Jenna Harrington is the best! I followed her from The Haircut Store to Ricky Hodge Salon. Sometimes I show her a picture of what I want, sometimes I just give her a general idea of what I have in mind, and she always creates the look masterfully. I always leave the salon with 100% satisfaction.
Honestly, it makes me feel sad that guy haircuts are not complex enough for her skills and I’m not using her full potential.
Recommended without a doubt.

Jenna Harrington has the ability to truly create whatever vision I have. Whether it’s a great haircut for curly/​wavy hair, creating the perfect platinum, succesful custom colors such as lilac and even did a stellar job on some challenging victory rolls.
She’s a hair artist, not a hair stylist. You must go to her!

After I decided to grow up and stop going to Bird’s, I searched for about a year for a proper salon/​stylist. A few missteps later, I decided to try Ricky Hodge Salon, and I’m here to stay.
It’s my favorite to just sit down and say, «Eh, I want it shorter and I want a versatile cut, but I trust you to make me look good.» Ricky and Jenna deliver every time, giving me a range of cuts from classic to edgy. And, unlike barber haircuts I’ve received, these cuts still look great well past the third month.
Ricky is super committed to making sure his clients look their best. I recently decided to go from my natural brown to gray. Ricky did the first session for about three hours, and while I was satisfied with the platinum blond we achieved, he had me come in a week later to finish the job to go truly gray, and he didn’t charge me for the second session! It was better than I could have hoped.
Bottom line, the customer service I’ve received here has been amazing. I’m a promoter, 110%.

Ricky Hodge has been cutting and styling my hair for approximately three years. He is a true artist and extremely talented. I willingly drive an hour to my appointments with him. Friends, family and strangers compliment me on my hair. While I waited in a lobby, a man walked by and commented, «That’s a great haircut.» A woman even asked if she could take a picture of my cut saying it was «sassy»! I have not been disappointed yet by this charming, gracious gentleman.

I used to go to RH Salon when I lived closer to downtown, and now that I live up North, I STILL make the drive to see Mel and get my hair done every few months. She’s just that good! When I was a blonde, Ricky took care of my hair and did a fantastic job. I’m a natural brunette but you never would have known. Mel has done my hair ever since I went back to brown, then to ombré, then to slightly blonde again, back to dark brown, and now we’re going red! They have always left my hair looking better than when I walked in and have always given me exactly what I wanted. Plus, the entire staff is so friendly and I love the open atmosphere. I recommend this salon whenever I get the chance.

I had the pleasure of sitting in Ricky Hodge’s chair a little over a month ago. I went to him with no real plan and he patienty consultated with me an easy no fuss hair color and do! I needed color correction from very outgrown roots and pass hair dye jobs. He did three different color jobs for each section of my hair and blended it all so beautifully. I also got a trim and I told him I was sure I needed to chop off a bit and his reply was I like long hair I’ll make sure I only chop a bit! He is so proud and supportive of all his staff and has really worked hard at building a great brand! I am brunette and he worked some beautiful caramel colors into my dark hair to brighten it up! It was very natural and his blow out was amazing! I walked out of there feeling awesome!

Ricky hodge salon has a beautiful staff, and a warm welcoming environment. This wonderful collection of talented colorists and stylists quickly greet you when you enter the door. Michelle Vance, my colorist and stylist is no stranger to me. What first amazed me about Michelle is her genuine ability to connect with her clients. Michelle had met me me months ago through a mutual friend, and upon seeing her again she greeted with me an authentic smile and hug as if we were long lost friends. Her cheerful demeanor makes every appointment an exciting occasion. Michelle’s bright personality is only one part of what makes her so great. I was honored enough to be chosen as her hair model, and through our months together I was able to see her passions come to life. She is a bold artist with a keen eye for color and detail. It was magnificent to see her work and glow with pride. Her color knowledge is superb, and she leaves your hair vibrant. Michelle’s work is unique for each client because she understands the delicate interplay between color/​cut and an individuals’ features. After every appointment, Michelle Vance gives me vibrant beautiful color, a hip new style and a big ‘ol smile.

Michele did an incredible job on cutting my very drab and dull long hair into a chic, just a bit longer than mid-​length style. She did exactly what I asked for and more, in addition to giving me the good suggestion of looking into a water filter for my shower head instead of buying new shampoo/​condition/​styling products. I love the way my hair turned out and am fortunate that the salon is steps away from my apartment. Michelle was very professional, courteous, extremely knowledgeable, and it was fun to chat with her. The salon is small but elegant, open, and light-​filled. I am definitely coming back!

I love Ricky Hodge Salon. I had my hair ruined at a very successful high end salon/​spa in town and Ricky Hodge took the time to consult with me and see where we needed to go to repair my hair. My hair looked awesome the first time he touched it and after 1 ½ years, my hair is awesome and everyone asks me where I get my hair done. His salon is fun yet professional and I love Ricky! My son is 9 and he gets his hair cut in the salon as well.

Blonde Beware.
Ricky’s ego far exceeds his expertise. First off, I was not greeted by the receptionist when I entered the salon which created an uncomfortable environment for me as a client. Being an «expert colorist», I assumed Ricky could easily match the hair color in the photos I showed him as I am a natural blonde. My hair ended up being a brassy, chicken fat yellow rather than the cool, ashy blonde I had requested. In addition, Ricky tried to upgrade my services without even asking me, which would have been an additional $ 65.00. Also, if you don’t want to leave with wet hair you have to pay an additional $ 50.00 for a blowout on top of the whopping $ 200 I paid for a partial highlight. Pure insanity! When I approached Ricky regarding my dissatisfaction, he refused to reimburse me and instead requested that I come back in the same boorish salon environment for a re-​do. After I declined to come in, I mentioned I had already scheduled another appointment with a competing salon to fix the mess he created. He then became erratic to the point that he told me he’d think about reimbursing me, then hung up. He called back a few hours later, apologizing for his behavior and said that the only way he’d reimburse me is if he had a chance to fix it. I felt uncomfortable the first time I sat in his chair, I certainly wasn’t up for round 2. The most disappointing thing from this entire experience was that Ricky wouldn’t even own up to his mistake and acted completely unprofessional. $ 320.00 later, I wouldn’t recommend him to my worst enemy.

If you want to look and feel ten years younger, look better in your clothes and have more confidence, before considering botox or having your teeth whitened… let Ricky Hodge give you a new hairstyle. He cuts with great precision and detail and it’s very clear that this man has a passion to make people fabulous.

My experience at Ricky Hodge Salon was seamless and blissful. The décor is chic and ornate. The staff is attentive and you can tell they are happy to be at work and they are passionate about what they do! (I have been to far too many salons that herd you in and out in a rush and make you feel like they’re working on a task instead of valuing the relationships that are built while we are in the chairs. This place is refreshingly the opposite of that.) I went into the salon for highlights. Spenser did the balayage technique and painted on the highlights as opposed to using foils. After he did my shampoo he used a moisturizing color glaze. The result was amazing! My blonde highlights were the most perfect shade of champagne that glowed against my suntan. It looks so natural! I have had countless people ask me if this is my natural hair color. I wish I could say it was, but since it isn’t i’ll just keep going back to Ricky Hodge Salon to see Spenser!

Quality blonde highlights, stylish salon, runs on-​time, great price! I moved from LA and this is the best colorist in Austin. Ricky is consistently awesome and he’s an expert at golden and platinum blondes. And I no longer have to go back to LA to get my roots done. :)

I had a very nice experience.
First off, the parking around the salon is a bit of a pain, as they only have street parking available. That was a bit of a bummer. Parallel parking is not my thing, so I had to do some searching for a spot I was comfortable with.
The salon itself is relatively small, but airy. They have iced water and macaroons for the patrons, which is a nice touch. They also offer various beverages (including wine, I think). The equipment is not top-​of-​the-​line, but everything is clean and well-​maintained.
Vanessa did my keratin treatment. She was very professional, efficient, and easy-​going. I would come back in a pinch, if they weren’t located so far out of my way.
Overall, a very positive, welcoming, low-​key atmosphere make it a definite winner.

Love this salon!!! As soon as I walked in the receptionist greeted me and offered me a drink. I felt rift at home! The salon has a lot of natural light coming in which allows you to see how your hair will actually look during the day (unlike other salons). I got my hair color and cut by Michelle Vance. She is a total pro! Michelle is also a Goldwell educator so you know you are going to get the best most up to date looks you desire when you get your hair done by her!

After moving to Austin I was in search of a salon. Several of my coworkers see Ricky so I decided I would give him a shot.
Ricky is fabulous! He is very talented and knows his stuff! He is a blonde expert! He always brings out the natural blonde colors in my hair and makes them shine!
I have also seen Mel and she is great as well! She is friendly, but most importantly, she does a great job on my hair!!!

I followed Christina here from Green Alley and I am so glad that I did. Back in April she gave me the sweetest bangs, but I’m a fickle girl and decided to grow them out. I have never seen anyone gracefully grow out their bangs, but the cut she gave me yesterday has changed my worldview completely. My blunt bangs were overgrown and mangy but now I have delicious swoopy bangs that look fantastic and I know will still look great as they grow out.
I also really liked how she colored my hair. She put in some highlights to blend in my year-​old highlight job and toned the brassy gold WAY down. She taught me how to curl my hair with a flat iron and before I knew it I was perfectly coifed and resolving to schedule a date-​night straight away after I see her next time instead of heading off to the gym!

I moved to Austin from the NYC area four years ago and did what every gal does when they move somewhere new… spent lots of money trial and error style trying to find the right hairstylist. My gal back home knew exactly what to do every time and I always left feeling fabulous. It’s really hard losing that comfort when moving far away!
Thankfully, in December 2010, I received a tip from a trusted source on the magnificence that IS… Ricky Hodge. What is the ONE thing on your entire vessel that you must pay attention to on a daily basis in order to feel and look your best??? YOUR DAMN HAIR! Well you know then that when you get a bad haircut, it makes the time before the next haircut a hell and you start to give up and the frustration levels, at least for me, take over and I hate it! With Ricky’s cuts, my hair takes WAY less time to maintain and it looks good no matter what I do to it. This is why I have Ricky in my life now and I’ll never stray. He’s also deliciously dashing, sassy, AND witty as hell which adds to the fun when you’re sitting in his chair!
