it out manually still had to wait another 45 minutes to see the nurse practitioner.
Before seeing the nurse practitioner another nurse/​resident came and took my vitals blood pressure etc, then they handed me an ipad and asked me to answer the questions. The questions turned out to me the same questions that were asked in the form I filled out for depression screening. Regular questions that doctors would ask you during a normal checkup. Do you feel tired all the time? Do you feel sad a lot? Do you feel suicidal? I asked the nurse if it was required and what it was for since I already answered the questions on the form. The nurse laughed gave me a shrug and told me to just answer the questions truthfully.
I received a bill from my insurance claiming that test with the ipad was a «mental health screening and assessment tool» that wasn’t considered preventive care and thus not covered and I had to pay out of pocket. $ 60 to answer questions on an ipad you already answered on forms and are routinely asked by the doctor in person in a few seconds. I disputed the charge and called my health insurance. An agent answered and said she would call them up to clarify the situation, the person who answered the phone said that they would forward them to the person who are responsible with these claims. She was then hung up on and forwarded to a voicemail. I later also found out that I was tested for diabetes and was charged for it too even though I am a fit early 20’s male, and I only said my grandmother had diabetes on the form.
Throughout the whole process, before (forms), during (taking vitals) and after (marketing phone call). They constantly tried to push me to use their other services such as wrinkle removals, athletic rehabilitation, spa treatments, allergy treatments, chiropractic treatments, weight loss treatment.
They seem to be highly unethical, and just try to milk as much money out of their patients as possible, especially if they have insurance then they can just run whatever tests they want. Even after voicing my complaints and said I’ll never visit this practice again, the person who called me apologized for my poor experience with them and asked me if I’m sure I don’t want an allergy or weight loss treatment.

In the Spring, I visited the center in Westlake for the first time, experiencing symptoms of dizziness and numbness in the fingers. The nurse practitioner ordered an MRI for me, citing that the symptoms could be related to neurological issues, including multiple sclerosis (scary, huh?). I waited more than a week for the MRI referral and had to follow up with the NP twice. I finally had the MRI done in early July. Now, $ 900, two months, and four voicemails later, I still have not received a call from my doctor at Victory Medical with my results. (In the meantime, I had the imaging center CC: my chiropractor on the results and he called me within 30 minutes of leaving the MRI with his findings.) Let’s hope I don’t have MS or some other serious issue, because Victory Medical certainly isn’t helping me get the care I need.

My wife, age 62, had an unknown rash which turned out to be shingles. Quite painful. No appointment available for 5 days, but we were told a 30 minute wait if we came right in. After waiting one hour and 10 minutes, my wife was called back. In the exam room, they set her on the edge of an exam table, meaning no back support and no foot support, and left her there for 45 minutes, saying they would «be right back.» To leave a 62 year old woman, who is already in pain, in such an uncomfortable position for so long shows unprofessional indifference. After more than 2 hours, we finally left with a prescription. On filling the prescription, the pharmacist said this was the wrong dosage (she verified this by looking it up), but when we tried to call back, we couldn’t get through to a doctor. We have since changed our Primary Care Provider.
On the positive side, everyone was very friendly.

This review is for Dr. Pekkar and his awesome staff of lovely assistants. From his front desk to nurses to techs, everyone has been great each and every time I visit.
He listens to what I’m concerned about when I’m in the office, even to the point of discussing the half life of different VERSIONS of medications and theorizing with me on whether smelling the grapefruit juice could possible effect the metabolizing of a medication the same way that drinking it would. (I’m slightly exaggerating about the grapefruit juice here.)
Which leads me to the next point — there are occasions where I am in his office, in acute pain, and still manage to have a somewhat dare I say… enjoyable (?) time. This MD has a sense of humor, which most thoroughly appreciate. He also happens to be smart as well as humble (A key trait for a doc. I like doctors who readily admit they need more info.)
Added bonuses — he calls you back, his staff calls you back, his office sends you copies of lab results and… he remembers who you are when you see him again. If you need a doc — Doctor Pekkar is the guy you want helping you out.

The staff here is nice but I’m sure it gets mixed reviews because people get different experiences when they come here.
For me, the nurse practitioner was friendly, engaging and made my annual physical not awkward. He was very insightful on the questions I had.
The only negative thing was the wait. I got here at 9:15 for my 9:30 appointment but I wasn’t called in until about 9:50 or so.
If you get your blood work done, the doctor or np will direct you to go to the second floor.

RUN AWAY FAST. DO NOT MAKE APPOINTMENT HERE.
I honestly wish I could give this place zero stars.
I recently moved to Austin and was looking to establish primary care. I’m not sure where I found this place (clearly I did not consult Unilocal first).
I wanted to be seen quickly so I agreed to see a nurse practitioner. I hadn’t seen one since a college clinic, I was definitely spoiled by always being able to see a MD back in Chicago.
Anyway. I filled out all of my paperwork ahead of time, arrived 15 minutes early for a 4PM Monday appointment. The receptionist was talking to me and two other patients at once (all the while joking around with the other receptionist, and while handling personal information, my paperwork HELLO HIPPAA or whatever its called!!). She forgot to do something then called me back over, rudely, still talking to another customer.
The waiting room was an absolute zoo. It was some sort of makeshift hallway between some crappy coffee shop and the parking lot. There were a lot of unsavory people trampling through, having very loud conversation, and trying to talk over how loud the tv was.
4:35 rolls around. I demand update on my already 50 minute wait. «Well I will have to go back there and ask your nurse how long» me: «ok, run along then!» She returns with the information «Maybe another 15 – 30 minutes?» Nope. F**k this place. I got my $ 30 copay back, did not pass go, did not reschedule, and will never ever return to this third world crap chute.

Yikes is about all I can say about this place. I can usually find the good in most experiences, but this was just bad. If you’re looking for a primary care physician, go somewhere else.
I had a scheduled physical and was seen about 30 minutes late (which doesn’t seem all that bad compared to some of the other things I’m reading. however, I did have an appointment schedule and wasn’t just visiting the walk-​in clinic). The reception area was a zoo. there were 8 – 10 people in there at all times and the receptionists all seemed overwhelmed. all of the patients seemed unhappy and l overheard many people talking about how long they had been waiting.
The office staff couldn’t get a hold of my insurance carrier since it was Veteran’s Day so I ended up having to pay out of pocket up-​front for the visit and will have to submit my receipts to my carrier. not a big deal, but not exactly what I should have to be worrying about — especially since I called 4 days prior to the visit to give them my insurance information so I could avoid this kind of thing.
Once I finally saw a doctor, she didn’t ask me a single question about myself. or my health history. Literally, not one. I had a handful of questions for her so I did the majority of the talking. and she didn’t provide any answers. more «hmmms» than anything.
When my visit was finally done, I received my prescriptions and checked-​out. Once I got into my car, I realized one of my prescriptions was missing from the batch and the other one was completely the wrong dosage so I went back inside. I then waited 45 MINUTES for the doctor to revise the scripts. Not sure how it could have taken so long to adjust in the system and hit print.
Needless to say, I will not be returning. I would highly recommend finding another office if you’re looking for a PCP or a doctor that cares about your health.
