Specialties

At Synergistic Singing, the Voice Studio of Chris Abdo, voice lessons focus on tangible, user-friendly exercises and tools that are custom fit for your voice. Voice Lessons at Synergistic Singing give answers to singers who may be wondering:

Can I learn to sing even if I can’t sing in tune?

Yes, that’s where I started! Anyone without serious health issues that would impact their voice can learn to sing. Most voice teachers already were able to match pitch when they first started singing, this has led to many myths about who can and cannot sing. My vision as a teacher is to give people who are true beginners clear, actionable exercises and instruction. I regularly see my students progress from not matching pitch, to matching pitch and beyond.

What voice training system am I suppose to follow to develop as a singer?

Systems are only useful if there is a clearly defined purpose for their existence! There are lots of vocal training systems and programs that promise vague results such as «singing better». In voice lessons we figure out the exact genres/styles/sounds you want to make, how far or close you are to those particular sounds, and then create a system, from scratch, to help get you there. Your vocal training system is unique, made up of only the exercises that work for you with ways to self-correct in your practice, for the genres you want to sing in.

Meet the Business Owner

Chris A.

Business Owner

I hold my B. A in Voice from the University of North Texas. I was a member of UNT’s A Capella Choir, ranked among the top five undergraduate choirs in the nation. I have worked with a range of vocal teachers from many backgrounds, from a metropolitan opera star to voice science academics to professional singer-songwriters. This breadth of experience and research over the last 11 years has enabled me to refine the art of teaching someone how to sing so that it is effective and feels good for the singer to do, no matter where they start. For me, seeing the joy on a student’s face when they are able to stay in tune for the first time, or hearing their excitement on the phone when they tell me they’ve won a $ 20,0000 college vocal scholarship, makes it easy for me to say that I really love what I do!
