My first time so of course had no idea what to get. Did settle on the trailer Park with additions. the meat was delicious, but I’ve got to work on what I put on it. And I Will!!! This is basically a fast food dining so it’s a little loud and not the best of seating, but I’m going back.

We came here to try the Fried Avocado taco. It was just meh. However, we also happened to try the Carnitas, which was to die for! Really, though, the rest of the food was take it or leave it. Definitely better tacos than anything you can get on the East Coast(where I’m from), but not a gold mine in Texas where Mexican food is a competitive business! I would come here again but wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

I love tacos and Torchy’s has the best. Their Guacamole and avocado sauce are so delicious and their chips the best kind of crispy. I always look forward to visiting them at this location.

Their carne asada is great and prices are good too I wish their rice didn’t have vegetables in it though

Took 45 minutes to get 3 tacos. Wow. You have to ask for any sauces. And the music was loud relentless pop techno. What a disappointment. With so many taco joints in Austin why would you eat here?

Had the queso dip and two items off of their secret menu: the Ace of Spades and the Matador. Both were delicious! It seems, though, that the tacos in the secret menu are significantly bigger than the regular tacos(if you order two regular tacos, they fit them both in one tray, but secret menu tacos come in their own tray). For this reason, I didn’t get to finish eating the Ace of Spades, which I liked best. So I suggest that if you’re ordering off of the secret menu, one taco is enough to get full. If you’re INCREDIBLY hungry or haven’t eaten in days, then you might be able to finish two or more secret menu tacos.

You really can’t go wrong here if you’re hungry and want delicious tacos in a casual setting at a good value. I LOVE the green chile pork on corn with a lime. They have indoor & outdoor seating, and the staff here is really friendly. I recommend calling ahead if you’re in a hurry so you can swoop in to pick it up even if you’re eating in because the line(while it moves pretty fast) can get long.

Why does it consistently take so long to make tacos here? The wait times are excruciatingly slow.

Meh. I suppose for a chain these were okay, but given that it’s a chain local to Austin, supposedly home of the best breakfast tacos, this was a pretty lame version. I ordered migas and queso — the queso was the real star, and I have nothing bad to say about that. The migas were very disappointing though, served cold so the cheese didn’t melt. The tortillas weren’t that impressive either.

Torchy’s is Torchy’s. If you are looking for gringo tacos, this is the place. I typically get the fried chicken one and make it trashy(heart attack in a tortilla!). I will say compared to some taco places, they actually don’t overcook their chicken(something I greatly appreciate). They also have natural sodas, which is always appreciated. Of course, certain hours it is best to avoid this place as the lines can be crazy. Don’t come here expecting true flavors, these are novelty tacos. Tasty and a good spot for lunch, but you know Austin has better tacos.
If you like spicy, go for the jerk chicken! And always use the special sauces they give you. Adds tons of flavor and rounds out the tacos.

I give this place 4 Stars because the food was tasty. It definitely was not a typical taco joint. I would say it was more gourmet so if you want Mexican food this will be a disappointment. The staff were friendly and patient with this non Austin person. Place was very clean and well lit. Much better lit than the neighborhood which was not the best. At least it didn’t look so good in the dark. We also ordered the quest dip which was good. I had the Republican taco which had a sausage which was interesting BUT good. I am not in a rush to return but then again there is so much more to try here in Austin.

An Austin staple that I haven’t had a chance to visit until now — and boy was I missing out! I knew to order the queso(and it was awesome!!) and tried two tacos — shrimp and fried avocado. I was so full but I cleared every bit of my plate. I could just go there and eat queso all day, but if you want more than cheese I don’t think there’s a bad taco on the menu.

I’m surprised this is my first check in here as I have been here at least 10 times. I guess I really need to work on my Unilocaling. How can you say anything bad about this austin original. You get great service. The people are in most part friendly. I’ve seen a couple not so friendly but at least I never had the displeasure of dealing with them. They have a monthly taco special that’s not on the menu and their chips and guacamole is out of the world great and I haven’t found a taco that I didn’t like. Just a word of caution. Some of the tacos are really hot so if it says spicy it is.

I freakin love this place! I have been a huge fan of torchys for a few years now. They have amazing green chili queso and an awesome variety of tacos. I must say my favs are green chili pork and the trailer park! They also have a new taco on special which is always a unique option. I would definitely recommend checking this place out. If you haven’t already you are missing out!

Came here after a day on lake Travis on our way back to Austin. I didn’t really know what to expect other than my friends recommending the place. With limited expectations I was greeted by some Awesome tacos. First off, the Tacos are huge. 2 tacos is more than enough to fill you up. I ordered 3 and a Con Queso, don’t judge. The breakfast burrito with egg, bacon, and cheese was solid. It was a bit dry, but any kind of sauce will take care of that. The beef fajitas were also really good. A good portion of well seasoned beef! Yum. The standout for me was the baja shrimp. Nice crispy shrimp on a corn tortilla with red onions and cilantro! So I wouldn’t say Torchy’s are the best tacos i’ve ever had, but they are above average, and for the portions you get, it is a great deal!!! OH and the Green Chili Queso was amazing!!! That spicy cheesy goodness solidifies any meal!

A must visit! Highly recommended by many locals. Out of all the food places that I ate at during my visit in Austin, Torchy’s Tacos was my favorite! Breakfast tacos is known and popular to eat in Texas. Just how they’re known for bbq food. Most of the tacos range from $ 2.50-$ 4.75(Similar size with Chipotle’s tacos). My party and I mainly ordered off of the Breakfast Tacos menu. This can be found on the left side of the menu. You can also build your own tacos for $ 2.25. Served with your choice of fresh tortilla and choice of sauce. The best corn tortilla ever!!! This is extremely affordable with generous portions and if you’re really hungry I suggest ordering two tacos. One was good for me. Popular Tacos: Fried Avocado Dirty Sanchez The Democrat

Torchy’s makes a good taco! If you come here for breakfast there is no taco that you can go wrong with. If you come here for lunch or dinner, be ready for a new type of taco experience. There are some killer combos here, but my #1 favorite here is the Trailer Park Trashy. Its corn tortilla, fried chicken, letuce, pico, cheese, and queso. See I have a magic power at home, at least according to my wife, to make a taco out of anything. Heck last night I made some green bean tacos, because I thought the green beans needed a little something extra. But back to this place. I would say after your first few visits, go take a look at the secret menu online. There is 1 on there that is better than the rest. Its the biggest, meanest, most nasty looking beast of a taco, you would swear it should have its own category. The Matador. eat is and grow hair on your chest, or weep with joy, either way you will be in love with this taco.

Torchy’s vs. Tacodeli results! So in my Tacodeli review, I wrote that they have the best overall experience, but tacodeli edges out a win. Why? The customized Independent this specific location made for me. My mouth just waters thinking about it. So the Independent is usually friend portobello mushrooms, black beans, corn, carrots, cilantro, and avocado. This is what they did. Take out the ancho chili and replace with diable hot sauce(the best!). Remove cheese. Grill the mushroom instead of fry(because the batter contains milk/egg). Add a layer of deep fried corn tortilla on top of the flour.(Because that’s what they do on the secret menu items and I want to be a part of it too. Boom. The most amazing taco I’ve ever put in my mouth. It is soo good that I think I dreamed about it before getting it again the next day, and right before I went to the airport. Extra thank you to the worker who made the grilled mushroom advice(Eric? I think.) He is vegetarian and made some great recommendations, and even recognized me when I came back over the next few time! Every location is hit or miss. Some locations are too packed, others have no good places to sit and eat. Others have such rude employees you wish you never had to exchange any word with them at all. However, Torchy’s lives by it’s motto of «Damn Good Tacos» and I’m counting down the days when I go back to Texas and get my hands on another Independent! (Or at least please pull and In N Out and start opening up here in California!)
