Built in 1902, The Market & Tap Room is a classic cocktail bar with a vintage feel in the heart of Austin’s Warehouse district. Stop by for an unforgettable evening.

Originally Nelson Davis & Son Wholesale Grocer on W. 4th Street, we took the classic feel of the building and turned it into a nightlife destination unlike any other. Tuck in to a drink in our indoor tap room, warm and inviting with exposed brick and wood all around. Enjoy our open-​air rooftop deck with strings of lights and the Austin skyline offering a beautiful setting for a fun happy hour.

Our staff is even more inviting than our ambiance — willing to take the time to carefully craft you a classic American cocktail with a modern twist.

History

Established in 2014.

In 1902, on the SE corner of 4th and Colorado, Nelson Davis built a warehouse and office for his family’s wholesale grocery. This served as the hub of grocery distribution for Austin for many years. The Market brings this building back to its roots with early 20th century décor and cozy atmosphere. With so much success so far, we look forward to adding you to our long list of happy visitors.

Totally classy and cool rooftop bar with all of the Austin essentials– cute bartenders and that warm fall air. The view is nraethtaking for a 2⁄3 storyish height. There are lots of longey couch options for seating and it makes for a real classic, elegant feel. I had a great time celebrating my friend’s birthday with her up here. Bottom floor was empty, but upstairs was 10 – 15 people on a week night. No food options, but lots of great drinks and beer options!

I came here on a Saturday night around 11 pm and had a great time. Good drinks, great atmosphere and cheap prices. We got 3 wells and it was 15 bucks.
There is a nice little view from upstairs and its always nice being outside even in November. There was great music and we all had a great time

Here’s a little corner spot in downtown Austin. We decided to get away from 6th street and venture off to 4th street, and we ended up at The Market. It was about 1030 or 11 pm so people were still coming in. It’s a nice two story bar. They have a full bar down stairs along with a DJ playing some awesome music for all. We end up going to the roof top. What a beautiful view. The weather was just right. They have a full bar upstairs, TV’s, and the music was going. The staff was super friend and it was easy to order a drink or two. They have a great selection of IPA’s which are my fave at the moment. There were restrooms located on both floors. They only thing I really didn’t like was all the stairs you had to take to get to the top. But we survived and we had a great time. We will be going back soon to keep Austin Weird. So if you’re in Austin for the weekend make The Market one of your stops.

Awesome place to come grab a beer and relax after a day of work. I met up with some coworkers here on a Tuesday around 6pm and it was completely empty on the bottom floor but the roof top had about 15 or so people at it. The music was just the right level, not too loud and not too quiet.
I do not remember their specific specials but I do recall it being based on domestic beers. Now that the weather is cooling off, I am sure I will be making a few more appearances here.

This place was so fun! I loved the rooftop which had enough seating and standing room and another bar! Great view of central downtown Austin. The bar area downstairs was cool too, I liked the swanky chairs they had. I don’t know how I never heard of this place before, now I’m a fan!

Bar tender dumped the glasses in soapy water then poured our drinks in the soapy water glasses. Is Titos and Soap a specialty drink on the menu? When pointed out the error he was overwhelming un-​apolegetic and rude when we asked to have those drinks re-​poured. Service was pretty poor, slow and egotistical. Not a place to go if you want to experience the chill and laid back atmosphere of Austin Texas.

Typical warehouse district roof top bar. Depending on the night you will have a good DJ or not. Can get kind of crowded and lots of stumble about drunks. Defiantly not a relax and sit back lounge. I feel like the drink prices are fare but not a bargain.
Nothing special about the palace but nothing bad either. Good people watching and a little dancing if your in the mood there really isn’t «dance» floor

Spotted this place while driving through downtown Austin and instantly decided I wanted to check it out. The draped lights on the rooftop caught my eye.
There are 3 levels (basement, main level and rooftop). We skipped the bottom floors and went straight to the rooftop. It’s not the biggest roof top, but not small either… perfect size in my opinion. There’s a bar and restrooms on the rooftop, so you don’t have to leave to pay the water bill.
The DJ played a great variety of music — hip hop, pop, r&b, 90’s hits, EDM. There were several times we started to leave, but stayed longer because we couldn’t stop dancing/​singing.
There’s no official dance floor, but there’s enough space for people to gather and cut a rug in different areas. They offer seating as well — several sections and bar stools along the sides.
I really enjoyed myself here. It was a mixed crowd and everyone was down to earth. I struck up conversation, danced and shared laughs with about 3 or 4 complete strangers. There was a lot of positive energy in this place. In addition, the drinks were reasonable priced and the bartenders pour generously. I’ll definitely be back on my next trip to Austin.

Stumbled upon this rooftop bar after a long day at work with my coworkers and the boy. The thing that attracted me was the rocking chairs! Alas, they were taken by the time we arrived, but I liked the ambiance. Music was a little bit too loud, but they had fans blowing to get the wind going. Bathrooms are a bit dark. Service was friendly as well.

Stopped on for a drink while we decided on where we wanted to eat. We both ordered Moscow mules. It was happy hour. What’s not to love! The rooftop bar is really cute, left me jealous that we don’t have those in Houston. The blond bartender could be a bit more friendly but when you make a good drink I guess you can be a bit cocky lol. The Happy Hour prices rock! It was a great experience and I would highly recommend it.

On my trip to Austin I wanted to check out at least one rooftop bar. Luckily this place is located in Downtown and close to my hotel. Came here early Saturday evening (before things got really crowded) and was able to enjoy the view of Downtown. They’ve got a nice setup, with plenty of seating and even a swing. Decorated with string lighting, it’s a nice quaint place during the night. Service was friendly, like most places in Austin. I’d say give it a try if you’re in the area.

Nice space for a private event or rental. Multiple levels, a great rooftop bar and patio, setup for coat-​check, food, and drinks. I went for a company holiday party and was really impressed with how fast the bartenders could turnover drink orders, and the general organization of the staff. There’s also karaōke setup downstairs and a larger beer selection there.
Parking can be tough, but there’s a lot down on 2nd and Colorado that has $ 7 parking for the night (which is pretty reasonable). It does get loud when crowded, and they were a little neurotic about having ID/​tickets/​proof of invitation, but other than that, it was great.

I was just here for a private party on the roof top deck and it was such a great space.
The rooftop has a great view of the city and the vibe had really good energy. There was actually more seating than I expected with two outdoor sofa areas and several high top barrels (tables) with chairs.
Bartenders were quick and friendly as everyone has mentioned. There are also bathrooms on the rooftop which was nice rather than having to go inside all the way downstairs.
The interior bars all had french, parisian chic look and feel without being overly done. I felt the space was still relaxed and inviting while still remaining upscale. Overall a cool place for drinks.

Stopped in for a quick visit and really enjoyed it. Its corner location makes for a great people-​watching spot and I just couldn’t help but notice the music wafting from its rooftop. While the name is pretty bland, the interior is rustic brick with a staircase that winds up to the patio on top.
Great view from there overlooking the city and across the street to the hangar bar. Enjoyed music from a solo artist and the bartender was a pro. With some stuffed chairs and seating around the edges, the Market is definitely worth a stop if you’re in downtown ATX.
