I love their food. Particularly their Orange Chicken. But also appreciate their customer service. I am disabled, cannot drive so I always order delivery. These guys go out of their way to make me happy. For example: tonight I ordered extra wontons for my egg drop soup…2 orders. I received my delivery without the extra orders of wontons. I was angry, it was late, and I was rude to the owner, very rude. She agreed to correct my order and send the wontons out even before I profusely apologized for my silly anger. I called back and apologized, said the truth, I was just hungry and tired and took it out on her. When the wontons showed up, a nice slice of cheesecake was included. This is how you keep customers coming back. I won’t buy Chinese from anywhere else!

Never tried the buffet but I’ve had the chicken tso as well as the kung pao chicken. Both delicious. Their friend rice is okay and my brother loves the rice noodles. Customer service could be better but aside from that this is a solid place for Chinese dine in or take out.(Never ordered for delivery)

The staff was very friendly and attentive. The buffet had a wide variety of dudes. The dishes were constantly being checked by the cook and refreshed. I loved everything I ate except the clam and fried rice. Those two were not for me. The garlic shrimp and General tso and dumpings, egg rolls, egg drop soup, etc… were excellent. I made three trips to the buffet. I ate in, never did take out or delivery. Those that have horrible delivery experience maybe need to plan to eat in. Or pick it up themselves. The food was excellent.

I don’t like giving out one-star reviews, but in this case, it’s completely deserved. I’ve ordered from this place a few times in the past, and never had an issue with the food or the service. It’s close to my office, the service is quick, and the food is pretty decent, as are the prices. It’s your typical Chinese takeout, which I don’t allow myself to have that often, so when I do, it’s a treat. Oriental Express usually hits the spot just right. That all ended today, when I placed a quick order of sesame chicken on their website for pickup. I’m not the kind of person who makes mistakes on food orders, as I tend to be pretty meticulous and specific about what I want. Today was no different. I chose the sesame chicken lunch special, paid and confirmed the order before I left(even checking the order details to make sure they were correct), and headed out. You can imagine my surprise when the snooty hostess, who was as pleasant as jamming a screwdriver into your eye socket, told me that I’d ordered sesame shrimp. I told her that it was sesame chicken, and she repeatedly insisted that I had ordered sesame shrimp. She was unfriendly, unprofessional, and just rude throughout our entire exchange. She was even rude to customers who were calling in, picking up the phone, barking about holding, and putting them on hold without confirming if they wanted to wait. She really didn’t give an egg roll about providing quality customer service. I understand about being busy, and dealing with a correction during the lunch rush, but that’s your job, and you have to be pleasant and professional while dealing with your customers. I told her to cancel the order, and she took her time processing the refund, tersely informing that I would«have it back in a few days». She didn’t offer an apology for the inconvenience. She did offer to correct the order, but this was after arguing with me and being an unsmiling, unfriendly human being, so naturally, I declined. Even if I hadn’t been in a hurry, I would have waited a few extra minutes had the hostess treated me with respect and courtesy, but she didn’t, so I went to another restaurant with much better service. And in case you’re wondering, I checked my receipt when I got back to my office, and confirmed that I ordered… wait for it… sesame chicken. Oriental Express will never see another penny from me.

We ordered dinner from here one night and after waiting an hour, part of our order was delivered. We called and after another hour we called back and wanted a refund because our food was still not there, as we were on hold the food arrived, it has now been 2.5 hours since we ordered, Marie, the gal on the phone, was extremely rude and failed to acknowledge any error in their part whatsoever. It was maddening.

Never again! 1) I am in a hotel, and I even SPECIFICALLYASKED you to remember to bring plastic silverware so I could eat. I mean, am I supposed to eat this with my hands? You didn’t bring me any, and I had to go searching for some. 2) You didn’t bring me a receipt, which I happened to need for my expense report, because unfortunately my company has to pay for this crap. 3) I even purchased TWO meals in case one didn’t work out, cause you know, new place, new taste or what have you, Chinese food can be iffy sometimes. It was SO bad I had to throw $ 40 of food away.(I don’t know about the soup, since I can’t TRYITWITHNOSPOON, but by sight, carrots and cabbage is won ton soup?)
The Chicken in the Chicken Fried Rice was processed, plastic tasting, fake, and just overall nasty. I ate two pieces and then couldn’t stomach anymore. It is certainly not real chicken. Chicken McNuggets taste better. The rice was bland and overly greasy. I ate about three forkfuls around the chicken and then had to give up on it. The Shrimp in the Shrimp and Broccoli smelled fishy and just didn’t taste appealing. The broccoli had some sort of weird spicy taste to it, even though I requested no spice. The sauce was semi-decent when mixed with the white rice. 4) Spring rolls are NOT egg rolls But hey, the two bottles of Aquafina were awesome!

Decent at best, food arrived somewhat warm. Fried rice was a bit greasy for my liking. I might be back, hard to say. It was good and was delivered within an hour, that made it best and it filled me up with some left overs to go in the fridge.

delivery took close to 2 hours. food was sub-par and this comes from someone who is not a stranger to cheap Chinese take out. My expectations were LOW and this went even below that. I would not order from here.

Love this place! Have never eaten in the restaurant but I’ve been ordering takeout from there the last year or so. Always consistent! My boyfriend and I are pretty stuck on our usual order, two wonton soups and a combo fried rice. The portions are great! Always have leftovers of the rice even after we both eat from it. I would love to try the buffet sometime. Front of house workers are always so nice when we come in to pick up our order!

I live in the Harris Branch area of Austin and their delivery is always on time, their driver always polite and friendly. But they are a «true gem» when it comes to entrees. I love their stir fried green bean dish, the roasted pork w/veggies, the lemon chicken, the chicken pork rice noodle… it might be easier to say, I haven’t had anything I didn’t like, there! I’m not big on «Hot & Spicy» dishes, so I can’t speak on them. Their wait staff is always helpful with describing dishes; their lunch buffet is certainly worth the price you pay and even when I walk in and order to go, you get plenty for your money. I truly believe they are the best Chinese restaurant in town; a true Austin secret! If you haven’t tried them, you are missing out on a real home cooked Chinese meal. Never mind… more for me!

We love this place as everything weve gotten has always met our expectations. Our favorites are cashew chicken, vegetable lo mein, sweet & sour chicken, and mongolian beef. Their egg rolls and crab wontons are also really good. Thank you for delivering all the way out in Manor… even if something closer opened we would still order from you!

Pretty authentic food and I enjoy eating here quite often, howver the place is starting to look more run down and when you walk through the door be prepared to get nickle-and-dimed for extras like sauce or fortune cookie. I’ve come here for 4 years and will continue to do so but only for take out not to dine in anymore.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. I called ahead for a take out order and the food was ready when I got there and piping hot when I got home! I ordered a veggie dish and it was delicious. The only thing I didn’t like was the smell of the actual restaurant… Smelled like bleach.

I called for delivery at 9:58, which is when they are open, and after I was told they were closed by someone, the owner herself came on the phone and said they were closed and that they closed at 9:45. Fix your website to say 9:45 then you idiot. It says 10PM. That means you have to deliver to me. I have never tried the food here but based on the service, and the horrible owner, I would never try orderinf here. They probably spit in your food close to closing time.

Shanna and the team at Oriental Express are polite and friendly, their delivery drivers are fast, and the food is excellent. Not only are the portions enough for 2, sometimes 3 meals, they deliver quickly, almost always get your order correct, and each dish contains the same level of quality as the next. I managed a Chinese restaurant for several years, and this one has great food. The moo shu is amazing(think Chinese fajitas); the General Tso’s chicken or beef are excellent; the hot and sour soup is the best I’ve had. Highly recommend this place. They are battling uphill on Unilocal, seeing as how they have a clientele in a neighborhood that only writes reviews when they are negative. Give Oriental a try soon. You won’t regret it.

Wow. Two hours passed after ordering online and no food yet. I call their restaurant to try and resolve the issue(i.e. — see when our food is coming, since they ran my card an hour and a half ago) and I’m put on hold for about 7 minutes before being hung up on. This was after calling in about 30 times to a busy signal. If you can’t run a restaurant and delivery service with efficiency, you should not be in business. We will NEVER use them again. Absolutely ridiculous.

Oriental Express has a great staff with friendly attitudes and prompt service. I never feels rushed when I drop in nor am I ever waiting any extraordinary amount of time. Their food is above average for Chinese Cuisine in Austin but not exemplary. They give generous portions at great prices. I’d have to rate the food at a 3 out of 5 stars but I gave them 4 star because of their service. They’re on grubhub now too which makes it easier to plan on the go.

This review is based on my dine-in experience. First of all we were sketched out upon arriving. The place was pretty much dead(which usually isn’t a good sign) but there was a group of guys hanging around outside. Whatever we still wanted to try it anyway. We ordered the pork dumplings as an appetizer. The boyfriend ordered combination lo mein and I ordered the chicken broccoli. He ordered a soup since his meal didn’t come with one. All of the food came out at the same time! Now I know some people think«wah wah the appetizer should come BEFORE the meal!» But me? I absolutely loved being presented with tons of plates at once. I felt like royalty. Lol All of it was amazing. All. Of. It. I love ginger and there was a perfect amount of it on my plate. As far as the service goes the woman serving us was very polite and attentive. Hands down one of the top 5 servers I’ve ever had. No doubt that the boyfriend and I will become regulars here.
