Although some may enjoy the shops here, I found them to be messy, overcrowded and subpar. No matter what time I went during both the week and the weekend, the entire outlet was packed with people. We had to walk about a mile to get to the shops, and when we got there it was a letdown. I didn’t realize until my second visit that you can actually call the free shuttle to pick you up if you can’t handle the heat, so take a brochure for the Domain from the information center and make sure to take advantage of this!
Onto the stores: H&M barely had their AC on in 95 degree heat and the entire store was humid and everything was messy. Victoria’s Secret also looked like a disorganized trash heap, and the entire store smelled like someone went to the bathroom and tried to cover it up with an entire can of Febreeze. Forever 21 was basically an outlet for miniature and junky, unwearable clothing… not much different than other F21s elsewhere. Macys was okay, except the Junior’s section which was a mess; they had a live band playing, but unfortunately it was a bad cover band that insisted on playing George Michael and ‘Footloose’ and if that isn’t enough to get you to leave the store I don’t know what else is… Also, I got mild food poisoning when I ate at one of their restaurants, Kona Grill, so make sure to avoid.
I’m not impressed by the selection and the way the stores are organized. I’m not sure why it’s as crowded as it is, other than the fact that Austin barely has any decent shopping elsewhere.

+ Starting off… I am giving The Domain 4 stars despite a big complaint I have with it. Overall, it is really is a beautiful outdoor mall that is forever expanding. Whether it’s day or late night, The Domain does have plenty to offer for diners and shoppers. Plus, Rock Rose (street) is the place to go for great food ranging from curry to seafood. Since I live near by, I probably visit the Domain 2 to 3 times a week, even if I just go for a walk to get out of the house.
— What bothers me to no end is the lack of diverse stores. Outside of Torrid, there really isn’t a good place for plus size or even larger men to shop at. While I love Torrid’s clothes, they are very expensive. Macy’s was my only other hope for being able to find clothes here but I soon came to the realization that they must be scared of going over a size 16. They sell a huge selection of + size on their website but not in store or at least in this particular location. Extremely frustrating.
I get it… I am sure the typical shopper that comes to Macy’s and to the Domain probably are not plus size but it is a disservice for business and customer to not offer SOME form of larger sizes. I thought everything was bigger in TX. Hmmm… Austin must be the exception.
Until I become less fat, I guess I have to stick with good ol’ Old Navy for clothes and The Domain for my dinning and shoes.
Side note… Gloria’s is AMAZING! Their black bean dip is the bomb!

The Domain is a great outdoor mall with mostly high end stores. I enjoy coming here outside of the brutal Austin hot months, just to people watch. There is a very diverse crowd that shops here. The parking garage is a bit tight on the parking spaces, small cars are definitely preferred. There are also some great restaurants and an upscale theater for entertainment.
The newer section of the Domain has less people and that is sometimes very appreciated. I don’t buy a lot of things here often, but I do enjoy the restaurants and just browsing some of the stores that I normally wouldn’t seek out. It’s a nice change of pace from my usual big box store shopping.

I wish I had more time to shop here! I love that it’s an outdoor shopping center. The h&m is pretty big so that’s definitely a thumbs up. We got drinks at «The Steeping Leaf» which turned out pretty good (the berry smoothie and the matcha smoothie). The Apple store is very spacious with many associates available. Nearby is a Neiman Marcus which includes Chanel, Prada, Gucci and Saint Laurent. Looked like a small collection compared to other locations I’ve been to. Overall, I had a great shopping experience and would definitely return.

Great atmosphere for day time shopping or night time dining out. They have a great selection of many different stores including Kendra Scott and Lily Pulitzer which are personal favorites and include more of the luxurious brands as well. It’s an outdoorsy mall and they have such a cool pet friendly policy that I didn’t see before back home where pets are allowed in the stores and there were water bowls in the front. They are extremely pet friendly, but also kid friendly as well. There’s a place for children to play in and huge rocking chairs for families that I see quite a lot. As for food wise, they have a great selection of a variety of foods. A personal favorite of mine is North which is italian cuisine and definitely worth a shot. They also have this great little tea place that offers afternoon tea. They don’t have a lot of stores as most malls, but even so this is the one mall in Austin that I’ve gone to so many times whether it’s for dining, shopping, or just studying. This shopping center is still worth the visit for the great atmosphere and feel it provides and offers :)

4 stars for Austin, but anywhere else it’d be just 3 stars.
Austin doesn’t have any decent malls, so this will have to do. I’m too frugal for high end boutique stores but it does have an Apple Store & a Dicks. They finished the park construction in front of iPic theater (that place that charges $ 20 a pop). Great outdoor sitting area for reading, having a bite to eat, or having crying toddlers trample you.

There are so many aspects here to review a mall on I’m not sure where to begin.
Positives: I like the outdoor atmosphere and they have some nice stores there. We frequent the Domain for happy hour fairly often as well although it is rare for us to come eat dinner here so I’m not sure how to rate the restaurant situation.
Negatives: The mall is not very kid or family friendly with very few children’s stores. The layout of the shopping center is one of the worst I’ve seen with Dick“s and a parking lot dividing it. We personally rarily make it to the newer part of the domain on the Dillard’s side. The mall anchors are average at best. A Bloomingdale’s would have been a nice addition to Austin. It should be a little better if Nordstrom’s ever goes in. Parking can be tough on the weekends also. There are a lot of high end stores such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Tesla which is kinda cool, but also stores I would rarely walk into. I typically seem to just go to Zara, Forever 21, and H&M so I guess it is nice that they are all in the same proximity. The H&M is small compared to Houston or Dallas, but I guess its better than nothing.
In general compared to malls in Houston, Dallas, or in California, the malls in Austin in general are pretty bad. I guess since Austin is about being weird and live music, it is not as fashion conscious as other cities.

We were staying really close to this location, so it was a must see. It’s a very big mall which is quite crowded (be patient with parking). It could have been really busy due to it being around Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it was popular. The mall is very clean, and beautiful with quite a bit of nice architecture. We checked out a few stores and I was very impressed with how friendly everyone was (apparently, most people in Austin are, which is a huge bonus to me).
There is a golf cart that will come by and help you get around if you need it too. I wish I had more time to look around, but my stay was pretty short. I thought it was really cool that the concept included apartments, and condominiums mixed in with retail and food. Very cool concept. There were quite a few high end stores as well.
For a nice mall that would be great to walk around on a beautiful day, this is the place.

Really packed and no parking. Holiday shopping has begun! Had to stalk people that were walking out just to win a space. Vast variety of well known stores the set up is (kinda…not really) like la cantera in San Antonio. Charming christmas décor all over and my little elf took a stunning picture by the humongous tree.

What other shopping centers are outdoors AND let you bring your dog into the shops?! Went here with my wife to look for home goods type items and brought the pooch along. They have a great variety of shops and also restaurants for a mid shopping snack or cocktail — definitely will come back

The Domain is full. Most of the people are those that had to move from their state as their company moved. It is crowded, especially with people who have not adjusted as of yet to their new location. It will happen though. Many are people from places where their parents paid for their college, cars, living expenses, etc. This is not wrong, it is just a new generation, making changes. Today, while sitting in my car at Whole Foods, chillin, this guy came up to my open car window and said that in Monterey you did not take up a space sitting in your car. He stuck his hand and finger into the window to make his point and suddenly learned the danger of doing just that. I reacted appropriately. He quickly backed away. No, I did not pull a handgun or anything, but he got the point. However, I told him no worries, just I did not recommend that he confront someone in an aggressive manner without knowing what someone has for protection. We parted with a smile, and then he had the lady he was with walk directly into traffic so cars would stop and then he followed.
Sad I felt for him, but yet I hoped the lady was not his wife. For the newbies, this might be a good pace to rent and then later decide where you would like to live in Austin.

Really nice shopping center. All the stores you could need, great restaurants and bars, coffee… it has everything. Plenty of parking (except during events like Dogtober Fest). It’s also great to be able to walk around outside while you shop (during the four months a year when Austin has bearable outside weather)!

Being new to ATX i’m always on the lookout for a place I can cool my jets and eat, people watch, drink, people watch, blah blah to any new friends I will be getting.
I like this place. Lots of good shopping, higher to mid range, good restaurants (kona grill has a great HHr for example) reminds me of City Centre in Houston (but without the parking/​tow headache)…think its owned by the same company, the layout is very similar.
Anyhoo…glad i’m not too far from this spot.

I’ve been to the Domain many of times and I am just now getting around to writing a review. Shame on me. I’ve been in Austin for 6 years and the Domain has exploded (in a good way) in the last 2 years or so with more restaurants, stores, and luxury apartments.
I don’t shop too much here as it is more high end stores and I am just not about that life. I do like H&M and (sometimes) Forever 21 as I can find items in my price range. I have also been to Torrid and Charming Charlie (my favorite store). Recently I did make a purchase at Kendra Scott store and the MAC Cosmetics store (just take all my money why don’t you).
What I come to the Domain for is mostly happy hour. My favorite place is The Park. They have drink and food specials every day and the food is good. Sometimes the service can be iffy but guess I can’t have it all. I also enjoy Blackfinn, Kona Grill, and Maggianos and the 2 for 1 pasta special. Recently I tried a new place called Flaming Pizza.
Parking is not the best here especially on the weekends. There are garages but sometimes you still have to fight for a spot. By BlackFinn it can be frustrating because most of those lot spots are now for valet and when it is 100 degrees who wants to walk from the parking garage.
Lastly, the Domain now has its own farmers market on Sundays from 3−6pm. It is pretty nice so I encourage everyone to support and check it out!

I visit the Domain quite often and it is my go to ‘mall’ in Austin. It is an outdoor shopping center similar to Fire Wheel (Dallas) Victoria Gardens (Rancho Cucamonga) and Shops at LaCantera (San Antonio). Barton Creek is a close second for my shopping needs. The Domain is a mix of high and low end shopping.
The anchor stores are Dillard’s, Dick’s, Macy’s and Neiman Marcus. Between Dillard’s and Dick’s you’ll find this area caters to kids and pets. There are many play areas for kids and an open lawn area. Also, on the lawn there is usually an artist performing. There is a train for the kids to ride. The stores in this area are your lower end mall stores like Agaci, Papaya, Payless, Bath and Body Works, and etc. This area is a lot quieter and peaceful even with the kids and dogs running around.
Your more higher stores like Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Apple, Kendra Scott is located all between Macy’s and Neiman Marcus. Also thrown in the mix is XXI, H&M, Zara and a bunch of restaurants. This side of the Domain is extremely busy. Be careful crossing the street. People are easily distracted and its best you make eye contact with the driver before crossing.
The Domain isn’t perfect. It doesn’t have several stores that are standard in a mall. So depending on how bad you need it. You may need to make a trip to Barton Creek. Overall, it’s a fun place to shop on a nice day.

Super neat outdoor mall in North Austin. Great place to bring out-​of-​towners if they like walking, cocktails, shopping, free parking, and of course — more walking (over .5mi end-​to-​end). Never brought my dog here, but it’s pet-​friendly for the most part so get ready to rack up the pedometer points. Did most of my ring shopping at three of their jewelry stores — all very helpful. Definitely more suburban upper-​mid-​class atmosphere than the collegiate parts of town (6th/E.6th, etc). There’s a train station not too far away but not nearly convenient enough to be 5-​star walkable. Don’t think it’s within Car2Go boundaries yet either :-/​
Almost forgot, ~$ 100 date-​night type place btw…

This place reminds me of a mini version of Santana Row, not as pretentious in scale or personality. The entrance to this outdoor mall is a mess and the stores are too spread out. Still, there is plenty of parking and a new building seems to emerge every few months. The clothing stores are mostly what you can get in the mall, Banana Republic, J. Crew, Victoria’s secret and is anchored by Neiman Marcus. I wish the shopping selection was either more upscale or lesser known boutiques. All the stores that I like, such as Barney’s Coop, Mexx, Betsy Johnson have closed.
The restaurants here are too crowded on weekends and most are over-​priced, average-​tasting, with a fancy-​ish atmosphere.
I come here mostly when I need to go to the Apple Store, which seems too often, or need to kill some time while I’m in the area. It’s also family-​friendly, with outdoor arts events about once a month.
