As promised, black car and no swirls or streaks and my car was a mess when I brought it in. Highly recommend this crew, you won’t be disappointed!

I just took my Hyundai Sonata for a complete detail at this place and the result was INCREDIBLE! I got the Sell Your Car Package and it really made my car look brand new. These guys know what they are doing and I would recommend this place to anyone.

I needed a state inspection and had very little time, and a friend told me to check out Wax Shack. Quick indeed! I was in and out in less than 10 minutes, and wasn’t pressured into making any repairs aside from a single broken wiper blade. Very pleased with the service.

Some garages seem to be bigger than they really are. Pulling in one day the front bumper made contact with the wall. White wall and black car. Let’s just say it looked real bad! Well, took the now scarred car down to George at the Wax Shack to have him do his magic. Man, when I went to pick it up it didn’t even look like the same car! Was wanting to trade it in on a bigger car. Guess what? Got top dollar for it! Now the new car… it’s bigger. You can see this coming I know it. The new front bumper on the new bigger car met that same wall!!! Back to Wax Shack for some more magic. Now, the new car is NEW again! Thanks Wax Shack!

Just got back from picking up my jeep! I met with George and we decided on going with the diamond coat process. That’s what I had looked up online and what I was curious about. I am telling you it’s worth every penny. My Jeep looks amazing. I am going to be a repeat customer for a long long time. George took care of my ride and spent some good time showing me how everything came out. Outstanding persons to do business with. Thanks again George!

What a great experience I had at the Wax Shack! The last time I took my car for an interior detail, it was a birthday gift card to Genie on Burnet, and they did an okay job with cleaning, but a) used a lot of incredibly strong-​smelling chemicals that gave me a headache and took days to dissipate, b) left the seats nearly soaking wet and I had to sit on towels for two days, and c) left streaks everywhere and pools of sticky cleaner – maybe armor-​all? – in places like the cupholders, buttons, dash, etc. Not a great job, and certainly not worth the $ 150 they were paid.
The Wax Shack was a total 180, from moment one. I called on a Thursday to see if I could squeeze my car in for the weekend. First I was given the rundown of a full interior/​exterior package for $ 250 – 300. After explaining that my budget was $ 150 and I could probably just clean the exterior of my relatively-​new car myself, Shawna from Wax Shack didn’t try to haggle or upsell me, simply explained the details of a full interior detail and asked me when I’d like to schedule. They were booked up till Monday, but she put me on standby, and five minutes later happened to get an opening, so I was able to get my car in the very next day.
Dropping off and picking up were a breeze and everyone was incredibly nice and helpful. I was told upon picking up that they only take cash (I hadn’t been told this previously – so beware), but they were completely fine with letting me drive out to an ATM to get cash to pay.
The interior detail is FLAWLESS. My car looks brand new! I have two white dogs and there is not a single speck of pet hair in my black interior. Whatever cleaning products they use have a gentle, not overpowering scent, and the seats were dry, dash perfectly buffed – no pools of armor-​all here or streaks left on the glass! My driveway at home is fine red gravel and it gets EVERYWHERE, but there is seriously not one tiny grain of it anywhere in my car. I’m so impressed and happy. Best $ 150 I’ve spent in a while, and I will be back every 6 months for sure.
All told, this place is as good as it gets. Locally owned (I think I might actually have met the owner when I picked up my car), great friendly service, WONDERFUL work that is completely worth every penny. Plus you can get your car inspected next door, which is convenient.
Just remember – cash only!

Can you make a new car look better than new !!! The answer is yes ! I recently bought a 2015 Black Cadillac SRX. I took it to the Wax Shack and George and his team made it look better than new ! Excellent job and attention to detail ! I will be taking it back In 6 months to keep it looking great !

I bought a car with smoke smell and let these folks do their magic on the inside. They reduced the smell by 80% and made the inside look like a new car. (The remaining smoke smell was blown out by the solvent smell from some paint and body work that I just had done) I think I will take it back and have them do another treatment per their guaranty. I’d go back and recommend these folks.

First things first: they don’t accept credit cards. It’s easy to miss that crucial bit of information.
I took my car in for interior work after I spilled about a half a gallon of marinara sauce on my floorboard. I initially hoped I could get away with just cleaning the carpet, since I didn’t spill anything anywhere else, but they were super up-​front about letting me know that the carpet cleaning probably wouldn’t be enough. I didn’t feel like they were trying to upsell me at all; it was obvious they were speaking from knowledge and experience.
They were super accommodating, even though I’d torn the car halfway apart trying to clean it myself, and they let me go home to get my passenger seat and bring it back, even though I thought that seat didn’t have anything spilled on it.
I should also mention it was rainy as hell when all this was going on, so it took forever for everything to dry. However, they did good work and the smell didn’t come back!
I’ll definitely be back the next time I need detailing work done.

The best deal around! I had the Black Car detail and my Caddy looks brand new. I’ll definitely be back with the rest of our cars. You can’t go wrong with the great customer service and work The Wax Shack offers!

Once again the Wax Shack was just what my car needed. It’s the second time for my car and my husband and son have used them numerous times. I feel as if I have a new car again — sure looks brand new!
I grumble the night before about getting all my stuff out — but it sure makes a difference. I had forgotten what the original color was — it was so dirty.
Super convenient and very accommodating on scheduling times — we will continue to use them for all our vehicles.

As several other reviewers pointed out, owning a black car is a double-​edged sword. No color looks better when it’s clean, but no color shows dirt, scratches, dings, and other surface imperfections more than black. I had the misfortune of accidentally spilling an entire green smoothie in the passenger seat of my black S4, creating an urgent need for a full interior detail. The Wax Shack came recommended by a few coworkers, and offers a black car package and clay bar option, so I figured I’d just get the whole shebang and get the exterior done too. This place did not disappoint.
When I picked up my car, not only was the interior completely pristine (zero traces of the spill to be found), it smelled great, and the exterior was even better. I had a good amount of swirls in the paint from the previous owner, and it looks night and day from where it did before I took it in. George, the owner, walked me through the car, including what imperfections, etc. they weren’t able to get out and why. There were no surprises, since there were a few issues I knew in advance a detail wouldn’t get rid of. I was extremely impressed with their attention to detail, as well as their recollection of exactly what they did to my car.
I almost docked them a star because it’s 2015, and they inexplicably don’t accept debit or credit cards. Come on, people. In this day and age, there is literally no excuse for not accepting credit cards. Carrying cash, and even more so checks, is an inconvenience. With services like Square, small businesses can easily accept credit card payments for a very reasonable fee. I’m pretty sure 99% of customers wouldn’t care if you increased your rates by the 1.75% or so it would cost you to accept credit card payments. Seriously, get with the times.

I want to preface this review by saying that THE OWNER AND STAFF ARE SUPER NICE FOLKS!
I researched several car detailing businesses in the Austin area, but I selected The Wax Shack because their web site indicates that they provide a professional and high-​level of service. I really needed paint correction/​protection and wanted to get the best treatment available.
I picked the «Wax Shack Q-​Tip Detail» package, which includes both exterior and interior detailing. My quote for this package was $ 249 to $ 279.
The staff is really nice and easy to work with. I set up an appointment to have my car picked up, detailed, and returned to my office. Shawna told me the service would take about 5 ½ hours. Jennifer picked up my car, and she was super friendly.
About 2 hours later Jennifer called back to tell me the detail was finished, and that she was on her way back to return the car??? Curious since I was told it would take more than five hours to detail.
Upon inspecting my car I noticed several things I was not satisfied with, including, but NOT limited to: spots of wax left on the exterior, Armor All (uv protectant) droplets on my exterior windows and trim, pools of Armor All in the glove box, streaks of Armor All intermingled with dry areas (a hit and miss job) on the dash and side panels, unvacuumed dirt between the seats and in the cargo areas, and dust on the vents and gauges (clearly no Q-​Tips used). Jennifer took my car back to address those issues.
George the owner contacted me to explain that he’d had a cancelation that day, so he was able to put his whole crew on my car — resulting in the quicker turn-​around but also in «too many cooks in the kitchen.» He said his team was addressing the issues and would return the car ASAP. He even provided a gift certificate for another service in the future. AGAIN, THE OWNER AND STAFF ARE SO NICE!
Jennifer returned my car a second time. I inspected the issues noted above, paid, and was ready to move on.
Unfortunately, when I was driving home from work that evening I noticed that the interior windows were very heavily streaked. I know windows are hard to clean, but professionals should NOT have a problem with this routine task. It looked like my windows were cleaned with the same rag used to apply Armor All.
In addition to the streaked windows, my windows had not been rolled down to clean — so the top inch or so of the windows were dirty, finally my side-​mirrors had only been cleaned in the middle — leaving the edges as dirty as they were before the detail service.
I took my car back (for the third time) and talked with George about the second-​round of problems. As expected, George was personable and friendly, and the staff redid the windows and mirrors within minutes.
Overall I am satisfied with the state of my car (after the third visit). However, it should not have taken three times to get this job done right. For the money paid, my car should have been detailed correctly (and as advertised) the first time.
It was a major hassle and inconvenience to return my car — TWICE — for things that should have been addressed during the initial appointment.
I plan to use the gift certificate in a few months and I will update my review then, if warranted.

You learn something new every day. Today I learned that Hyde Park’s speedway was literally used as a speedway for racing cars back in the day.
Don’t get too carried away because this was back in the early days of the automobile and they were only going about 25 – 35 mph down that road. It was Avenue E but everyone knew it was a «speedway» so they eventually made it official and changed the name.
Wanna know how I learned that?
I took my car in to be detailed at Wax Shack and George, the owner, gave me a ride to my house while they worked on it. During the ride I got a little lesson in Austin’s history from someone who has lived it. Awesome!
Anyway, back to the detail job. I have a 335i hardtop convertible and it’s like brand new since I picked it up.
Great job and reasonable prices along with stories of old school Austin on the way home. Excellent. Buy local and support George and his team please.
Maybe ask for a ride home and learn something new about this amazing city we call home.

Definitely the worst detail service. I will admit the car was in bad shape, but they had to go back and re-​do some spots after I got there and noticed them. After taking it home and checking it out. They missed SO MANY spots and I paid $ 300! They definitely didn’t use a q-​tip on anything in this car! Oh and they don’t accept credit cards. It’s 2015. EVERYONE should accept cards!

My husband and I just had a great experience with The Wax Shack. I had an unidentified liquid spill in my car and sit for a week undriven. We thought an animal had literally crawled in my engine and died… we called George at The Wax Shack and he was able to get us in promptly and got the car cleaned and smelling fresh the next day. He was courteous and hard working, and we are so appreciative of the prompt last minute service.
I will be taking my car to George with any future detailing needs.
Side note: they are cash or check only, so be prepared for that when you pick up your vehicle.

We have a brand new car and we are looking for a professional detail shop. All I could find is mobile detailing, which to me is nothing more than me waxing my own car in my driveway. My experience with professional retailers is they have a controlled environment and they take 1 – 2 days to DETAIL, your vehicle. Here in Austin, I’ve only found express wax jobs so far.
We read the website and reviews for the Wax Shack and were very excited that finally we found a professional detail shop, not an express wax. Well, we were very wrong. I called and George said he had an indoor facility to wax the cars in. Wrong, just an aluminum shed and cover. We took a chance anyway. I told Ryan, George’s son we are in no rush, too please take their time. Wrong, they were done in less than three hours on a Toyota 4Runner.
We go to pick up the vehicle and there is still bug marks on the grill and windshield. The door jams still had running water marks in them. There were smudges on the windows and in several spots around the vehicle and on the bright work on the inside of the doors. The bright work on the 4Runner on the lift gate still had wax in between the letters, fully nullifying, their website motto of the Q-​Tip detail. The interior was just wiped down and when I got home, I checked the carpets and they were not scotch guarded. So, I guessing all I got was a wax job in the driveway, not a professional detail job.
I don’t mind paying money for good work, but I do mind paying money for shoddy unprofessional, take the money and run work. I’m a very good repeat customer, if I’m treated with respect, but this job was very disrespectful.
He did get a scratch out that was on the door, so that’s why they get a 2, instead of a 1. But now I can’t see the blue chips in the black anymore on the vehicle.
If anyone knows of a professional auto detailing establishment, that will take their time and actually detail, not express wax your vehicle… Please let me know.

My husband mistakenly left the sunroof of our new Pathfinder open during a big storm. Our car was just purchased in June and this was in October. The leather seats looked awful and I honestly thought they were completely ruined. There was also water leaking from the top paneling. After a few days it started to smell really musty in our car.
My husband called this place and spoke to George. George explained in detail what the process for fixing our problem was. He said it’s not uncommon and they always get a few of «these» calls after a big storm! He said he had availability the next day for us and would pick up our car and drop it off.
George picked up the car right from our apartment complex the next day as promised, even a bit early, and was very professional. He even called me mid-​day to let me know how everything was going and when the car would be done. He dropped it back off in the time he said he would.
The car looked amazing! We couldn’t believe the job they did. Everything looked and smelled brand new. I think it might have been even cleaner than when we drove off the lot!
If we ever need any detailing services in the future, we won’t hesitate to call them.

George did not disappoint! My car was its normal trainwreck — though this time I’d pulled the various and sundry party accoutrements out but the car still smelled and looked like it was 13 years old. My car is a teenager — with all that entails.
I just needed an interior detail and they took their time while I enjoyed the free wifi and a diet coke from their old fashioned soda machine. The spot isn’t fancy but it feels like a good old down to earth business. My car came back sparkling. I mean, I think they might have actually taken the seats out.
Reminder that they only take cash so make sure you bring it or can get down to the corner store on lamar to get some out. My car feels fresh and new and doesn’t embarrass the hell out of me whenever i have to give someone a ride.
