Platinum Southside

This is not the place to live when you just got marrried! There is never any parking. If there is you have to park on the other side of the complex so you get a workout after a long day of work walking to your place. My upstairs neighbors are always blasting bass all hours of the day and weve complained about it, but I guess the kid doesnt care as it seems he stomps around to make extra noise! I dont have any problem with the management however they are all really nice! Im just done with the apartment life period!

I love Platinum Southside! The apartment itself is awesome. Fairly new fixtures, great layout, lots of cabinet & storage space in the kitchen & throughout the apt. & don’t even get me started on my walk-​in master closet. It is truly masterful. The pool is nice & big with plenty of chairs/​seating available. I love that the pool is the center of the complex; its close to my unit, so I can go back and fourth fairly easily when grilling out, etc. The people are friendly at the community, both my neighbors & ppl who work in the office.
I took a star off bc parking is tough; there aren’t many spots, & I realize there’s not much the complex can really do about that. My issue is with a row of spots at the front entrance (where I live) that are FAR too tight for even my small sedan. My new car actually received its first door ding shortly after moving in here. I can’t say for certain it happened at the complex, but the spaces are so tight I can hardly get out of my car door bc I have to park so close to the car next to me. I would rather have one less space In that prime area, than have to worry about door dings & trying to get out of my car. My other issue is that maintenance didn’t follow through on completing all issues I noted upon first moving in. I dealt with some of the issues myself, but it was an expense at lowes & my own time. Overall however, I feel very positive toward the complex & would absolutely recommend my friends to live here!

We have enjoyed living at platinum Southside and have renewed our lease for another year. The staff is very friendly and helpful and it is an ideal location to live. Cant wait for the upgrades to the property!

I have been at Platinum for almost a year now and I can honestly say that for the most part t has been a positive experience. This was the first apartment I’ve ever look at where the pictures online is almost exactly what you get upon your move in. Any issues that I’ve had, whether maintenance wise or something else it has always been resolved fairly quick & efficiently. All of the workers that I’ve come across have been friendly & professional. Even with the recent change in management from Gables to Alliance, I personally haven’t any major issues with anyone. Occasionally, I’ll hear «loud» noise, but I chalk that up to me being on the first floor. It’s never loud enough to the point I feel the need to complain. Which is a GREAT step up from my last apartment complex.
Compared to places in Austin similar to Platinum, I’d say rent wise it’s pretty decent. I don’t have a problem per se with the $ 1.95 to pay rent online or even now with valet trash not being included as it was before with the rent price. But I guess I can see why others would be «upset.» Personally, I plan for these type of things in my budget so it’s not that big of a deal. I’m sure everyone would LOVE to live in a rent free world lol, but unfortunately it’s not a reality so it’s either pay or you move elsewhere!
Very convenient location. It’s across from a grocery store, a few fast food places, movie theater and other really good restaurants. It’s also in a pretty convenient location from the bus stop (it’s about an 8 – 10 min. walk from the 801 and the 1 routes), where it takes you to SoCo, Downtown or up to North Austin. I’m looking forward to continuing my stay here and seeing how year 2 unfolds.

Needs more parking.

The rent is very reasonable and we love our apartment. Just wish there was a jacuzzi!

Don’t rent here if you ever want to park near your apartment. There’s more tenants than spaces. Constantly having to deal with loud neighbors that management never does anything about and there’s been several times that I will have notes on my door only to find out that the notes were intended for a different apartment! They can’t even get apartment numbers right! It’s depressing to think that I still have 9 months on my lease at this awful complex. Trashy neighbors… so dissapointed.

Where to even start, almost everything from the start of signing a lease with this complex has been pleasant. I am a current resident and just signed to continue living here. The apartment interior is nice and honestly affordable for living anywhere even relatively close to downtown. It does have a college like atmosphere to it but I am a 25 year old college student so I can appreciate that. The management and front desk people are so helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Three things that I can’t honestly say I have ever found in another complex.
First off, the front desk ladies are awesome. In particular, Priscilla and Veronica as well as the others but I only remember those 2 names. Recently, I had an issue with the tow truck company coming in and blocking my car when I was trying to leave which led in to the most unreal argument I have ever gotten in to with a tow truck employee for not even being a vehicle being towed. The next day I called to file a complaint and Priscilla not only instantly called and talked to the tow truck management about the incident she called me within the hour and let me know about the actions being taken to fix it.
Veronica, has been my go-​to from signing the lease to bringing up problems and repairs. She is always timely with her emails and so helpful and friendly every time I talk to her. Additionally, the very few repairs I have needed have been taken care of quickly and efficiently. I even complained about my dog getting fleas constantly for a small period of time and the entire complex was treated and problem was solved.
If the front desk ladies are reading this… I love yall, you’re the best I have dealt with in my apartment living.
On a side note…
The car break in’s are a real thing, but honestly I am not going to place any blame on the apartments these can literally occur in any apartment complex and the last thing I want is for them to have cops patrolling my complex all day and night.
All-​in-​all just a great experience, hence re-​signing to continue living there.

My car was literally stolen five feet away from the leasing office. I pay too much money to live in an area that has no security. First and foremost there are no cameras what’s so ever. The gate door which usually requires you to swipe in order to enter is broken and has been that way for almost four months now. I’ve seen homeless people literally walk into the complex and sleep next to the soda machines.
The place went to shit when gables sold it to alliance. They started charging crazy fees when paying online, trash used to be included in rent but now they make you pay extra. The gym has had their weights stolen twice now.
The type of people moving in is not what it used to be. I’ve walked in to frat parties going on at the pool and the safety rules are ignored and not put into force.

It’s an apartment

Prior to January 2015 this was a Gables owned property and it was awesome. Friendly staff that enforced the rules and attentive maintenance staff that fixed most issues within 24 hours of reporting it.
That was then, this is now. The complex was bought by Alliance. They only care about taking as much money from you as possible. They are a conglomerate that buys complexes in order to turn a profit. Look them up online and see the reviews yourself. The office staff is rude. Maintenance will get to you «sometime in the next week».They enforce no rules. The quality of people moving here has gone way down. For 3 years we’ve had no issues. Over the last 3 months it’s been a nightmare. Loud music and patio parties go on until 4am with no backlash. Cars get broken into almost weekly. There was an armed robbery of an apartment a few weeks ago. We’ve had to call 911 multiple times from couples fighting in the halls. The weight limit for dogs is no longer enforced. It’s a fun time when your upstairs neighbor has 2 50 pound dogs that fight constantly on hard-​wood floors. People let their 60 pound aggressive dogs run around with no leash. No one picks up their dog’s poop. Most of the gates are don’t work so it’s a pain to get in and out of the complex during commuting hours. Alliance also charges you a $ 35 «convenience» fee to pay your rent online. These apartments are WAY over-​priced for what you get. If you are looking for apartments in this area, there are much better places to live. If you want to pay $ 1200 a month for a 1 bedroom apartment next to 6 frat houses, you can always move off the UT Drag.

This has got to be the cheapest apartment in south Austin. In a bad way. Management refuses to fix a pipe problem that causes a constant loud banging noise whenever water is running in my apartment. If I shower at night I wake up to the noise in the morning. If I want to get rid of the noise I’m going to have to pay them more money to move apartments or break my lease.
My car has been broken into twice in 10 months. I hear of break-​ins pretty frequently. Not to mention there are cops here on a regular basis. No emails are ever sent out to inform the complex. We do get consistent emails about the «pool noise» .but never any regarding the people having sex in the pool. Weird.
If you’re over 21 you probably should look elsewhere. When school is in session this place is taken over by 20-​somethings (coming from a 20 something). There are not enough parking spots august-​May. I have had to park at neighboring businesses a few times.
Management is a JOKE. I read that in a review before I decided to move in and figured it couldn’t be that bad. No, it is.
Look elsewhere.

I lived at Platinum Southside for a full 18 months, so I got to know the property pretty well. From the start, PS made a great impression — the units are spacious, modern, and offer stainless steel appliances, a full-​sized in-​unit washer and dryer (love!) and access to the gorgeous pool and small-​but-​decent fitness center. Parking is free, but you can upgrade to carport or garage parking to help offset the cruel Texas summers (highly recommended, as the hail storms can also prove intense).
The maintenance staff is the best — seriously, they’re so friendly and professional, and are quick to address your service requests. Bonus: you can book maintenance requests online!
The leasing agents and support staff are also quite helpful — the management office keeps longer hours than most apartment complexes I’ve lived in, and they’re fast on email too (my preferred form of communication).
My only gripes: the cost of rent is a bit high for the area (almost 5 miles south of downtown, in an area completely dominated by chains such as Jimmy John’s, Chipotle and Krispy Kreme) and they will attempt to raise your rent somewhat aggressively… the good news is (as with most things in life) that they do factor in room to negotiate (I did and so should you). Also, the apartment complex is somewhat overrun with college students so don’t be surprised if after hour shenanigans wake you up at 4am on a Tuesday… 8 times in two months. The process for reporting noise disturbances could use some work, as it results in being up for the long haul — you have to call into a pager # and then wait for security to call you back. At times, that takes 15 minutes or more… and it’s not fun being re-​awoken at 4:30am!
When you move out, make sure to take every last morsel of your personal belongings… otherwise, be prepared to pay a nominal fee for something like ‘hanger removal’ from a closet. Sheesh! In summary, a reasonably satisfactory experience in a very handsome property.

Fuck the management! People who still live there Be Extremely carefully with the carpet If you see any «waves» on it before you move in or traffic marks write it down in your contract because when you move out they will charge for the waves! At least $ 200 That’s fucking insane either with the traffic marks!

Where do I begin? The management is rude and COMPLETELY incompetent. They are nazis about what time you can put out the trash. They are also bad about entering the apartments without leaving a note, which is illegal. (My experience is that they like to snoop: no reason for entering, no note left.) Don’t expect them to notify you about packages you’ve received.
The apartments don’t seem very energy efficient. Our energy bill is expensive, and I can hear every noise outside. I can also hear my next door neighbors having sex and the music my downstairs neighbors like to blast at 2 am. Their music even causes our floors to vibrate.
Parking is TERRIBLE through most of the complex. I can vouch for the validity of the previous review as we do only have one visitor parking pass. It’s a real pain to have anyone over so forget hosting company. And we did receive an email that parking would be limited for visitors during SXSW so honestly, the first review sounds bogus.
Furthermore, the access gates are always broken. Right now, several of the gates are inaccessible for «security reasons». If someone wanted to drive in, they could follow someone through the open gates, especially since those gates are experiencing such heavy traffic now. Like I said, management is incompetent. AND the gates never work. We were told by management when we moved in that the gates don’t have enough memory for all the clickers they’ve issued to residents and so many have to tailgate other residents into the complex just to get home.
The apartments are nice and I do like the maintenance team but I’ll be moving once my lease is up.
By the way, what happened to the reviews that were here last summer? Seems fishy.

Do not listen to the review posted previously. That is NOT REAL! I wouldn’t be surprised if that was written by the management there (especially since during SXSW, email were sent out warning that only one extra parking permit would be given to each apartment). I have been living here for the past year and this is possibly the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. The management is HORRIBLE. They treat the tenants like crap while they themselves are extremely rude and incompetent. The retention rate here is horrible because everything is so awful and we pay so much money for these overpriced apartments. It’s such a shame that the management is so terrible because they really are nice apartments on a nice property with good maintenance men, but that’s about the only nice thing I can say about this place. Apart from always being treated rudely by the desk workers, don’t expect living here to be a walk in the park. The apartment complex takes absolutely no responsibility for anything that goes on here and lays any and all blame on the tenants. For this reason, you MUST pay renters insurance so the apartment complex can cover themselves for anything that goes wrong, even if it is out of your control and most options to not even cover your personal belongings, just anything that belongs to the complex. Do not expect to ever have people over, especially if you have a roommate since each apartment is only given one parking permit with the lease; you have to pay for the rest and you only have one visitors permit. Visitors parking is pretty much nonexistent. Tow trucks are constantly on the property and will tow you, as they have to my friends and the many people I see being towed away every week. I am trying to renew my lease and am forced to negotiate new terms which is ridiculous, not to mention the fact that if we decide to stay here that will are trying to be forced to live here for several extra months. They threw in new legal components that were not made clear when we first signed the lease, even when we TOLD them explicitly that we were going to renew the lease later. Now they are trying to make us pay more, take away our parking spots, and sign for longer than we want because they have to meet some quota we were never made aware of. They are completely inconsiderate and only care about making money. They care nothing for the tenants who are paying customers and pay a lot to live in a nice apartment complex. Do not live here. You will be happy you didn’t…
They are very nice when they are trying to get you to sign a lease but please don’t be fooled. You will never experience that kind of service or treatment again, just as we and many of the other people that I have spoken to have experienced. Too many people here that I have talked to hate this complex and can’t wait to move out.

When you’re driving in band van for 15 hours and your friend offers you a resting place at a splendid apartment home located in the Platinum Southside, you hit the jackpot!
What a lovely property that offers up fantastic customer service! We arrived early in the morning and the leasing office happily greeted me with a key that my friend left for us and offered us direction and coffee too. We drove through the immaculately kept property and smiled as we rested up in the spacious and beautiful apartment. Um, how big is that walk-​in closet?
Well appointed kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and a pool view that can compete with some of the resorts out there. I can also appreciate the assigned private garages and car ports too!
Location is key too as we are in town for SXSW so it is around 8 minutes away from the action.
I would likely be a resident here if I lived in Austin!
