Who knew there still existed such coziness in Downtown Austin?! I work in dt, and only visited this coffeehouse yesterday. It was like stepping into an Austin business from 20 years ago. The smell, the furniture, and the intimacy of the place made me incredibly nostalgic. I got a simple brewed coffee and had it black. It was good and fresh, despite it being the middle of the day. Can’t wait to curl up with a book here over a weekend!

Vegan a ‘fad’? I found the female barista was insulting. 1.) Moved away from us while we were ordering w/o directing us to her open register. 2.) when I asked if there were any vegan desserts she retorted«no, everyone has ‘moved on’ to gluten free now.» I found that response insulting — as if to imply veganism isn’t a choice, but a FAD until the next popular food fad arrives. 3.) After swiping my card,(& receiving a tip I’d like to take back), she couldn’t be bothered with ‘thank you’, ‘do you need a receipt?’, it even a ‘have a nice day’. She simply spoke through me to the person behind me before I could scoop up my 2drinks, meals and snack. 4.) same poducts available at other coffee shops.

Great talented barista’s. They actually know how to pull a good espresso shot. Cool vibe here, very relaxed, plenty of seats.

So welcoming and comfortable. Was on a vacation and this place was a savior in the mornings. Made me feel like a local. Great coffee and a wonderful place to plan out the rest of the Austin day.

Pretty cool interior and vibe. Honestly didn’t love coffee, but after the strong espresso of Boulder, Colorado it’s hard to compare them fairly! Highly recommend the breads that they have in the display case on the counter. The carrot zucchini combo was probably the best bread I’ve ever had!

Not an ideal place for studying. I couldn’t help but to first notice the music, which was not only super loud but bad too… Just really bad music. And the tables are very small. My cappuccino was mediocre as well. Oh and customer service wasn’t good either… The guy with the eye-glasses had an attitude. Or he was just careless.

My favorite place for coffee in Austin, both hot and iced, and any of their specialty drinks, they also serve good beer and pastries, I make a point to stop here, usually multiple times, each time I’m here in Austin, friendly staff and cool vibe

Went to a SXSW event at The Hideout. All in all a great vibe and a delicious coffee. There are tons of great coffee shops in Austin but you should definitley add The Hideout to your list of spots with great drinks with a great vibe.

Coffee House + Theatre= I dig it. Its right on Congress Ave so parking is a nightmare, I have only stopped in for coffee and a pastry but would not so much for food. Coffee is fine just fine. Check out the shows they post, those can be pretty good!

Great to see a divey joint in the middle of Downtown Austin, and indeed a hidden joint. While the Internet is usable, the connection can be slow. I also felt that the music was a little distracting and a bit aggressive for a café. Service was great and quick though. I got the cold brew. If you’re looking for a caffeine fix that is generally more affordable in Downtown ATX, consider the Hideout.

The right amount of sugar and chill. Nice low key coffee shop. All of the quality without any of the snobbishness. Snagged an apple fritter. It was awesome not to sweet and it wasn’t dry at all(trying to avoid using the word mo*st) but it was! Also grabbed the gorilla mocha which was super tasty. Not too heavy and just sweet enough. Lots of mochas tend to be too syrupy, but the gorilla was just right

Had the gorilla mocha which was awesome. We had stayed at the driskill so went here for a light breakfast. Breakfast tacos were just okay. They were a tad gringo for my taste. I really liked laid back environment.

We are visiting from out of town, staying around the corner at The Driskell. This place is perfect for coffee and a light breakfast. Cool atmosphere, great mocha and wonderful breakfast burritos!

Went to work here for an hour on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Nice atmosphere. Got a beef and cheese sandwich with some coffee — both were tasty. I’m removing one star because the guy who served me had a serious attitude. He left me standing waiting to be served while he was writing something in a notebook, and when I said ‘Hello’ as he came to serve me and he just replied ‘Yes?’. Then when I asked for a savory croissant he just said abruptly ‘There’s none’, so I asked if they still had sandwiches to which he said ‘Of course we have sandwiches’. Then he threw my credit card back at me on the counter instead of handing it to me. Don’t know what’s up his ass today but I let it slide. Such a shame mate, be nicer to your customers.

I’d a lot of expectations from this place. The latte was a disappointment. Too much milk, no coffee at all. Baked goods are good though. I’ll not return here for coffee.

Getting a bite to eat before the show upstairs! Got the roast beef and cheddar sandwich. It made in front of me, didn’t take too long. Plenty of seating. The sandwich came nice & hot. Was not sure if I would like it since it comes with horseradish mayo, but it ended up tasting real good. So I was glad I ordered it, it was also very filling. Nice atmosphere. Would definitely came back again.

I stopped in here only because I found parking right in front of the store. I am always up for trying a new coffee house so I couldn’t resist. I tried the almond joy and found it to be very average. It wasn’t bad, but nothing to write home about therefore definitely no reason for me to stop in again.

Good drinks selection, ice cream, coffee-ice cream shakes, Sugar Mama’s cupcakes, gluten-free cookies, sandwiches, breakfast tacos for $ 2.75, and bagels. For a small shop they keep a pretty large selection of local food products. I didn’t try the food but the green tea was delicious and refills are only $ 1. My only complaint is that the wifi was a bit on the slower side and it even wasn’t packed that day. Otherwise, the chairs are comfy, the vibe is chill, and the drinks are reasonably priced.

This is a really cool place. I’ve been twice. Each time I’ve had a combination of coffee and drinks. They have a good selection and their coffee is what you would expect in a divey coffee shop. Meaning good. The staff are nice and pretty cool to talk to.

If you don’t think the staff here is rude then you must be a Lithuania orphan who was abused by alcoholic nuns your entire childhood. Carrie! Hey Carrie!!! Don’t delete this. This perfectly sums up the patron’s experience. If you had ever been here you would know.

I picked this little coffeehouse as my «work from home» spot for the day. It’s a homely little nook, cozy, perfect for an informal business meeting or afternoon pick me up. They do beer and wine for happy hour and have a variety of lunch time snacks. I am on a cold brew kick right now and theirs really got my blood flowing, so thumbs up there. My tip would be, try their harvest loaf. I literally had to hide it from myself so I wouldn’t devour the whole thing at once.

Loved the coffee, staff seemed alright and seems like it would be a pretty chill place to work. Can’t speak to the after hours comedy stuff but I’d go back for the latte if I’m in the area.

Great coffee shop! Hard to find parking since downtown but if lucky this is a nice hidden gym. Cool, hip Atmosphere. The food there is really good as well and cheap. Good place to socialize with friends or get studying done. Don’t sit in the seats in front of the bathroom though because you will hear EVERYTHING!

ying-yang = ying YUM. This half white half chocolate mocha was DELICIOUS. The place itself was cool, not my favorite. It was movie theatre style, kinda vintage. However, the«vintage» look just made it look kind of dirty. I prefer the modern, cleaner look but I still liked it. They had unique drinks which gave it a bump from just an average hipster coffee shop so overall a good experience!

STRONGEST coffee I’ve ever had. The iced coffee is crack. The red eye is crack and then some. I have taken out of town visitors here and they said this was the strongest coffee they’d ever had too. Thank you so much for the energy and eye twitching. Great prices and good service as well. Good things come to those who drink here!

I’ve been thinking about how I could do this place justice with some words on the internet… for DAYS… and I just can’t. I mean, how do you properly communicate to someone the stream of tears you cried, doubled over laughing hysterically or the number of times your ass came up off of your seat in a fit of laughter?! I came across The Big Bash event listing a few weeks ago while looking for something interesting to do as part of my 30th birthday festivities. This seemed fitting. I had zero idea what to expect, but can I just say that any expectations I did have coming in here were blown out of the water in the first couple of acts. I’ve seriously never laughed so hard in my life. It’s better than Whose Line is it Anyway, but the same idea… improv that encourages suggestions from the audience and even audience participation. That’s right folks, I volunteered to «help out», but when they said I’d be doing sound effects for everything Roy did I about passed out. I don’t do sound effects… and I definitely don’t do them while I’m cracking up. I was in literal tears by the time I sat back down. I could not have been more impressed with this production or the people in it. Roy, one of the improvers, was also the person I was in contact with ahead of time, and he graciously reserved seats together for our party. So professional and you can tell these entertainers are totally invested in their craft. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been nearly as impressive. I’m already planning a return trip!

Downtown, and need a place to chill where you can, like, chill? This is what coffee houses used to be like: cool, comfortable, low-key. The kind of place where you just start up conversations with other people based on their hair or shoes or the phone they’re flashing. Cause its easy. The coffee’s good, the prices are fair, the servers look you in the eye, and there’s plenty of room to lounge and visit which, on a cold afternoon, is much better than drowning your sorrows in a beer. Yes, the parking is a bitch: its downtown, remember? But if you want to be treated like a human, meet some interesting peeps and really get to relax even if its just for a few moments, skip the corporate stores and try the Hideout. You can thank me later.
