Wandered in killing time… walked out with a bag full of goodies I just didn’t expect. I could have walked out with two bags… three, maybe? What a lovely surprise, with the bonus of a super nice and helpful sales gal. It’s my new favorite shop. That says a lot since I’m not a big shopper. Clothes are quality, mostly linen/​cotton blends with surprising and interesting styling. Drop in. You won’t be mad. :-)

T Kennedy is a treasure! T (aka Tammis) has a great eye for style and buys unusual clothes that are well suited to Austin living – lots of linens and natural fabrics. She keeps the merchandise moving, so there is always something new. The prices are terrific for the quality of the clothes. And the staff will tell you honestly how something looks on you and talk you out of things you shouldn’t buy – and into things you should. Most of my favorite clothes are from TK and some things are 10 years old and still going strong. But as another reviewer noted, they don’t do refunds, just store credit. They usually make sure they tell new customers. Most of their customers are loyal like me, so store credit is fine. I definitely will be going back!

There comes a time in a woman’s life when wearing clothing that’s too tight, too short and too revealing looks and feels in apropos. But she still wants to look and feel great. Thank heaven for T. Kennedy! The owner, Tammis, has an eye for specialty lines that are both mature and stylish — you won’t find any stodgy «old lady» clothes here. Best yet, she chooses clothes in fabrics that are Austin-​appropriate: warm, balmy-​weather linens and cottons that can be layered during one of our rare cool snaps and that are also machine-​washable (you’re hard pressed to find an item that’s «dry clean only» at T. Kennedy). Sure, some of the individual pieces are a little on the spendy side. But check the ginormous sale room in back, and you’ll find a large selection of markdowns that are kinder to the pocketbook. Tammis and her sales team don’t give you the hard sell; on the contrary, she’s the first to suggest that perhaps another cut/​color might look better on you.
I’ve always been a staunch supporter of local businesses, and I’ve been giving mine to T. Kennedy ever since it was a teensy boutique on West Lynn. I initially worried that it wouldn’t pick up business once it moved to 12^th and Lamar, but almost every time I’ve gone in, the store has been packed with store regulars. Oh – don’t neglect the ten dollar bin. I’ve put together complete outfits for $ 30 or less.

I shopped at T Kennedy for the first time yesterday, April 14, 2012. The clothing is great and the staff very helpful.
I was very pleased to find clothing that was fun, bright and travel ready. And, these are clothes I can wear year ’round here in Austin!!! Just wish I’d bought that scarf I was thinking about. Hope it’s still there Monday!!!

T Kennedy has actually moved to a new address in the same shopping center as Crystal Works (north east corner of 12^th/​Lamar). I have been shopping at T Kennedy for over 10 years. What I like about the store is 1) I always find a piece of clothing that fits well, is unique and makes me feel good and 2) the owner gives her honest opinion and truly loves the items she finds for the store.
Over the years I’ve bought loads of flax clothing, skirts made out of recycled saris, and many jersey separates. She also has a nice selection of jewelry, all of which is reasonably priced. I have a necklace I bought in the 90s that still gets compliments and it only cost me $ 10 at the time.
Additionally, I continue to get compliments on a skirt I bought 3 – 4 years ago that is «Mexico-​inspired» and covered in silver sequins. She has an eye not only for the unique, but for the wearable. Like many women, my weight has fluctuated 40 lbs up and down over the past 10+ years, but it doesn’t matter whether I’m thin or on the chunky side, there is something at T Kennedy that makes me feel good about myself.
This is a wonderful store and I encourage anyone who hasn’t stopped by to check it out.
