US Post Office

Honestly people I dont know why you all complain! Its the post office, what do u expect? There is always going to be a long slow moving line and its usually packed. I understand it can be an inconvenience, but do you need some complimentary drinks and the red carpet rolled out to make you happy? Be patient an clear your schedule instead of ranting and raving on Unilocal!
FYI: The employees cant steal your mail, its a FEDERAL offense! If they do they will be in deep trouble

I’ve held off writing this review because, hey, everyone in government institutions could use a second chance. But I’m done, completely fed up. This office is huge, and has a big area that it services. So, of course, on a Saturday at 10, it’s standard policy to have TWO employees tending to 15 patrons at a time (I’m in line and just counted). Oh, I should mention that they typically ignore the pick ups lines, so when they refuse to deliver your mail, expect to wait at least 30 minutes (I’ve been timing)
This post office has also stolen our mail, on several occasions. When we first moved in, our mailbox got full quickly, and the postal delivery worker left us a scribbled sticky note that said our mail was back at the office, but, when we waited at the post office, we were told that they don’t use sticky notes and our mail wasn’t in the facility. Gifts, bills, mortgage information – all GONE. And were they apologetic, at the very least? NO!
The reason I’m in line today is because, once again, they’ve stolen my mail. This time at least I got an official post card saying that my mail was back at the facility bc of 10 days of leaving the mail in the box. But here’s WHY my mailbox gets overflown: they flat out REFUSE to quit sending mail to previous tenants, DESPITE us consistently writing «does not live here please stop delivering this persons’ mail here». So, apparently, they’ll take your own mail right from under your feet, but God forbid you try to stop delivery on something that clogs up your own mail delivery! No, that would be too easy, Bluebonnet Post Office, and, being a a governmental institution, you’re going to make our lives as infuriatingly difficult as possible. If I could only Fed/​Ex /​UPS, know that I would.
Update: I just got chastised by the guy at the counter bc I didn’t put my address on the note YOU left ME. Dude, it ain’t my fault y’all can’t get yo act together – don’t get snippy with me bc of something I can’t control. Rude!

I came here for the first time and must have gotten lucky, coming in on Wednesday at 4pm, because there was only 3 people ahead of me. THAT said, I was expecting some mail that didn’t get delivered to my apt, and was told it wasn’t there either. A credit card to be specific.
NOW I’m worried that they may have gotten ahold of it just by seeing all the reviews of horrible employees. That, or they didn’t look hard enough.
Sad that this is my local post office. Besides the people working there did not greet or smile at ALL. Oh well.

I just had the WORST experience at this post office and I will NEVER be going back to it for any reason. I wait in line and finally make it up to the counter. I have an iPhone in the box that I need to ship to an APO in England. 45 minutes and 3 completed forms later… and after being told the total was $ 19.95, no $ 66 but why does it say India, no looks like $ 19.95, no that can’t be right, it’s going to be $ 44.95… and being asked to leave the line at least 4 times to look for a box that did not exist at that post office… AND having to stop the man to was «helping» me from sticking the iPhone in a flimsy paper envelope after being told multiple times that this needs to ship in a box WITH padding… I’m finally told that the post office is out of the box I need and I’ll have to go elsewhere. The man who helped me had NO idea what he was doing and the others around were not being very helpful. Stay away from this post office! Drive out of your way to use another one!

So this morning I went and sent off a letter and when I departed, I left my phone at the counter. By the time I realized my mistake they had been closed for a couple of hours. But I took a chance and went back there and there were a couple of people up there that took the time to look for my phone and they found it. Now they could have been rude about it and tell me to come back on Monday when they were open but they took the time to find my phone and give it back to me. I can’t thank them enough.

Yep, this place is rather grim.

Ugghh I had to come back week after week to get my keys for my mail box. Apparently they had to be made by an outsourced company and it took 3 weeks.
Whatever happened to mail being delivered to your house not to some mail drop around the corner? When did that change?
I got to say the ladies here are very nice as I’ve gotten to see some characters coming in there. They always dealt with everyone with courtesy and a friendly attitude

The worst location ever. I know many post offices have bad reps but this one tops it for me. The workers were so unfriendly and sluggish. It was like they were competing to see who could keep you there the longest. I am not sure why we live across the highway from the Duval and 183 post office yet have to drive to this one in the first place but such is life. Anyways. this location is sincerely the worst post office I have ever seen in the state of Texas.

Check the open lockers for your packages because that’s where I find mine and all others too.
Not sure what is going on here but also had important Gov letters being returned to the sender.

Been here two days in a row trying to get medium flat rate boxes. I don’t know why I even bother. Once again I have to make multiple stops to find the things the should carry. Buying boxed from Amazon and using UPS seems like the way to go.

Clerks are rude and have no respect for anyone. They move at a turtles pace and don’t provide any good level of service for any request. You would expect customer facing roles to at least smile. These folks all clearly hate their jobs.

Impolite to close your business early, particularly when your livelihood exists solely because of tax dollars. This type of inconvenience to customers is inexcusable.

If I could give ZERO or NEGATIVE I would. We had our mail held while our school was on break. It has been two weeks now and they still can’t find it. They know they have two tubs full somewhere, but NO ONE has had time to do their job lately. You can just feel the apathy and unhappiness when you walk in this place. Wish I could skip it but I can’t. You will notice they have the worst rating of all the Austin POs. it shows.

Do not go here for a passport.
Yesterday, I went to mail a package in the afternoon (service was exceptionally gruff and rude). Asked to file for my passport and was told «They only do that between 8:30 and 9AM on weekdays.» I confirmed, «Ok, so they start processing them at 8:30?» and was told «yes».
Today, I show up at 8:28 and join some other folks in the hall with passport paperwork. The gate opens (late) at 8:32. I walk in and ask for a passport, and was told «Line up in the hall. Someone comes out there.» 20 minutes later, I go back in and ask when someone is coming out and was told «9:30.» I say, «Really? 9:30? I was told yesterday it was 8:30, which is why I and other folks have been here since then.» She said, «No, 9:30.» I said, «I really wish you had told me that when we talked 20 minutes ago.» I told the rest of the folks in line (at least 10 people by now) and left because I had to get to work.
TLDR: long lines, rude service, complete lack of expectations or direction. Avoid at all costs!

Their automated machine has been out of receipt paper for the last few weeks. A note of warning would be nice, because you won’t know it’s out until after you’ve already paid. Today, after paying $ 2.50 for my package at the automate machine, no receipt was available, and I looked down at my stamp to see it marked $.45. So I’ve got this incorrectly labeled package, no receipt and I’m out $ 2.50. I get in line to ask the folks up at the counter, and they can’t help me without a receipt. I showed them a screen grab from my bank account, but they said they’d need to get a manager. I’m told to go out into the other waiting area, for someone to come out of a door. I wait about 5 minutes and no one comes — and there’s already a group of people waiting there.
I walked off — it’s only $ 2.50, but I won’t be going back to this place ever again. Even though it’s ½ mile from my place. Ugh.

1 — The number of mail carriers my person threw under the bus for allegedly failing to «…put the package where it’s supposed to be, since I can’t find it»

I guess since I can’t give zero stars for today’s effort, I’ll give one star for «proximity to Snow Monster»…

Okay, the bar isn’t EVER set very high when you walk in a Post Office, or any other government agency. However, there are basic standards of courtesy and service that one would expect from any business. For instance, treating customers like people, instead of cattle waiting to be processed at a feed yard.
Heaven help you if you want to get a passport made/​renewed. Once you have stood in the postal service line, you are told to «sign the clipboard» and leave the lobby. You are then hereby BANISHED to the far hallway, behind the «black rope» to wait for the SINGLE employee that handles passports to come and call you. Then, once your name gets called, you go right back to the postal counter with everyone else. Like the DPS office, if you are missing a single form of identifying paperwork (along with blood sample, keys to you car, deed to your house, and the mineral rights to any property you may own), you will be sent away without a care and they will move on to the next person waiting the siberian wasteland of the hallway. It’s almost like the Soup guy in Seinfeld… «NO SOUP FOR YOU!»
I know that the postal service is not the most glamorous job in the world… but like any government job, the pay and benefits can’t be that bad. Cheer up, treat people like… well, people… and smile once in a while. Maybe people will not dread going to the post office so much!

I had a really good experience at this post office not only was there no line when I got there there was plenty of parking and it was the middle of the day and the person who helped me was really nice and friendly and he did make one mistake when he was ringing me up and it was actually kind of funny because he rung me up at like $ 34,000 for some stamps and then he had to void the transaction but other than that I had no problems.

Talk about some lazy sumbitches.
There were 4 people «working» at the counter but only 1 was helping people with pickups. I waited 47 minutes to pick up my mail — freaking ridiculous. Every employee was shuffling back and forth. No hustle. No pride. It’s no wonder the Post Office is having issues with these winners working there.

People have been trained to hate the post office… They just have. «Federal employees this and that…» People who go in hating the post office make it suck more.
The other morning I went to this location to pick up mail. A group of 4 morons were in complaining to the manager that they were told by a non usps person that they could get their passports done before 930am. They were mad at the manager because they listened to someone who didn’t work there and came early. What’s he going to do? Change the times because you’re misinformed by your own stupidity? No.
Then to make matters worse, another loser in line picks a fight with the manager on behalf of that same group after they left… For no reason. He claimed that he was standing up for everyone… which when translated means he has a miserable life and job and wants to vent at the post office.
This is what the staff here had to deal with in the first 10 minutes after opening.
America, we are spoiled. Think about this: millions of physical items are shipped door to door around the world every single day… I can mail something from Texas and it will mot likely arrive in California or Alaska in a few days… That’s still remarkable. Sure, packages get messed up or lost occasionally, but so what? The margin of error is so low in comparison to what the usps actually accomplishes… and they accomplish it while dealing with idiots like the ones there the day I was there… all day, week, and year long.
It’s quite an impressive system we’ve taken for granted isn’t it?
