I took the hubby in to see Dr. Phillips. Don’t get me wrong, it was wicked funny when my husband peed himself randomly, but I felt like it was worth having a doctor take a peek (and squeeze). Making the appointment was a breeze, HGTV was playing in the waiting room, and the staff was awesome. The nurse actually told my husband that in their practice they would treat his urethra like it was their urethra. That’s pretty much the greatest thing a patient can hear in a urologists office. Dr. Phillips was speedy, professional, and clear. He handled my husband’s junk and my back-​of-​the-​room cackling like a real professional. My husband had the exact same experience as Michael H. They will not accept you, even as a cash patient, if you have Obamacare. Office staff allowed him to make an appointment, then called back and said they weren’t accepting patients with Obamacare (even if you pay cash).
I find it absolutely bizarre and unethical for a doctors office to use politics as a way to decide who they treat. Seems like we dodged a bullet by getting rejected by this questionable practice.

Transcript from my recent call to set up an appointment:
UA — «Urology Austin»
Me — «Good morning, I’d like to schedule an appointment, my primary doctor referred me to Dr Northway»
UA — «Do you have insurance through an employer?»
Me — «I’m self employed, and I have good insurance, can I give you that information?»
UA — «Is it that Obama thing? We’re not accepting any new patients.»
Line went dead, never had the chance to say yes or no to the Obama remark.
Doesn’t matter how good a doctor is/isn’t, that type of front office attitude is inexcusable.

I had nothing but a great experience here with Doctor M. Floyd. Getting examined front and back is a little embarrassing. Doctor Floyds professional demeanor was very helpful at putting me at ease. He didn’t seemd rushed and answered all my questions. He even recommended my condition could also be related to my back and suggested I see an orthopedic. I did and currently have an MRI scheduled. I also found the front desk staff to be okay and friendly. This will be my place to go to when I need them. Thanks Dr. Floyd and your assistant…

Worst customer service on the front end. Thanks for making it easy to not even schedule with your office. Who has ever heard of an office not taking ANY insurance other than employer based insurance or as she called it Obamacare plans.

After seeing some really scary reviews for doctors performing vasectomies, my gynecologist recommended Dr Northway from personal experience. We had been filled with anxiety about having his vasectomy done in Austin until this recommendation. My husband went in for a consultation and scheduled his outpatient surgery. I went with him that morning and met Dr Northway. He was excellent and everything went well. There were no distractions to the doctor in the surgery room. My husband likes his doctor and would recommend him. We haven’t had any issues with scheduling or waiting very long past our appointment time. He’s had to call in several times and I’ve gone in to drop something off or pick something up several times and we haven’t run in to any issues. The front desk staff has been helpful and nice each time. Overall, this has been a pleasant experience given the circumstance.

I had a few hiccups with Urology Austin as a new patient, but they are fixed now. I liked Dr. Floy’s professionalism and I plan to see him again.

My husband had an outpatient procedure done by one of the Urology Austin doctors. Doctor showed up so late that even the staff of the day surgery were asking where he was. Doctor came in and talked to me after the procedure but NEVER spoke to my husband or the nurse who was in charge of his care! I had to fill the nurse in on what the doc said. The nurse had major problems controlling my husband’s pain and tried calling the doctor’s office and his cell phone. Waited a very long time for a call back — the nursing staff was getting anxious. The pain was bad enough that the nursing staff told my husband he might want to check into the hospitall next door but to do so he’d have to be transferred by ambulance ($$$$) and the doctor who did his procedure would have to admit him. Since they couldn’t get a call back, that was futile. Finally, the doctor called back and said if my husband needed further care, he’d have to go to an ER and they would catherize him but this doctor would NOT admit him.
I have NEVER seen such blatant disregard by a medical doctor!!!

I just left Urology Austin for the last time. Actually, I walked out of the waiting room in disgust. I have been a patient of Dr. Pickett for over fifteen years, and I have had enough.
I am tired of the long waits I have been forced to endure. I don’t think this office understands the concept of time. I have NEVER waited less than 45 minutes to be taken back to the next waiting room, where I usually spend another 30 to 45 minutes waiting for the doctor. I cannot understand why I have to spend two hours of my day for a five minute consultation with the doctor.
I’m tired of being treated with such disrespect. I am the customer after all. I think it is unreasonable to treat customers this way, and without even the smallest apology or acknowledgment of their wrongdoing.
And I’m not basing this review or opinion on a single event. I have tried early morning appointments (thinking there is no way the doctor can be behind at the start of the day) and afternoon appointments. There is no difference in the wait time. Once, I had the first appointment of the day and was asked to reschedule (after waiting an hour) because the doctor was not in the office yet! Really!!! If he can’t get to the office, even if it is because he is doing hospital rounds, then why schedule appointments for that early in the morning?!
So, I’m off to find a new urologist, without fear or worry. After all, I can’t possibly be MORE disappointed in my next doctor!

Urology Austin is the worst medical practice i have ever been involved with. I think they are shady in their billing practices as they told me my appointment was not covered by my insurance and charged me $ 155 for a 5 minute consultation with the doc. After I paid them they collected $ 350 from my insurance for the same appointment. I called them out on it and they «have begun the refund process. It has been over a month and they just told me it could be another 4 weeks for my check to arrive in the mail. I live about 5 minutes from their office!
I went in for a vasectomy consultation. The receptionist said she talked to my insurance company and verified it was covered before my appt. It was not until after the appt when she told me NOTHING was covered and i had to pay for the consultation PLUS $ 1050 for the vasectomy. It was around $ 750 when I asked the receptionist over the phone when i made my appt. During the consultation the doc said it was around $ 800 if you dont have insurance, and then i was hit with the real price of $ 1050 PLUS the $ 155 consultation fee (No, they would not roll the consult fee into the price of the vasectomy like EVERYONE ELSE DOES.).
Stay away!

I had my vasectomy done by Dr. David Phillips here last year… it was only 750 dollars WITHOUT health insurance!!! It was the best 750 dollars Ive EVER spent… he was friendly, fast, informative, and caring… the procedure was COMPLETELY PAINLESS, and healed without ANY complications or discomfort… and was found a complete success when I had my follow up lab-​test. I HAVE noticed a few VERY SIGNIFICANT side effects from my surgery though which he did not warn me about… they are… I have a tendency to sleep in, take vacations, and enjoy peace and quiet around my home… wow Dr. Phillips, THANK YOU for making sure I don’t have kids!!!
