We recently relocated to Austin and my son was in the mood for something cold on a warm day, so we visited SnoLabs before they closed their food truck for the season.
We weren’t quite sure what we were getting into, but my son ordered the strawberry with rainbow sprinkles and chocolate sauce. The small was quite big, and we took joy in learning exactly what artisanal shaved ice cream is.
It has the consistency of shredded coconut but is light almost like cotton candy. The toppings and sauce give it some weight, but the flavor of the ice cream is very slight. It took a little time to get used to the varying textures.
A small is also plenty to share with a friend. It was an original idea that made after school snack on his first day pretty special.

I love this concept. Asian desserts are the best! Not too rich and heavy– Asian desserts are usually lighter tasting and not as sweet. Choose the flavor of shaved milk ice (all made in house) and add the toppings that you desire!
My combination: strawberry shaved ice, red bean paste and mochi toppings (the right Asian way to do it), with condensed milk to top it off. A great combo, but I wish the topping to shaved ice ratio was more!
Though a bit pricey, I’m glad I finally tried this place after seeing it next to bananarchy (difficult competition!). You do get a pretty large portion for the regular size though!

Well, this isn’t the first time I’ve had this type of «shaved ice» Teapioca Lounge also does it.
The serving sizes are huge but it’s also way more expensive. I do not like them as much at Teapioca.
I got the green tea with mochi, strawberries and caramel drizzle. I have nothing more to say. I wouldn’t seek this place out.

My husband and I accidentally came across this place when we went to try Tommy Want Wingy in the same food truck lot. My husband is lactose intolerant and this place offers a vegan option with coconut shaved ice for us to try together. We added two toppings– red beans and brownie bites. The textures is something I’ve never experienced before and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Now that we’ve discovered the place, I plan to go back for more since we live within walking distance.

I have never had something so unique and delicious for dessert. I have tried other places that serve shaved ice cream but none can compete with this place. It is so fresh and so good! You eat it and don’t get the feeling of being overly stuffed. It’s light and fluffiness is a true treat and I’m addicted.

This is a food truck located inside of a small parking lot called a food court. This is a new concept to me, I am from Miami and normally you have to chase the food trucks around town so I love that they are always in one location here!
We went during the week and there was no line or waiting. The service was fast and cordial which is all I ask for and anything above is just icing.
Anyhoo, I ordered a regular green tea with mochi and red beans and it was a very large portion. My hubby had an iced coffee which he loved and that is very rare for him to say, believe me!
The green tea shaved ice was creamy yet light and the flavors mixed well together. It was not overly sweet but delicious and refreshing. I gave it five stars for being unique. at least to me!
I can’t wait to return.
I spent $ 9 in total for a regular sized shaved ice with two toppings and one regular iced coffee.

This place is awesome! It’s a food truck in South Austin in sort of like a small plaza of a few food trucks. The snow is really fluffy and light and just melts in your mouth! I got the regular sized green tea flavor ice with strawberries and mochi for toppings as well as condensed milk drizzle. The ice had a good amount of green tea flavor and didn’t taste watered down at all. It made the perfect snack in the 100 degree Texas weather! They also have punch cards so you get the 12^th Sno free!

This is my favorite ice cream place in Austin! I have never tasted anything like it. This place is definitely worth a try. The ice cream is flaky with a lot flavor and they have different toppings. I think I am going to be a regular! You all need to check this place out!!!

dang! the serving was so much larger! Snolabs has gotten so much better since my last review. First of all, the portions are noticeably bigger so you can truly see the glorious fluffy ice ribbons. I got the regular and I am almost scared to see what the large looks like. During summer I am constantly craving sno ice! Today I got the blueberry with whipped cream, Oreos and chocolate drizzle. maybe my other ingredients drowned out The flavor of the blueberry but I couldn’t tell pick up the blueberry flavor. However, The texture has greatly improved and it’s definitely lighter and fluffier than my last review. Overall A+.

When I heard about this ice cream-​sno come mixture, I was hesitant to try it. But I had no need to be! It was absolutely delicious– light, feathery, refreshing– such an interesting texture! When you see how big the bowl is, you’ll be like «there’s no way I can eat all that» … But you can! My friend and I split one and then went back to buy another it was so good.
The original is great, so is the blueberry. You really have to savor each spoonful to taste the whole flavor. I would recommend getting caramel drizzled on top.
So yummy and refreshing– you don’t feel like you just ate a giant ice cream. We’ll be going back for sure.

We finally got a chance to try out their creations after hearing a lot about it from my work colleagues. We had the chance at the Food Trailer Tuesdays at the Long Center. Long lines but totally worth it. It’s a different experience compared to snow cones and ice cream. I can’t explain it but you have to try it.
I got the large original with Oreo bites, rainbow sprinkles, and chocolate drizzle. Very light and extremely delicious. I’ll definitely try it again.
The owner who happened to be at the truck gave my son a SnoLabs sticker which delighted him as much as the ice cream.

Definitely surprised to find out it was a food truck, but the sno was definitely worth the price! The regular size is big enough to feed two people. I got a regular sized strawberry sno with strawberries, mochi, and condensed milk drizzle. The sno was grated finely, and the service was great! The owner even offered us extra drizzle later on.

More delightful than ice cream, more delicious than snocones!
The price is right and the owners are the nicest. Thank you SnoLabs! We’ll be back tomorrow :)

I’m sooo glad that SnoLabs settled down in Austin!
It is really fresh and feels like having homemade ice cream. I’m a big fan of ice cream and kinda know that ice cream with natural ingredients always melts fast in room temperature and rarely be hard textured to make spiky ribbons or something. And SnoLabs’s Sno melts fast! (I like that they named it sno rather than shaved ice, which sounds very technical to me)
The super friendly guy inside this fancy silver truck explained that they use natural ingredients only and even let us try a couple of toppings before I actually make an order. I ended up having two and they were all EXCELLENT.
In terms of using natural ingredients and their attitudes to the business, I would say they are the next Chipotle in the shaved ice /​ice cream /​frozen yogurt market. Go SnoLabs!

Hmmm. Here’s what I like about SnoLabs:
1. The trailer itself is very cool.
2. The gentleman working the trailer is very cool.
3. If you live in South Austin, you now have your very own snow ice castle.
And to clarify here, when I say «snow ice,» I’m talking about those artistic ribbons of shaved frozen dairy-​based product. We’re not talking about finely shaved regular ice, or snow cones, or snow balls, or anything called «Hawaiian» something or another that winds up all syrupy.
Now having said all that, how can you not compare SnoLabs with Snow Monster? I’m a little less concerned with toppings & price differences, but more interested in the actual «ice cream lite» product itself. I tried two of SnoLab’s three flavors, and I think Snow Monster’s creamy milk & Matcha counterparts are simply better. Of course that’s subjective, and you may disagree. I didn’t try SnoLab’s blueberry snow ice.
But what really bothers me here is the presentation: I think the fun of snow ice is the «ooh» & «ahh» factor when you see it, or else what’s the point of artistic ribbons of frozen dairy product? I think you lose that sense of awe when it’s in a styrofoam cup covered with toppings. I get this may be the difference between a trailer and a brick & mortar venue. Whatevs.
So to each their own — if you’re a big fan of SnoLabs, I’m damn glad for you & happy to join you there. If we’re up on the north side — where we pretty much know the Asian is better anyway — let’s pop by their snow ice castle for a ribbon or two.

Came back here after seeing the trailer when I went to Bananarchy. Looked interesting, so of course I Unilocaled it! I was shocked to find that it was the type of shaved ice I had been semi-​halfway-​almost-​kind of looking around for. ‘Korean snow cones’ I believe, with the red beans, fruit, and mochi.
I ordered the green tea snow with rainbow sprinkles (my weakness), mochi, and drizzled with condensed milk. I absolutely loved it! Tasted great! And the ‘sno’ was the right consistency. Not too thick like ice cream and not crunchy like a snow cone.
The owner was really sweet! Extremely nice and accepted a credit card through an app on his phone (square maybe?). Original sno was 5.75, Blueberry for 6.25, and Green Tea for 6.75. Not bad pricing if you consider how much you get and the quality of the ingredients. You can definitely tell its fresh and quality stuff. He had a couple of items on the menu that were Vegan as well.
I would definitely absolutely go back. We already planned our next mixture of ingredients for next time! Yum!

Happened to order here mainly because we had ordered the Holy Schnikes wings from Tommy Want Wingy next door. I actually hesitated to order because the options were pretty limited compared to Snow Monster but I had a fiancé with a mouth on fire needing something creamy and cold.
You order whatever flavor «sno» + 2 toppings + 1 sauce drizzled
Green Tea Sno + brownie bites + red bean + condensed milk — I don’t know how they do it but however they shave their ice is right on. The green tea flavor was present and the ice melted nicely in the mouth. For our two toppings… not sure those two were a good combo together.
The main reason behind the 3 stars — The toppings were ok. I wish they offered more options. Also I hate to say I was spoiled by portion size at Snow Monster. The size is ok here but I think you get more bang for your buck at Snow Monster.

Perfect snack for my sweet tooth! The owner (s) are extremely friendly and be sure to get a stamp card.
You could share a cup with your significant other but after your first bite you’d regret not getting your own massive cup!
Just what the neighborhood needs in South Austin! Check it out.

This place gives Snow Monster a run for it’s money. I’m not saying Snow Monster is crap or horrible. But it’s nice there’s a similar place opened in South Austin and I don’t have to drive a long way to have my shaved snow fixed. Again eat it slow otherwise you will get brain freeze.
It’s located at the South Austin Trailer Park on Live Oak and South 1^st. There’s limited parking in their lot. If that’s filled you have to look for street parking.
The menu was easy to order from such as choose one flavor — original, blueberry or green tea, then choose two toppings — from fruits to nuts to granola and lastly choose a drizzle — carmel, chocolate, or condensed milk. It was a helpful guide.
They also have shaved snow for vegans — Kale-​Shew-​Nut and Super Acai Bowl.
I was able to speak with the owner of the trailer. He asked me how I liked my dessert. I told him I liked it. He said that uses fresh ingredients to make his shaved snow creations. What I ordered only costs my $ 5.75. This place has been opened for two weeks and yes you should go. No questions just go.
