The Gas Pipe

I have been coming to the gas pipe since I was in high school and actually make the drive from Georgetown to come here. There are a few other head shops closer to our place, but for us the gas pipe is always worth the drive! Some of their larger pieces can definitely get a little pricey, but the local artists need to make their money too, yo. I always have a wonderful experience with their staff, tonight especially, and never feel pressured to buy anything. They even give you an awesome little prize on your birthday (pint glass, papers, shot glass, koozie, lighter, etc…), score! I have never had an issue with the quality of glass and this is one of the few shops that doesn’t overload on incense and give me a headache. I highly recommend these guys if you’re looking for anything smoking related, they’re great!

Shouldn’t even deserve the full star, this place is a joke you cant even look around without the workers starring you down like a hawk not to mention they assume the worst out of their customers. Some douche bag tall guy with a beard is just horrible their gives the shittiest service. HONESTLY DONT SPEND YOUR CASH ON TAXED ITEMS HERE !!! Shits overpriced to begin with and then comes with bad customer service? CANT, THIS IS A NO GO !!!

I was there today and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was my boyfriends birthday and they gave him complementary items just because it was his birthday. Very nice of them and they have great prices! Il be back

Love the selection of local production glass pipes, bongs and vape pens. What else do you need from a Head Shop? Maybe some screens? Anyone whom purchases any other products at this place needs to have their head (pun intended) examined. The mark up on large vape machines is ridiculous, but hey, Amazon has them for two thirds the price. Also, the staff have been really friendly for the last couple of years. Prior to that, the jackasses whom worked in the store were pretty awful. Too cool, and way shitty in attitude. Nice change. Anyway, they take care of me well now. All I got.

I purchased a glass bong, took it home and changed my mind to get a better model. The rather rude woman said it was their policy to not take returns or even give a credit towards another purchase. She had the nerve to say «how do I know this is your receipt». I have never had this happen with any other business in Austin. I’ll never shop there again!!!

Laura was so helpful in assisting me decide what kind of vape pen to get. Both employees were super sweet each one took the time to help me. I had to go back the next day because I reassembled my product incorrectly and Kecia fixed the problem herself and sent me on my way with my working product at no extra charge. I’ve never had such a good experience at a smoke shop, such sweet ladies. Go see them!

The majority of the stock Gas Pipe carries are locally blown, with the rest being a collection of work by reputable artists.

I understand paying a premium for buying local, but this place is insane.

I’ve never seen anything like it. $ 70 over the MSRP?
BC Smoke Shop has it for $ 230. I’ll gladly shop there instead and save $ 119 over this rip-​off shop.
Oat Willie’s also has it for $ 250.

Hadn’t been in a while and stopped in for a few things.
As I walked in there is a man telling an animated story to the clerk and he seems annoyed that I have come in middle of his tale. I guess he was the manager and he felt the need to come interrupt while I spoke to the guy to announce that he had been there 27 years and have never carried what I was looking for, then strutted off like a rooster. He had such an attitude and was quite the dick about it, and then I remembered this is why I hadn’t been there in so long!
It’s worth it to drive a few more miles down Burnet to the new Oat Willies.

I haven’t shopped at this local business in almost 7 years. I stopped into the North location for a replacement stem and was quickly reminded why i haven’t been back in so long. When i asked to see the diffuser stems, and pointed at the 14, she handed me the 14 and i said «Cool, that’ll be fine.» Her quick and rather short response, «Not really ’cause 16 is the standard, this is 14. do you even know what size you have?»… MFM bit his tongue and continued to play nice.
Maybe because this tall-​ish female sales rep just had to give her beau a hug before he left the store, and she just had to eat her food next to the door on the display cases after doing so, She did not want to help me. Had my potential purchase been any mor than $ 10.00, i would have walked out. The store IMO, didn’t even deserve the $ 8.65 they did get. She invited her co-​worker to finish off «the sale» so she could handle her beausness. You work at a SMOKE SHOP, at least pretend to be kind of ha (i)ppy.
i gave this rating a 2^nd star based on the amount of glass they have. However that COULD just mean nobody wants to buy from such a rude staff. Customer beware!

Terrible customer service. It was like walking into a sorority house, but the girls working had less class. She was too involved with swearing up a storm and telling a story to her friend about her previous night partying to ask what we were looking for. They have decent glass, and we wanted to spend money, but the vapid condescending help chased us out. It was the second time we’ve received crappy help there. Oat willies has more bang for your buck and better service.

Lack of a good selection in cigars and they are not even kept in a humidor. But if you want a pipe it looks like they can help you

Never had a problem, and they are helpful, especially if you need spare parts, et cetera.
If you spend some time and look at their inventory, you’ll find things that are well priced and also appealing to you. It never hurts to ask them questions for their thoughts.

really pricey like planet K. just another generic headshop chain. nothing special that other stores dont carry. they got other unmentionables and obscure cult/​alternative items. but i went there for the pipes and the selection was average. The prices were too expensive. same with the salvia. im not interested.

That’s what comes to mind when I think of this place. Every time I go there I always walk out with something, or more than what I came there for. They have a nice selection of glass pieces more than planet k has. I have bought at least 20 pieces there as well as a few bongs (ROOR) :-) All the flavored rolling papers are cool to sample. They carry 420 cleaner which is all I use WORKS AWESOME!!! You can spend alot of money here on some cool glass work for sure.

Maybe there aren’t enough dope-​heads this far North of the river. Nah, couldn’t be.
Not only do they carry incense, they have a wide array of pipes, (for tobacco only!) waterpipes. wait, I’m not AT the Gas Pipe, I can say whatever I want! BONGS. They carry lots of bongs, weed pipes in all shapes and sizes, and even hookahs. And sex toys, body jewelry, disc golf frisbees, grow lights and plant growing accessories, tiny digital scales to weigh something very light and perhaps powdery. Grinders for your herbal remedies, papers, cigars, actual tobacco and real tobacco pipes, piss-​test passing elixirs, and of course Whip-​its and whip-​it opening devices!
Or so I’ve heard. Never shopped for any of that.
But I have been in there many times and the service varies widely. Most of the time the clerks are laid-​back guys that know the score and are used to dealing with all types of fiends and freaks. They’ve even been nice enough to give me change for the car wash next door. Sometimes, and maybe I just look square, but other clerks can be absolute a-​holes. Like you’re interrupting their pastime which happens to be working retail at a store they probably frequented before they thought to ask for an application.
Anyway, I’ve priced items here that are cheaper elsewhere.
