I always find it funny how people always heavily scrutinize buffets — especially the Chinese ones. We seem to forget that we’re not at a world-class VEGAS buffet(which some do fail, from personal experience). The expectation to receive high quality food in such a setting is logically impossible. Now that my rant is over… to the review. This place was actually really good. They had a variety of different Chinese food. All of the dishes I tried were warm, well-seasoned and most importantly fresh. The buffet draws a huge crowd which means two things: 1) great value for the product and 2) freshness. I have been to Joy East Buffet off 35 and Riverside. Now that is a horrible place to go eat at. To those who have given Fujian Grand China Buffet a bad review — try Joy East and see that FUJIAN is actually AMAZING. Enjoy!

This place sucked!!! I am in love with Chinese food and I love sushi even more, so I thought try a buffet that has the best of both worlds. NOT!!! The food was cold, the pudding was warm, the sushi was okay but you could tell it was sitting out a while and there was certain items that just didn’t taste like when I eat fresh sushi soooo???; for the price I won’t be going back there ever! Just a little fyi; after paying $ 30 for two to eat buffet here and it sucked so bad, my niece and I left to go eat at Crawfish and Oyster bar for $ 60 more and had the best seafood!

About once a year I get a hankering for Chinese buffet. Then I go find one and realize while I only get the craving once a year. Look, there’s nothing wrong with Fujian but there’s not that much right with it either. Yes, the selection is diverse but none of the food is «Chinese» and most of it is not that flavorful. The building is nice — it sits where the old San Francisco Steakhouse was, remember? — but its got no sense of décor. This place figured out how to get the maximum number of seats in there and they did it. You will get close to your neighbor. As I said not bad, but not great. Hell, not even in the next zip code to great. Pricing and format is strange. You pay as you walk in —? — before I eat you want my money? I guess I’ve been sheltered but I don’t remember doing this anywhere else. Glass of tea and lunch buffet was $ 15: that’s high folks. One last point: the reason its so high is they are throwing food away often as they refresh all the dishes out on the buffet. Another reason to think twice about any buffet — how can you feel good eating all you want when then they throw out food many homeless would gladly take? Just a weird vibe to that.

If I starving to death and only had $ 10 left in my wallet I would rather eat my wallet. The only reason it got one star was the friendly service. Other than that it was just not good.

There is a reason that you have to pre-pay here. The food has no flavor. The sushi is poorly prepared. Most items out at 7:00PM where cold and you will need to be prepared to beg if you want your drink refilled. Read the reviews before you go out to eat. I keep reminding myself of this.

Just BAD! Nothing that I ate tasted good or even fresh. I know that it’s a buffet and my bar wasn’t even high, it’s just that bad. Almost $ 10 for lunch and they make you pay before you are seated. When I went on a Thursday at 12:30pm it was pretty full. It’s hard to understand why so many people eat here, it’s probably the worst Chinese buffet I’ve ever been to! Save yourself the money and the damage to your taste buds and don’t eat here.

$ 10 for lunch can’t complain. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. The food was good and had some what of an American twist on a few dishes. The table was clean and so was the restroom. I’d recommend this place for lunch!

Large selection of American Chinese and American foods. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. No complaints overall, standard buffet items.

My brother wouldnt eat most of the food and was hungry a few hours later. That being said: The sushi selection was great. You should get the pocket with the green stuff in it. I thought most of the food was ok but the egg drop soup needed more salt.

Everything is just so bad here. Paid almost 13 dollars(without drink) for the dinner buffet, while it looks like they have a ride variety. The only vegetable they have here is broccoli and everything is brought and came ore packaged. The meats are mostly overlooked. They even messed up the Orange chicken. Do not recommend at all for the price and quality.

Drove 45 min for the cheesesticks. They were great. It’s like your abuela is in the back kitchen making menudo. Great buffet.

I visited for lunch recently with several co-workers. I was very pleased with the overall selection, and though it was a little hit-or-miss, many of the chicken-based items were pretty good. In the future I would skip the buffet and go straight to the Mongolian grill line – no one was in line and it was the best food of the whole experience. All told, it was a pretty good bargain. $ 8.99 + tax is very reasonable considering the selection and cleanliness of the establishment.

The place was dirty I did not like it. Food very greasy and fried. Waitresses not very polite. Instead of asking me I she could take away the plates, she just reached the plate while I was in the middle of a conversation and made a mess, and stained my phone. Plus the line to enter was long, and a lot of noise. The tables were so tight you could barely move. Also, it is not very cheap. I will never go back.

I’ve been here 3 – 4 times, never disappointed! It’s one of the best Chinese buffets I’ve been too! Lots and lots of variety for Chinese cuisine. ENDLESS meat choices; beef and chicken and seafood options for every type of taste bud! Amazing salad bar, tons of fresh veggie, meat, dressing options to make a salad. There is a fruit bar too. There is also a large dessert bar including soft serve vanilla and chocolate ice cream. The options here are some of the best I’ve ever experienced! Even lots of American options for the kids or non-chinese lovers. I love the food, especially THESUSHI! Lots of different kinds and when you return for a second plate, they already have new rolls waiting for you to try. I also want to point out, I visited most recently at 3:15pm. Lunch price ends at 3:30pm so to be honest I was expecting low sushi choices and the last of the meat. SOWRONG! There were continuously new sushi rolls being brought out and they never stopped adding new food to the line, even at an off-peak time. Service was always been attentive and polite. For management: The ONLY thing I can critique is the atmosphere, while the venue is clean with great décor and seating, there are always kids everywhere each time I’ve dined. Obviously, the restaurant can’t control screaming and running kiddos, but I do wish that the servers would seat dining adults separately from adults with children as loud kids bumping my chair killed our«date night» vibe on one visit. There are many different sections/areas available, it seems like it could be easy to keep kids corralled in one or two sections :)

Food is cold … Not refilled ! Dishes are not labeled … Food tastes bad. And not worth the price at all … Bad decision to come here. Feels like just wasted my money for this bad food !! Wish I could give 0 stars.

I wish I could give no stars, but the required amount is 1 star so I must, but let me tell you that this place is not exactly cheap and not exactly good. I came here with low expectations and was very disappointed. Walking in you first pay the people at the counter and then receive a ticket for your drink. Normally the lady would get your drink for you, but our waiter had to be called like 3 times by other wait staff in order to get ours. Not to mention we had already went to get our food and still no drink was there. When you sink your teeth into the first bite of the food you taste that familiar flavor of disappointment and then you begin to ponder why you wasted all that money coming there when you could of went somewhere better. I tried to find something I would like but I could find nothing. Even the banana pudding tasted strange and weird. I told my wife I would not be coming here again. I was not adventurous nor brave enough to venture to sushi island. There was only one thing this place left me wondering and that was how the heck did that get that huge wreath on that wall.

It isn’t great but it’s not bad either for the price. $ 11.50 is about what I’d pay for lunch/dinner at a Chinese restaurant anyways with appetizer, entrée and drink, but this way I could have whatever I wanted, not just one thing. Ultimately isn’t that why we go to buffets? The place is clean and slightly crowded and the variety is good.

This restaurant has really bad reviews, but I actually enjoyed my experience here. I’ve been to all of the Chinese buffets in Austin, and Fujian is definitely one of the best. They had a large selection of foods from bacon-wrapped chicken to salmon nigiri. In addition, everything I tried was freshly made and delicious. I highly recommend their sushi and fried fish fillets. I had to dock a star due to the cleanliness of the restaurant, however, it was really busy when I went there. Overall, I had a great experience, and I will definitely be coming back in the future!

This place is shibby. There are many bad reviews but ignore them, go in here red eye Jedi and this place is like Disneyland. They have some sweet décor. Their sushi is actually really good!(For a Chinese buffet). If you come here and expect a 5 star restaurant you dumb, dummy. Get ur hipster self back down to the Kirby lane and eat your organic pancakes. This is the best Chinese buffet I’ve ever been to and Buffets are a trademark of mine. 5 stars all the way! Bring a date!
