Rogue Expeditions is a unique Austin-​based adventure travel company that creates run-​centric vacations around the world. Our itineraries are designed to combine unique, authentic travel experiences with organized, supported daily runs in unforgettable places, and to accommodate ALL levels.

History

Established in 2012.

In March 2012, Allison Macsas & Gabe Steger took a personal vacation to Morocco, where a chance meeting with a local guide and a campfire discussion in the Sahara sparked an idea: let’s bring people here to experience Morocco, and to run in the coolest spots along the way!

The idea took shape, and they returned one year later with 20 intrepid Austin runners anxious for adventure and a run-​centric travel experience. The trip was a huge success, and it was clear that we had filled a void in the racing-​dominated running world.

Utilizing Allison’s running background — she is a professional marathoner & coach with plenty of event production experience — and Gabe’s outdoor trip guiding background, the business has grown and thrived. Our current itineraries include Morocco, Kenya, Patagonia, Tahoe & Bend with several new destinations in development.

Business Owner

Allison is a traveling runner.

Running began in childhood, led to a collegiate career, two Olympic Marathon Trials qualifiers, a bit of dabbling in the ultra world and a career in the industry, coaching and otherwise. Traveling began later in life, but wanderlust hit hard and she has since explored much of North, Central & South America, Europe, Southeast Asia & Africa.

Gabe is an adventurer.

It began in childhood, exploring wild caves and camping with his dad, and later evolved into rock climbing, whitewater kayaking and trip guiding. These activities and a love of travel have also led him throughout North, Central & South America, Europe, Southeast Asia & Africa.

Allison and Gabe’s combined backgrounds and skill sets are the very foundation of Rogue Expeditions, and the ability to share their love of getting out and actively exploring the world is a dream come true.
