Taste of Ink – Tattoo and Gallery

Had one of the best experiences here. The shop was so friendly I felt like I was at home with family. The place was clean and I liked that every artist had a large amount of space to work in and to make their client feel comfortable. I can’t wait to see this shop grow. So much good work I would definitely recommend over many other shops in town. I found my go to artist (trent) and can’t wait to be working on building up a sleeve. I really enjoyed my time with you today trent! Can’t wait to see you again.

Trent without a doubt is one of the elite. The guy was extremely patient concerning my ideas and suggestions for the tattoo. He’s definitely won plenty of awards and his work shows it. You get what you pay for. Anyone can pick up a tattoo gun and say they can tattoo but this guy is absolutely in a league of the best. Specializing in realism and portraits the guys is absolutely phenomenal extremely pleased with my results, and look forward to completing my arm sleeve with Trent will post more progress photos. Alex was great — professional, fun, and did great work. Also very fast, which I appreciated as far as getting the hurty part over with. The shop itself is really spacious, comfortable and actually quite pretty, more like a higher-​end salon than the typical grungy, cluttered tattoo shop. Easy to get to location, ample parking, and they take walk-​ins. Can’t ask for more. I’ll definitely be back.

Alex did my tattoo. He was professional and friendly even when I brought an entourage (3 other people). This shop is clean and the prices are reasonable for the awesome quality of work. Even though my tattoo is fairly small it’s detail is awesome.

I’m obsessed with my new tattoos (a sun and a moon on my feet done by Alex) Had an appointment for my 18^th birthday (may12th 2015) after I got in the shop and he drew up the stencil it only took about an hour to finish both tattoos. It was my first and alex and Trent made me feel super comfortable. Thanks Alex (:

I have had 4 sessions with Trent so far and his work is amazing. He is working on an Alice in Wonderland themed sleeve for me, loaded with full color portraits. I am always getting stopped and asked where I had my sleeve done. When it comes to realism, Trent is hands-​down the best. If you don’t believe me, compare his work to everyone else’s. I couldn’t be happier with his work. My wife recently had a session to get two of his signature roses and she was ecstatic when he finished her piece.
This is not your 6^th street tattoo shop. Taste of Ink is a fully designed studio with a clean and inviting atmosphere. This is the place you could send your mom, if you wanted your mom to have tattoos that is.
They do walk-​ins and appointments. My suggestion is to book a full day with Trent and get a really nice piece to be proud of.

I am in the process of getting a calf sleeve with Trent and I am in LOVE! Everyone in the shop is very approachable and fun to be around, which is important if you’re spending 6+ hours getting poked with a needle. ;) Trent’s work is ridiculous! You can tell by the way he operates and obviously the work itself. You won’t be disappointed.

Originally went in with my daughter for a Friday the 13^th tattoo. Now Trent, Alex and the shop are like family. I have an award winning portrait on my leg and refer them highly. No matter what you would like, stop by and talk to the artists, you won’t be disappointed!

My guy Alex is amazing! I have 3 lovely pieces from him so far and another appointment coming up this week. The shop is beautiful and the guys are all super friendly (nothing worse then paying someone to put something on your body forever and have them be a jerk to you, believe me, been there done that). I’ve sent some of my best friends there and everyone has been super impressed. It’s quality work and I’ve never been gouged on prices. I have over 20 tattoos including some bad ones I’ve gotten and wish I had been coming here all along. Highly recommend this little gem.

This place has me pretty peeved. When I’m looking to drop a few thousand dollars on some serious tattoo work, I expect some sort of contact when I reach out to you.
I called twice last week and left messages. I called again yesterday and left another messages concerning the cover up AND about five new pieces I would like to discuss. Unfortunately I can only assume that Ashley H’s review was spot on and I am encountering the same snotty rebuff.
If you don’t like doing cover up or touching another artist’s work, I at least deserve the corteousy of a 30 second phonecall saying thanks no thanks. What I don’t understand is that even if this was the case I have so much other work I need done on untouched parts of my skin, why would a business miss out on that?
If you want to be judged and not treated with professionalism, go elsewhere. vote with your dollars.

Wife and I were pleasantly surprised by how quick AND proficient Taste of Ink was. Standard wait time before actually starting, but we were kept apprised of situation. Our tats are exceptional! Thanks Trent & Crew!

So since my first post Trent has completed 5 tattoos on myself, and at least 6 on family members, 3 of these tattoos were cover-​ups. Trent is our PERMANENT Tattoo artist. Not only is his shop clean and professional but every artist he has working with him is exceptional in their field. Each and every Tattoo we have received has come with a consultation and recommendations each and every time the tattoo comes out better than expected. My opinion Trent and Taste of Ink Rocks. If you want a quality tattoo look no further.

I have several tattoos but for the first time ever I feel like I have an AWESOME one! This shop is great & I highly recommend going here for your next or first tattoo!

These guys are great. The shop is clean; artists are professional and friendly. Mac is currently working on a huge Japanese back piece on me, and it’s gorgeous, I can’t wait till my phoenix is finished. Check them out, you will not be disappointed.

Absolutely the friendliest tattoo shop I have ever been in! VERY CLEAN AND ORGANIZED!
I had printed out my artwork and –thought– I knew what I wanted but after consulting with Trent (the owner) he made a few suggestion about size and location of the tattoo and he was absolutely right. If he would have just done what I asked it would have been a small tattoo facing the wrong way. I am so happy he took the time to consult with me and give me his expert opinion on size and location… it did make all the difference in the outcome of my fabulous tattoo. This will be on my body forever so it is very important that it is done correctly. His expertise made my tattoo turn out fantastic! I am so excited to show it off.
He did fantastic line work and excellent shading. He is a professional with a great eye for ARTISTIC DETAILS.
Not only do I recommend Trent, I am going back for more tattoos and having him rework 2 tattoos I got from a –different– shop.
My husband is going in and getting a half sleeve from Trent in 2 days… We are so excited to see the finished tattoo… I will post photos…
I will be going back next week to get most of my upper arm covered by Trent.
Trent is now our permanent tattoo artist and I am sooooo glad to have found one I can trust!

I responded to an ad on craigslist from Trent, saying he was doing tattoos for $ 20/​hr just to cover supplies so he could get his portfolio built up. At the time, I wasn’t ready for a tattoo but my roommate was.
We all went in and watched him get the outline done for a massive owl tattoo. Aside from the linework being shaky in spots, it was pretty good. During the time it took our roommate to get this massive tattoo, the other artist, Michael, had still not finished doing a small tattoo of the Steelers symbol for a woman. He is clearly very new to tattooing (although so is Trent) and was asking a lot of questions about what needles to use and seemed to be figuring it all out still. This will be important later.
So for my wife’s bday our roommate decided to get her a tattoo from Trent a week later. Our roommate emailed Trent directly and set up an appointment. He attached a photo of her tattoo– which was done by a friend in another state who was an apprentice, so it’s kinda faded and imperfect– and told him what she wanted done to it. They set up an appointment and I went in with her.
When we walked in the shop, Trent and Michael said hello to us and Trent asked what she was getting. We had a flash drive with us because we used sharpies to color in the tattoo and add background and we wanted to show the pictures to him for reference. He pulled up the pictures and just seemed really uninterested. He said he could do it for $ 60 and Liz went to text our roommate, who was paying for it, to ask him if that was okay. During this time, Trent starts talking about how he really cut our roommate a deal on his tattoo and that it was like a $ 500 tattoo (maybe if you were an established artist…) and starts asking when he’s coming in to get the coloring done on his tattoo.
The thing is– it had only been a week since the outline was done and he told him to wait at least 2 weeks to let it heal so tattooing it again wouldn’t infect it. Over the past couple days he reiterated this to our roommate via email. But all the sudden, he wanted to know if he was ready to get tattooed again. Maybe this had something to do with the fact that the shop was totally dead and Michael said he hadn’t done a tattoo all day?
Then Trent sat down at his desk and said to Michael «Hey, can you do this girl’s tattoo for her? I’m just gonna keep drawing this flash.» Then he just started drawing. He didn’t bother to ask if my wife was okay with the other, less experienced artist doing her PERMANENT TATTOO. I said «You’re not going to do it?» and he said «Well, I just want to give him the chance to do it, you know what I mean?»
Michael comes over and starts looking at my wife’s arm and the tattoo and barely glances at the photos on the computer. He keeps asking her over and over what colors she wants to use and we both keep telling him the same colors that are in the photo on the computer, which he keeps ignoring. Then he says he can do the tattoo for $ 75.
That’s right, the less experienced artist is going to charge us MORE for the tattoo. He says this is because he has to pay Trent 50% of everything he gets. Which is NOT MY PROBLEM. You don’t get to raise the price of your tattoos to make up for the fact that you agreed to give the shop owner a large percentage of your profit.
I asked Michael if he had a portfolio and he started looking all around the shop, surprised. Trent says «Just show her some pictures on your cellphone or something.» Trent said something about him knowing what he was doing and I said that I just wanted to see his portfolio because it’s going to be PERMANENT on my wife’s body so she has the right to ask to see his work.
Eventually he pulled out an old tiny photo album with 3×5 photos in it (It’s all black work. No color. And it’s all very simple, solid shapes and stuff.) and said «I mean, I wouldn’t be working in a tattoo shop if I wasn’t any good.»
At this point I was really irritated so I said «Well, I think we all know that’s not true.» To which he replied «Well, yea, you could go down to Quicky’s and get some crappy ink but THIS is a good shop!» Very defensive. At this point, Trent says «Yea, she’s right about that man.»
RED FLAG PEOPLE. If an artist ever seems annoyed that you want to see examples of their work before they put it on your body, RUNNNNN AWAYYYY.
Our hesitation was met with more attitude.
Unilocal is cutting me off at this point, so I’ll sum it up– we were told that they’d be doing my wife «a favor» by fixing her tattoo. Trent tried to bargain with Michael, saying he didn’t have to do «any of that pink stuff» (a pink starburst background) and to just color it in for $ 40. When my wife told Trent she was confused why he wasn’t doing the tattoo, he said it wasn’t his style.
We left.
He texted our roommate later and said that it wasn’t personal, he just doesn’t fix other artists work. Which is funny because he didn’t say that when our roommate emailed him, or when we were in the shop.
