I moved to Austin in late 2012 and was due for a cleaning in early 2013. I came across Dr. Wooten based on a referral at my local primary care provider’s office. Dr. Wooten’s office is incredibly nice with spectacular corner office exam rooms of the UT campus. It was by far the nicest dental practice I’d ever stepped into and I quickly found out how they afforded all of that.
After a botched filling that led to a root canal I’ve taken incredibly good care of my teeth. My previous visits for the last 3 years at my dentist back in Houston were all perfect. 6 months later I’m sitting in Dr. Wooten’s chair being told I have 10 cavities! I was beyond floored and just couldn’t believe what I was hearing. They showed me all of these x-​rays that I couldn’t make head or tails of so I took the advice without booking the procedure and left.
A few weeks later I was referred to another dentist in the area and my suspicions were confirmed. It turns out I had just 1 cavity not 10. My new dentist couldn’t believe what I had told him.
Bottom line is Dr. Wooten’s office is prescribing and performing unnecessary dental work. You can’t afford a palace like he has without taking advantage of the patient. Stay away!

I’m a redhead. I’ve always had an aversion to going to the dentist, but it was only recently that I found out why I seem like a bigger baby about it than most other people. Have you seen the reports?

By the time I got around to seeing Dr. Wootton I was an adult who could only bring herself to go to the dentist about once every 5 years. Lucky for me I’ve got really good teeth, and I knew that I had to take good care of them if I wasn’t going to get regular care, but still. It was a bad scene.
I was a wreck, but everyone in this office cut me all the slack in the world. Kind, patient, supportive. I can’t abide anything vibrating in my mouth, so Holly does all the cleaning by hand and slowly, slowly. After the first couple of regular cleanings I had enough courage to let them replace an old, terrible filling. I was shaking and it was all I could do to sit there. I told Dr. Wootton I’d rather be shot at in Iraq than be having that filling replaced, and he just said he understood. They did a great job and managed my anxiety pretty well. I keep going back, so that says something.
I keep going back — and here is the kicker … I don’t even live in Texas anymore. I went back there when I lived overseas, when I lived in Washington, D.C., and now that I’m living in New Mexico. I’m moving to Oregon next month and guess who my dentist will be? That’s right, Dr. Wootton in Austin, Texas.
Do you have anxiety about going to the dentist? Then I strongly encourage you to give this office your business — be sure to let them know how you feel — and I predict they will treat you right.

Staff is excellent, equipment is state of the art, and location is convenient for anyone who works in downtown. I’ve been here at least 8 times for general cleanings and fillings and have always come away more than pleased. Tip: if you want to park for free, park across the street from the garage in front of the apartments.

My husband and I both had exams and cleanings here. Between the two of us, it was suggested that we have 14 teeth worked on (fillings and a crown). It was going to be very costly for us (even with insurance).
We decided to get a second opinion, since our previous dentist (in Colorado), said our teeth were in great shape. Using the x-​rays that were taken at Dr. Wootten’s office, the new dentist recommended ONE filling, TOTAL.
To be fair, the new dentist did say that he would like to keep an eye on a few teeth. He was very diplomatic and mentioned that dentists have varying philosophies, and Dr. Wootten was not necessarily wrong in this case, but he was just taking a different (I would say more aggressive) approach.
Needless to say, we didn’t return to Dr. Wootten.

For the past few years my dad kept telling me I needed to go to HIS dentist… well first of all I was on the HMO dental group for the school district, I had to go to the cheap scary dentists that were no good… so this year I paid more out of pocket to be able to pick my own, better dentist and finally called Dr. Wootton’s office. I’m glad I did. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful and they are willing to work with you if you don’t think something is right in the billing department (now if I can find my old pricing sheet they gave me).
The whole staff, not just oral hygienist and dentist, are good at keeping you calm and relaxed. Even if you feel some pain and discomfort during the procedure, Dr. Wootton will stop and figure out a different way to do it so it’s less discomforting (I have a small mouth and he had to non-​surgically pull a wisdom tooth out). 2 wisdom teeth out so far and no pain, eating normal food within a day or two. It’s been great (I’ve been able to have the teeth after sterilization. Great for the classroom).
Dr. Kim is no longer there so don’t go looking for him. Apparently he took his vibrating gum numbing thing with him because they don’t use it on me.
My dad was right. I should have come to these guys sooner!

Even though I was getting something not-​so-​fun done (fillings and crown), Dr. Kim and Nelda made me feel extremely comfortable with their friendly and comforting demeanors. The office was well decorated, clean, and comfortable, and I had a much more relaxing dental experience than the ones I have had in the past! I would recommend Dr. Kim to anyone looking for a dentist here in Austin. He even called me later that day to check in and see how I was doing after the appointment. Highly recommend Dr. Kim to anyone looking for a long term dentist in the Austin area.

I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed my dentist and his staff! I’ve been coming to see Dr. Wootton and his staff for about seven years now. The staff currently are, and have always been, extremely nice, competent, friendly, and easy to work with. Even though my husband and I only see them about twice a year for regular check-​ups, they all remember what we talked about last time («Are you both doing anything this summer? Last year y’all went to [blank]!») and are really the best medical staff I’ve ever dealt with. Dr. Wootton is thorough and patient. I usually don’t have problems at my check-​ups, but the one time I did, Dr. Wootton took care of it with ease. I met Dr. Kim on my most recent visit and he was very nice. I recommend all my friends here, and I wouldn’t see another dentist in Austin.

I was so spoiled by the family dentist I went to from the time I had teeth until I graduated from college. For years, I have been searching for a dental office that exhibited the same professionalism, rganization, cleanliness, and friendliness as that office. I have finally found that in Dr. Wootten’s office! The dentist himself is nice enough, and seems to know what he’s doing, but since I don’t ever need work done, I’m not much concerned with the dentist. My measure of a good dental practice is the hygienists, and the ones here are excellent! They are professional, thorough, and pleasant, and they really take the time to share their knowledge with the patient. My husband and I will be going to this practice for years!

I freaking LOVE this office!!!
I had an ongoing oral infection that we were trying to resolve. The office manager/​coordinator actually called me to check on me to see how the antibiotic was working. How thoughtful was that??? Every single time I’ve had an appointment with this office, I’ve had nothing but great, personable, and friendly service. I would even *gasp* use them out of network with my insurance! I like them that much! Professionalism goes a long way these days. Highly recommend this office if you need a great dentist.

I have only ever had ultra friendly exchanges with the office staff. They are always so nice when they greet you… by name… every time! Pat, my hygienist, is always friendly, professional, and calm. I always ask her each visit whether my teeth look awful and she very gently says no, and that I have the normal findings that she sees in almost all her clients.
Dr. Wootton, wow, what a consummate professional. Has excellent, friendly, calm chair-​side manners. I find him to be friendly, knowledgeable, GENTLE, and calm. Whenever he has had to numb my gums, he swabs the bejesus out of it. Some dentists will only give it a couple of perfunctory swabs, hardly wait any time before going to work in your mouth. Dr. Wootton swabs til he feels the numbing med has soaked in before working on you. I really appreciate that. His calm demeanor will keep me coming back… EVEN OUT OF NETWORK.

Great dentist and staff. I’ve been to a few dentist looking for someplace I was comfortable with. I finally found it here.
I don’t feel I’m that I’m being scammed about what needs to be done. Yes, they did offer the oral cancer screening but it isn’t a hard sell. He goes over what needs to be done and doesn’t rush into doing something if it isn’t necessary. You leave knowing what needs to be done and can plan how and when without being pressured.

Best dentist I’ve ever been to!
The facilities are clean and modern. All of the staff were very friendly. On your first visit, Dr. Wootton will actually take the time to talk about the health of your teeth and explain everything in detail. He didn’t rush through my visit and answered all of my questions. The cleaning itself was great and when I went back to have a filling done (yes, I know), it was painless and quick. Everything was covered by my insurance but I wanted to add that it’s pretty pricey if you don’t have insurance. I was hoping my husband would join me there (he didn’t have dental insurance at the time), but after hearing the non-​insurance rates, I remember thinking it was too expensive for him to come. Other than that, if you’re looking for a dentist in the Austin area, I highly recommend Dr. Wootton!

Dr. Wootton is definitely on of the best dentist I have ever had. The facilities are excellent, the staff very professional and knowledgeable, and Dr. Wootton, well, he’s simply amazing.
I’ve had several dentists from moving through different states in the last 5 years. I also had orthodontic work done in my teens so I am confident in my ability to spot a good dentist.
My experiences have so far done nothing but exceed my expectations. I highly recommend Dr. Wootton and his staff to take care of one of your most precious features. ;)

Dr. Wootton knows teeth! And so do all his Dental Hygienists. I was referred to Dr. Wootton by not one, not two, but three of my friends and co-​workers! So, I decided to give him a try.
As soon as I walked into his office, I was already comforted. The waiting area is cozy with nice, leather couches, and a sweet little snack bar with bottled water, coffee, and various granola bars. The receptionist was friendly, and I didn’t need to wait long before I was called in.
My first visit was a little long (around 2 hours total), but that was because they had to take x-​rays of my teeth, get a patient history established, and also clean my teeth. Every subsequent teeth-​cleaning visit was only about 30 minutes. Dr. Wootton and his staff are all smart, knowledgeable, and friendly. They treat everyone with respect and sincerity, and they won’t judge you by your teeth! Dr. Wootton is also very up-​front about the costs for any procedures that might be needed, and he doesn’t pressure you to make a decision until you’re comfortable with it.
All that great service, and you also get a nice little dental-​hygiene goodie-​bag when you leave. Every time I’ve returned, the staff seem to remember me and will also ask about how my family is doing (yup, I referred my husband to them!).
The whole office just moved to a new office space, so now, all their equipment is new and with state-​of-​the-​art technology. There’s still a home-​y feel though, so it’s not scary or sterile feeling. I know they take Humana and Delta Dental Insurance, as those are the two different ones I’ve been covered with.
If you’re looking for a great dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Wootton!

I picked this dentist simply because he was on my insurance. I hate the dentist. I’ve procrastinated for 4 years to find a new dentist.
Overall, I am very happy with this place. The appointment started exactly on time and when they told me it would take 1 ½ hours — it took 1 ½ hours! So I was able to get back to work on time.
Maybe they see kids, I don’t know, but I especially liked it that it wasn’t full of screaming crying children!
The staff is very professional and nice. The dental hygienist was very informative, educated me about how to clean better, etc.
Dr Wootton was completely professional, but also easy-​going and calm. I really liked how we went over the xrays together and he showed me what he was looking for. When he pointed out a starting cavitiy, he indicated it on the xray.
I don’t give it 5 stars because :
1. Shoot — it’s the dentist, how I can love it?!?
2. I was a little annoyed when they tried to «sell» me this new oral cancer screening that is not covered by insurance.
But I otherwise would highly recommend this place.
