Learn about the intriguing world of honey bees in a way that few get to experience: through the hands-​on exploration of an active, living beehive! Your tour, led by a professional beekeeper, will include suiting up in protective gear, lighting a bee smoker, and getting up close with more than 100,000 bees. Each tour is capped at 8 people, providing you an intimate experience of this fascinating species. Tour includes protective gear to wear during the tour, a commemorative photo, a taste of honey straight from the hive, and a special gift to help you support our local honeybee population!

Founder and tour guide Tara Chapman unexpectedly fell in love with beekeeping three years ago, and left her job with the federal government in early 2015 to pursue her dream of introducing others to the world of organic, all-​natural beekeeping. Tara is a native Texan, born and raised in the small West Texas town of Smyer. She moved to the East Coast for college in 1999. After 13 years, she raced back to Texas to satisfy a longing for Texas BBQ, breakfast tacos, and mild winters. Tara’s fascination with bees began with an 8^th grade science unit on the workings of a colony. Tara’s favorite way to eat honey is on top of a banana with a bit of cinnamon and almond butter!
