Ava Martin Riggins does my hair. She is th best hairdresser I have ever had. She is meticulous with her cut and color. She will not be rushed and makes you feel like you are the only client she’s ever had. I recommend her to both men and women. Go one time to her and you will be hooked!

Lori is a goddess and an amazing artist! She applied my hair extensions in June and it’s November and I am still sporting an awesome head of hair. I really couldn’t have asked for more!

I was fed up with the grow out process of my pixie because I really didn’t want to grow it out. I was merely trying to save a little money. This past Friday, I called maybe 4 salons total looking for someone with an opening. I used to be extremely picky about hair dressers, but I didn’t care who did it, as long as it was at a highly rated salon!
JOEL HAMBURGER had a 4 pm opening and I was ecstatic to snatch it up! Not only was he a joy to talk with, but this is my favorite haircut of my life!!!
I don’t think I will ever visit someone else!

The East side is where it’s at these days, and Peacock Salon/​Amanda Eggiman are no different! I booked an appointment with Amanda after a recommendation from a fellow curly girl. I’m a fairly adventurous curly girl and I wanted to venture into the land of curly bangs, a style that other stylists have flat out refused to do on me before. But Amanda was up for the challenge, and boy did she have the skills and vision to pull it off! She’s extremely knowledgeable about her products and techniques, and she’s really good about listening to what you want. She’s funny and personable, we chatted throughout my session, and I left with an amazing bouncy, fresh, «bang”-ing style that I really love! It’s always so much fun to get your hair cut by someone who really loves hair, all shapes, textures, and lengths. It’s a bit pricey, expect to pay a bit over $ 100 for your cut, wash, and style, but she does free dry trims in between cuts, and TRUST ME it is worth every penny. I see my hair as an investment, and this was a good one.
I especially recommend Amanda for curly girls, but I would recommend her and this salon to anyone!

I got my hair cut by Francisco, and he was great! I had the same haircut for years and wanted a shorter more professional look. I was nervous about trying something new, but Francisco listened to my concerns and talked me through all of my options. I love the result! Thanks, Francisco!

This salon is awesome! Not only is it gorgeous, but it’s super clean as well. They have their own private lot so no stress about finding parking! Francisco is nothing short of amazing. He listens to exactly what you want out of your hair and takes his time making it into the perfect cut. I’ve trusted him with my hair ever since I moved to the area. He also cuts my boyfriends hair! I would recommend him to anyone with any type of hair.

To be fair my 5 star review is more for Amanda Eggiman than Peacock Salon. I’ve only been to the salon once, for a quick dry cut with the stupid talented and amazinggggggg Amanda E., so I wasn’t able to really tell much from that one visit. Amanda recently moved to Peacock from another salon and I came with!
I actually take time off work and drive from San Antonio all the way to Austin just so she can work her magic on my hair. Once you find that one person who takes pride in her work, knows what the f* she’s doing, is the ultimate professional and super sweet, there’s no going back! I have trust issues when it comes to my hair but when I sit down on her chair, totally relaxed, looking forward to an awesome conversation, and she asks «what are we working on today», the words «whatever you want and think needs to be done» just roll of my tongue. And that is priceless! Even more priceless than that? Ever since she started cutting my hair, over two years ago, I’ve never had to brush it! I sh*t you not my friends! the closest I come to that is running my fingers through my conditioned hair in the shower to get rid of any crazy knots. Once I step out of the shower, I put some motion lotion from Kevin Murphy (super natural, paraben free products that Amanda introduced me to, of course), run it through my hair and that’s it! It somehow airs dry all fabulous. People compliment me a LOT on my hair and I always credit Amanda and her genius cuts. Oh, and have I mentioned her color techniques are badassssssss!!! She does my highlights in such a way that when they start growing out they look even prettier! So you’re not needing a retouch every few weeks. If you are tired of being a slave to your hair, if you want to embrace your natural beauty, if you drool with envy every time you see that chick with beachy, effortless waves or if you just need a good freaking haircut, book an appointment with Amanda. The only downside to seeing her is that you will be ruined for life… you won’t want anybody else touching your hair again. Ever.

I love this place! I love Francisco! He rescued me and my hair from some crazy habits (like cutting my own hair BC I was done w bad stylists). I have very thick wavy hair and he is the first stylist who loved my hair instead of sighed at it. I will definitely make the drive to ATX for a haircut date w my BFF and my favorite, Francisco! Seriously, my hair keeps getting better every day! Amazing! Oh, and the salon reminds me of old laid back Austin. I love it all!

Leah Lawson has been cutting my hair for more than 10 years. She is well-​trained and very experienced. Unlike many other stylists, she takes her time to get the cut just right. This means your hair cut grows out beautifully, so there is more time between cuts.
I get compliments on my hair all the time. The quality and value of her service is the best I’ve ever experienced. I plan on seeing her for at least another 10 years.
Peacock Salon is beautiful and conveniently located just east of downtown.

Lauren Lust is, by far, the best stylist I have ever had. I’ve always gone to high-​end salons (as a curly haired redhead I’m rather protective of my locks…) and I’ve never had a better cut than the super-​reasonably priced Lauren has given me! I have a «new-​mom» pixie, and Lauren’s cuts last me at least 8 weeks, which my short haired sisters know is an eternity. All of my friends and family now use Lauren (men, women, long hair, short hair) and the sentiment is the same. Did I mention she’s super sweet and a foxy lady? Although I don’t color my hair, I’ve seen her work, it’s beautiful, and super natural looking. DO IT.

Just got another great haircut from Lori Jane at the peacock salon. She is the best stylist I’ve ever had and I’ll never give her up. The peacock is super cool without being pretentious. I love it. Do yourself a big favor and book an appointment with Lori Jane.

Camille gave me my best haircut in 15 years! Mine is curly and she knew just how to condition, shape and trim me with a bright new look!

This was by far the best haircut I have ever had so thank you Joel. I have searched and searched (Dallas, Houston, Austin) for someone to transform my hair into something that I can be proud of and it has finally happened. Joel discussed his vision for me and explained the best shape for my head before the cut. After the cut I am getting non-​stop compliments. Thanks Joel!!!

I’ve been going to Bird’s for the last 7 years, and found it difficult to maintain a consistently good haircut. Stylists were constantly moving from store to store or quitting, or working on days when I couldn’t make it in. I never felt very confident going in that my hair was going to turn out the way I wanted.
Well, with my wedding coming up in a few months, I was motivated to go out and actually find a good stylist/​barber that I could keep coming back to month after month, and never have to worry about leaving dissatisfied.
It would appear I got it right on the first try. Enter Todd Fisher. I was really nervous going in because I had never gotten a real classic, Mad Men style men’s haircut before, and I knew that’s what Todd’s specialty was. He immediately made me feel at ease (after complimenting me on both my shirt and shoes, which is always nice, even for us dudes). I pretty much told him that my hair was in his hands, and we briefly talked about what I DIDN’T want. When he told me that I had the perfect hair for what he had in mind, I really trusted that he knew what he was doing, and I relaxed as he went to work.
I don’t think I’ve ever had someone cut my hair so meticulously and carefully. He took his time and made sure that every strand of hair was just so. He even took a couple seconds to trim my eyebrows. No one has EVER offered or bothered to trim my eyebrows. It’s the little things, you know? And that’s what a haircut experience with Todd is all about. You feel like he really cares about every little detail. I must say, i walked away with the best haircut I’ve ever gotten. Period.
So, Todd is my new barber, and I don’t think I’ll ever darken Bird’s door (s) again.

We all know how hard it is to find a good hairdresser, especially for highlights, and especially if you’re on a time crunch. Lauren got me in right away and was flexible when I asked if I could come in an hour early.
She served me some delicious wine and had such a positive energy, it made getting my hair done a really fun experience! My highlights look amazing and my hair is feeling super healthy. Before I could even ask her, she offered to do a toning treatment so my blonde didn’t turn out brassy. loved the head massage she have me while she did a deep conditioning treatment on me and she gave me some free samples of the shampoo she used on me. Just returning from a deployment to Iraq I was in need of a haircut. I wanted to get a really good haircut and I stumbled upon Peacock. They squeezed me in without an appointment and unbeknownst to me I was conversing with the owner about my deployment as I was waiting.
During the haircut I asked my stylist how much the haircut cost (bad technique btw). My stylist, Joel Hamburger (best name in the biz) said the owner was paying for my haircut. I can only imagine it was a gesture of gratitude towards a veteran as her way of saying thanks. For the first time in my adult life I had a hair stylist explain the shape of my head and what he needed to do to make my haircut look symmetrical. Joel did an amazing job, best haircut EVER!
I’ve gone back since and will continue to frequent Joel and Peacock. They earn 5 stars based on the haircut and hospitality, not the gesture towards a veteran, although that didn’t hurt.

Love this movie. Incredible soundtrack. Killer quote. Which I use in the context of this review to explain my die hard devotion to a certain stylist: Jeromy Deblieux. You can move salons. It matters not, I will find you.
Jeromy has been stolen by Peacock Salon down on SLamar. I am told they are moving very shortly to the East Side. Since they are moving I will comment only briefly on the location: cute little salon with maybe four chairs; very peacock-​y inside, meaning bright teal walls, with wooden accents. Parking=bonus.
Jeromy is a very talented hairdresser. It is my understanding he specializes in color, but I’m cheap and only get my hair cut. He makes my baby fine hair look edgy and sassy instead of limp and dull. I no longer have an opinion, I just sit down, let him take out his razor, and go to town. (As mentioned, they have great products, but at my request, Jeromy cuts my hair in a way that I don’t need do do anything but stick my head out the window and let it dry on the way to work.)
Jeromy is also a hottie. With a fancy pants surname and gorgeous blue eyes, his talent extends beyond hair to the kitchen, to fatherhood, to rock climbing, to welding, and yes, to pickles. Ask about the pickles, if you are going to be forced to talk to talk to someone for an hour, it might as well be someone interesting, right?
