Specialties
My practice has two main components:
1. Real estate-related advice and litigation; and
2. Civil appeals.
A large part of the real estate practice is devoted to HOA and condo disputes, where I represent homeowners only and never represent HOA’s as a matter of principle. I also help buyers and sellers in real estate deals. I litigate all kinds of real estate disputes, including fraud cases and lawsuits to force performance of sale contracts.
My civil appeals practice encompasses both state and federal appeals and includes U.S. Supreme Court and Texas Supreme Court appeals. I write highly readable briefs that tell stories people can relate to. My opponents are usually large, well-funded corporations and their large law firms.
Meet the Business Owner
Patrick S.
Business Owner
I represent ordinary people and small businesses. I grew up in the Dallas area in a family of modest means. I worked from age 13, and worked all through college and law school.
I spent seven years as a fish out of water in a large law firm in Washington, DC, then bailed out and started a design/build firm there, teaching myself to draft by hand and, later, on the computer. I always had plenty of work as a designer and builder.
In 2006, my wife and I decided to move with our two young children to Texas to be nearer to family. The design/build business didn’t take off immediately, so I decided to get back into the law. However, having worked for myself for nearly ten years, I couldn’t go back to working for others, so I hung out my own shingle.
My wife and I live with our three boys in central Austin, and we have two cats who tolerate one another pretty well.
