South Branch Pet & Bird Clinic

I was planning on bringing my little cat buddy in for a check up on his birthday in a week but ended up having to bring him in tonight because of some scary blood tinged urine. I was able to schedule a same day appointment (their hours are really convenient btw) and the vet techs and Dr. Patel were really friendly. I got a thorough explanation what was going on and Dr. Patel even showed me my cat’s gram-​stain under the microscope. We were sent home with some cans of prescription cat food and medication and advised to feed my cat some cranberry flavored treats. All in all a great experience given the circumstances and my cat was totally comfortable and relaxed the whole time.

They always take care of my dog, either for health or boarding services they do an excellent job and their prices are very reasonable.

I appreciate how personal and personable the staff is at South Branch Pet and Birch Clinic. I acknowledge that everyone is making their best effort to make me and my pet feel safe and secure. The vet can be scary for the both of us, it can get uncomfortable. However, I always feel like I am taken cåare of best as possible. The veterinary advice and KD diet my cat was on has healed him over time. I was overjoyed to find this out in my last visit. All of the treatments I requested were provided. I am very happy with the Pet and Bird Clinic!

I love this place!!! Nothing negative to say and I have been coming here for about 4 years. Very friendly and never hesitate to offer coupons even when I forget it. Bring your pets, and be sure they will take good care of them.

Awesome vet with very convenient hours. The staff is excellent and welcoming. Will be bringing my dogs here from now on. Just wish we had found them sooner.
We took our dog in for when they were offering a discounted dental cleaning. Reasonably priced and there is plenty of parking.

I do NOT recommend this vet. While the front desk staff is very helpful and kind, the veterinarian (the one who is certified to do international health certificates) and the shop manager are BEYOND unhelpful, rude and dismissive. They do not follow USDA protocols, and blame you, the customer, for being «disruptive.» If a business offers a service, they should know how to fill out the paperwork correctly and not require the customer to navigate the ins and outs. When I do help (willingly), that particular vet and shop manager criticized me for taking up their time and «stressing their staff out». The front desk ladies repeatedly apologized for the vet’s rudeness, insinuating that he is very difficult.
I have wasted hours trying to get my dog’s paperwork two different times for international trips. The doctor/​manager claimed I was lying about new requirements, and only after many others came in for updated Mexico paperwork, they realized the requirements did change. And still never apologized for dismissing me and pushing me out the door to go elsewhere.
I will never return here.

When I first went to the clinic the staff were so nice & concerned about my pet. The doctor was very good on getting my pet the care he needed to get well. So with this being said, I would tell everyone that it’s a good place to take you pet. Derek Nesby

Prices are garbage. Tried seeing the vet twice for a follow-​up as per the vet’s request and he wasn’t there either time. I was charged $ 40+ for literally two pills on both occasions for a total of over $ 80 with never seeing the actual vet. When I did finally see the vet after various visits, he then proceeded to say very ignorant things about my dog’s bully breed, saying they all eventually turn on their owners. This made me feel very unwelcome and made me doubt that the vet had my dog’s best interest in mind when he suggested my dog needed sedation for his treatment. I will never give this sad excuse of a vet my business. If I could give a no-​star review, I would have.

I love this place. The staff is friendly and they treat your furry family like their own. It is priced way better than the competition, but does not lack the important things that make a good vet GREAT. Thank you for taking such good care of my baby.

I can’t say enough good things about this vet. I have had between 1 and 3 dogs for five years now and I’ve been to a lot of different vets and this one is by far the best. He’s always quick to recommend a home remedy to his clients. He’s not one of those vets that is always trying to up charge you for everything. He’s also great with my dogs, and provides excellent care.

When we first walked into South Branch Pet Clinic, I was a little put off because of the appearance, the waiting room was set up very strangely and it was not welcoming. It didn’t smell very good and was dingy. When we arrived for our appointment, the person at the desk asked «Wait, what is Wally here for again?» even though I had spoke to her 30 minutes prior to set up the appointment. I reminded her that we were there because Wally had been incessantly itching for a while and we were looking for a second opinion.
We waited in the waiting room for 40 minutes (our appointment was at 10:30am) and we were finally seen at 11:04am. When we entered the exam room, it was even worse than the waiting room, there were holes in the wall and looked gross. The vet tech came in to talk with us about Wally and then before he left stated, «Alright, I’ll go get the doctor and he will give Wally his allergy shot.» We responded, «What allergy shot?» And the vet tech quickly responded, «Oh, I’m sorry, I read that wrong, the doctor will be in shortly.» He was very apologetic the whole time about misspeaking about the shot.
A couple minutes later, a man who I assume was the veterinarian came in and shook mine and my husband’s hand but I’m not sure because he never introduced himself. He asked, «Does your dog have fleas?» I answered «No. He is on Trifexis.» He responded, «Is he on any flea prevention?» and I responded, «I just said that he is on Trifexis.» It seemed like the vet had no idea what he was doing as he was looking at Wally for fleas. After he finished pretty much just touching our dog and looking at him, he offered Wally a shot of Cortizone which he said would help ease the itching. We had done some research before going so we said that would be okay. He left the room to go get the shot and then when he returned, before he gave the shot, I asked, «what are the side effects of this shot?» He put the shot in Wally and then let us know he might be extra thirsty and hungry. I was so angry at this point because he gave Wally the shot before he let us know what to expect as side effects. Thankfully the appointment was over and we left the exam room to pay. We were waiting to pay and then the Vet came back out and said, «Wait, let me check him for mange.» At this point, I just wanted to get out and I knew that Wally did not have mange so I said, «He doesn’t have mange.» He quickly looked at him and said «No, he doesn’t have mange» … We paid and left and my husband and I looked at each other and vowed that we would never bring any pet of ours to South Branch Pet & Bird Clinic ever again. We were completely unhappy with our experience.

I love this place. They are super nice, the vets have always taken great care of my Bailey. I recently rescued another pit (and they have zero issues with the breed) but hadn’t yet gotten the certificate for rescue prices but the vet was great and «prescribed» home remedies and to deal with the itching and scratching from her severe sarcoptic mange before we started prescribing stuff as she’s already dealing with bad heartworms, and an enlarged heart.
I’ve previously had a blown out tendon replaced in Bailey’s knee for ¹⁄₃^rd the cost of others in town.
I tell everyone I meet with a pet about this office, gets no better.

Very basic — if you are looking for cheap service then come here. Used the online ‘coupons’ for discount. Came in to get my dog vaccinated and a dental examination, however after seeing the office we did want to turn around. The clinic is very basic, and dull and we were quite shocked by the standard of the examination rooms which were tiny, looked almost like a prison cell. HOWEVER if you can get past that, the vets were extremely nice and knowledgable.

I love this vet. OK, the office smells like dog pee, but the doctors, staff, service and care is great. I also love that they understand people are not made of money and don’t make you feel guilty for not buying ridiculous add on medical tests and services. They don’t promote unnecessary procedures or tests. They have taken wonderful care of our many pets, and they have late hours. Highly recommended.

I came here to get my pup spayed because they have coupons in the Austin Chronicle. I called first and they were very patient with me on the phone and answered all of my questions.
I dropped her off early in the morning and was able to pick her up at 4. I ended up paying about $ 120 for a spay and a couple vaccines. Later, my pup did end up licking her incision so it became infected but after calling and talking with someone I got a lot of great information and how to take care of it myself at home.
I would come back to this place.

The people at the front desk of this place are some of the most insensitive, trashy people i have met. They have no business being in this business. I put my dog down yesterday and their behavior was absolutely the worst way to approach someone after something so hard.
Dr.Patel and the vet tech that was with me (I wish I remembered her name) were great. You guys need to get new people in the front. They have no business dealing with the public.

Terrible! I went there because it was cheap, but I got what I paid for. Doctor was so quick he apparently couldn’t see my male dog was a boy and kept calling him a her. They charge a prescription fee so if you’re planning on going to an online retail for medication beware they will make you pay! I will never go back to this place again! I suggest you don’t either!!!

Had to take the pup in to be «fixed». Kinda emotional for me. The staff was very understanding of my trepidation, which I appreciated. The prices seemed more then fair.
