Texas Arts Project (TAP Camp) is a performing arts summer residential camp located in Austin, Texas. TAP Camp offers programs for ages 9 – 18 in the month of June. Campers study musical theatre, acting, filmmaking and NEW this year, classical guitar.

Outstanding teaching, direction, and performance experiences enhance skill, encourage cooperative work, and nurture self-​confidence. Texas Arts Project emphasizes nurturing the imagination and creativity of each camper.

History

Established in 2003.

Texas Arts Project was the brainchild of Clay Nichols, Founder of the Theatre Focus program at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School. St. Stephen’s Episcopal School and a Day/​Boarding school for middle and high school students. Seeing an opportunity to use the 300 acre campus during the summer and offer a wonderful experience for young artists, Ginger Morris and Clay Nichols co-​founded Texas Arts Project.

Meet the Manager

Ginger M.

Manager

Ginger is the Camp Director for TAP Camp. She began her career working as Assistant Stage Manager and Academy Director for Austin Musical Theatre where she produced the Annual All-​Youth Summer Musical for three years and garnered two B. Iden Payne Awards for «Best Play for Youth.» Since then, she has directed productions with St. Edward’s University, Zilker Theatre Productions, Austin Scottish Rite Children’s Theatre, and Second Youth Family Theatre. Ginger directs and choreographs for middle schools and high schools in Central Texas including Dripping Springs, Leander and Austin school districts. She is co-​founder of Summer Stock Austin, where she has directed Footloose, West Side Story, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Little Shop of Horrors and Sweet Charity. Ginger has taught musical theatre, dance and acting workshops throughout the state and she also coaches students for musical theatre and acting auditions.
