We actually really enjoyed this bar. It’s rather small but the music made you feel like you were at a concert. It was super loud and bumping! The drinks were great! The bartenders were dancing around and having a good time. I even saw people get up on the bar and dance. This place has a small dance floor in the back as well. I kinda wish they had more seating area but because the place is so small, I understand why they don’t.

Loved it!!! Small bar with GREATMUSIC!!! We heard a band called«Misbehaving»(not sure I spelled that right) and that lady could sing!!! Beautiful Black Sister singer and drummer with a gentleman playing the guitar and those 3 rocked the house playing a mixture of R&B and Rock With a great variety of songs!!! Took customers there after being at a convention in Austin! Loved it because it wasn’t packed like sardines in there and the AC was cranked up so we weren’t hot. Drinks and bar service were great !!! Very fun night!!!

This place had cheap drinks and a great band. Worth going every night to see who’s playing. Please tip the band. Most work off tips. So well worth it and totally made me feel like I was in Austin.

As we were walking down 6th street we heard some AWESOME90s music so we had to go inside this bar to see what it was all about. After the 90s Bar Crawl this was exactly what we needed was some good music. We danced the night away with friendly people and great music. I would definitely go back!

It’s possible for one person(bartender) to ruin an experience. While we left completely disgusted with his behavior and actions, we did return later in the evening to find he was off shift; replaced by friendly tenders. The visit(s) here started off good, went bad, and ended our E 6th St experience on an up note. We were here early evening and then again later in the night. Large open windows in the front of the deep and narrow venue. No issues with the door man(we don’t look underage). The music here was great. A mix of genre performed by two guys in hats. Patrons, in general, were fun and engaging. For the most part, the place looked clean. A breakdown of the 2÷26÷16 experience in «stars»: — Bartender 1(male): 0(zero) stars — disgusting behavior. — Bartender 2(female) 3 stars — Drink Prices: erratic — Drink Quality: erratic — Atmoshphere and ambience: 4 stars — Music: 5 stars — Guy dancing around drawing pictures: 5 stars The bartender on our original visit was more than obnoxious and rude. Appeared to be twitching a lot with erratic movements. We overheard him bad mouthing customers out of ear-shot. He threw money at my wife(not in the sexy way) when she asked what was in the 2nd drink he prepared(not what she ordered). Patrons near us at the bar also commented about his behavior, wide-eyed-and-stunned when witnessing the aggressive money throw. I’m not confident that he didn’t overcharge us for our drinks — priced at what I’d consider exorbitant($ 17) and evidenced by the same drink order later in the evening that was $ 5 less.

Came here on a Wednesday around 7:00. Place had a good crowd considering it was an off hour, but we were able to get a seat at the bar. It’s kind of a dive bar(like everything on 6th) but it was definitely less dive-y and the crowd was better than other bars. There was live music until 8 and the guy was really good. New music came on later but we were gone by that point. Travis was really good and we would’ve stayed for him, but when his shift ended, a new girl took over who was more interested in her phone than in taking care of the guests. We wound up leaving and strolled around to find a different bar. I would definitely go back, especially if Travis was there.

It is my Birthday. This bar ruined my entire night. It’s a Tuesday and no one was in the Bar. I showed them my ID to get in. Turning 25. I complimented the ID guy at the door on his gauges. Then he said I was too intoxicated and need to leave. It was my first bar. Never drank. Would not let me in at all. He wanted to leave early. Yelled at all of my friends who named this their favorite bar. It was the door guys first night. We planned to go there all night. It actually hurt my feelings how mean he was. On my Birthday. He won’t last long on a weekend night since I’m sober but this was a horrible experience.

Stopped in for a quick beer and this place is definitely divey, but in a not gross/weird guy at the end looking at my funny kind of way. I would definitely go again!

Worst door men ever. Need to learn respect. Would love to hear back from the owner or GM. I’ve worked years in the service industry and always give so much benefit of the doubt but honestly you need to review your model of customer service. I will continually reviewing until I hear back from management!

Travvvviiiiis. What a great guy. Definitely handles a crowdy bar like a champ. He doesn’t seem overwhelmed or irked like some bartenders get from high intensity work. We ordered some Jameson, but he decided to go out of his way to make his own concoction that he thought we might like. It was delicious. We were drawn into this place out of all the bars on sixth street because we heard some really good live music. The crowd has such a huge range of people. People watching the football game, younger people, older people. It was fun to all be together. Saw some promotional happy hour prices displayed on the tv. They have some really great deals for well drinks and beer. I’m sure students would love this. There’s a photobooth, so if you’re a tourist like me, have one too many cocktails and take some photos and create a memento with the dizzy rooster stamped on it.

What a night! I know it’s kind of a late review but… oh well better later than never :) I was visiting Austin over Thanksgiving 2015 as my Girlfriend is from there and we wanted to enjoy some good music in a very chill atmosphere… Let me tell you what… The Dizzy Rooster hit the spot big time. There was a guy covering awesome rock songs from the 90’s which we could sing along and after some delicious Deep Eddy(local Vodka) cocktails recommended and crafted by Juventino the fun and our time just went off the roof! The bartender made sure everything was alright at all time, making sure we did not have to wait for another round, he kept those suckers coming and the 6 of us had the time of our lives in the live music capital of the world! I will definitely coming back to Dizzy Rooster on our next thksgivin as the evening just felt so right. A late thanks to the staff and the musician!

I had a fantastic time here on my visit to Austin. Austin is such an amazing city, and the Dizzy Rooster made it even better. My girlfriend and I arrived at around 5pm. There was an extremely talented live artist playing the ukulele. We grabbed a few Jameson ginger ales from a bartender named Travis. Travis is such a machine! He whips up drinks SO fast and he was taking care of a bar full of at least 30 people. My girlfriend used to be a waitress/bartender and she was sincerely impressed. When you go to the Dizzy Rooster, say«hi» to Travis. He even gave us these cool Dizzy Rooster t-shirts! During our stay there, the owner came up to us and offered to take a picture. He was extremely nice and definitely showed a lot of Southern hospitality. We ended up leaving the Dirty Rooster to check out other bars, then we came back because Travis took such good care of us. He even made us a tasty drink concoction that we’ve never tried before. Make sure to visit the Dizzy Rooster when you visit Austin!

Almost the opposite of a bar, the bartender threw out my near full beer when I turned my back and refused to give me a new one. Not recommended!

A most dissapointing experience: i was sitting with my two friends at the bar in this cliché dive establishment, and when they went to smoke outside, the incompetent bartenders took all the half empty beers and threw them away! The staff denied all responsibility and refused to replace the beers, so we left. Go to FRIENDS instead.

I really like coming to this place during the day. Its busy but not too crazy. I usually end up here on days when some group is playing which makes my experience that much better. Cant say enough good things about the bartender. His name is Travis if Im not mistaken. He was pretty outgoing and made sure we didn’t have to wait for our next drink. Overall, this place is a cool spot at any given time.

We had a nice time here. The band was playing good music and they had Long Island Iced Teas for $ 4. We had a few of them and they tasted great, pretty strong compared to the ones at other bars, though they are served in smaller glasses. We also had a few vodka and whiskey shots, which were good and reasonably priced. The only downside was that there was only 1 bartender, and though it wad a weekday, there could have been 1 more bartender to speed up things.

Came out in the afternoon and was wondering what bar would be open and I was happy to find this spot. First things first the bartender(I wish I got his name) was super cool. Very helpful with suggesting their local brews. The atmosphere was very welcoming. Prices are also cheap. Once i come back out to austin, this will definitely be the bar that I would go back to.

I’ve been to dizzy many times before, usually at night, and usually in a daze of sorts. On this particular day, and it was during the daytime, I was taking a break from the Rock n Roll lifestyle, and decided that a beer and a shot were a good way to kill time. So i walked over to sixth, saw the guitar guy play the happy hour set, and decided this is where i will rest. Before i even sat down, the bartender, Travis, i think, nodded an acknowledgment at me and came to ask me what i was in the mood for shortly after helping the last person. I asked for a Shiner, and he suggested some other local fare, such as austin amber. Another favorite if mine, so i obliged. Also a shot of Jameson. No problem. And in proper daytime drinking fashion, Travis, opened another bottle and poured another shot, when it seemed i was almost done. Again, great. After the quick 2 beers and 2 shots, i paid my tab and headed out. Overall great stop and I’m sure I’ll stagger in the again sometime soon.
