Description

Specialties

«So happy to find this place. Left Austin in ’89.. . Les Amis was a favorite haunt. To find Snack Bar restores my faith in an Austin I thought was long gone.» ~ Snack Bar customer comment card

Snack Bar is diner meets coffeehouse meets wine bar meets casual fine dining… a comfortable, stylish place to relax, whether you are with friends, family, by yourself with a book/laptop, with your dog or with your partner. ENJOY!

History

Established in 2009.

So Close, Yet So Far Out

So Nostalgically Austin!

Built as an addition to the Austin Motel, this diner is rooted in old Austin. It has been a gathering spot for locals & tourists for nearly seven decades.

Karl & I moved here in 1988. We are also rooted in old Austin. Supporting everything local, embracing diversity & leaving a ‘green’ footprint is what Austin is all about. In 2009, with the help of the Motel, friends & family, we revitalized this old Austin diner.

Snack Bar is a gathering spot for locals & tourists. Our mission is to cultivate community & camaraderie by providing a truly hospitable environment — which not only includes welcoming everyone, but also paying livable wages & being green (it’s not easy); and serving accessible, ethical foods — being as affordable as possible while making most everything from scratch with local, organic, sustainable & always humanely raised ingredients (happy bacon or bust).

So drink a Jester King, google ‘Slacker’ & keep Austin authentic
