Dr Madsen is great. His staff is very friendly and professional. Nobody likes going to the dentist but these guys make it easy and I feel confident in my dental health with them in my corner.

I can’t stand going to the dentist! I can honestly say that they made it very difficult me to not want to go back for my checkups and follow ups. Taking x rays wasn’t easy or fun. But Steffanie made it quick and painless. Thanks and I feel comfortable smiling!

Dr. Madsen and Stacie were great. Very friendly staff that knows what they are doing. No judgement, just relief. They are now my go to office for dental and orthodontic needs.

After avoiding a dentist for over 5 years I really needed to go back. I had become distrustful of the dentists I had seen in Austin and had just stopped going because I felt nickeled and dimed at them. This was the only practice on my insurance that wasn’t part of a large chain of dental offices I had never heard pleasant things about and had good reviews so I designated them as my dentist. Dr. Madsen knew I had distrust and anxiety so he has only told me piece by piece «this is what is highest priority» instead of giving me a huge list of costs and procedures. I do still ask questions on each bill and why they recommend one thing over another when I had crowns. They have always given me an explanation that satisfies me, except on thing which they allowed me to decline. Over all I am happy with the practice and find them better than others I have been to in the area, they have me on regular visits now and I won’t be hiding for 5 years again.

I did not have a good experience here. I had just received new dental insurance and had looked through Unilocal to compare reviews to what was available for my insurance choices.
This place has high reviews, so I signed on to make them my Dental place.
In the meantime, I happened to get a painful abscess. It was two weeks out before my insurance would kick in… So I was hoping to make it to that time. I called in and explained what was going on, and made my appointment. Let me back up, I called in and got the answering machine and left a message, and never got a return call.
I had to call in again.
In the meantime, my gum was obviously infected and it got very painful and very swollen. At that point, I didn’t care if I had to pay out of pocket, because it was so bad! It was a Friday afternoon when things got really hairy. When I called in it was after hours and I was booted over to whoever they have answer the phone on the off hours. The long and short of it was that I was not an established patient to them yet, so she wouldn’t help me at all. (!?)
I spent the weekend doing all sorts of things to keep the swelling and infection down and figured I would just walk in Monday morning and ask them to drain it. Luckily I took good care of it and it went way down, but it wasn’t healed.
I called in Monday morning and got the front desk. I explained my situation and I was told I needed to wait until my Thursday appointment. Um, really? Ok. I was a little confused, so I asked what I should do to be sure to keep the infection down until then. Her answer was– and I quote, «I don’t know, I just work at the front desk.» She then went on to tell me that the dentist would be in the next day… And if I felt like calling back, I could do so???
The most basic job of the front desk is to be a helpful liaison, not a lazy teenager!
She didn’t even pretend that she was about to find anything out for me, nor was she going to go out of her way to give me a call back. That was pretty unbelievable!
I had been dealing with this for so long, I figured I would just wait until Thursday. when I got there, I will say the front desk seemed pretty cheery — but, with all I had gone through and how I was feeling in my gums I really wasn’t in the mood for a couple of giddy teenagers and all the silliness.
The dentist himself seems to be like a very nice man. the equipment there is modern and convenient. the protocol that the dentist came up with seemed really extreme and expensive, and of course my insurance wouldn’t cover most of what he said I needed. I opted to go for a second opinion, & I am so glad that I did! I just went to a place that I wanted to go to instead of being boxed in by insurance. My new dentist (A biological dentist) gave me a protocol that wasn’t much less expensive (and they don’t take my insurance– who cares???), but it is less invasive for sure and certainly different than what they told me I needed at this other place.
I was not a happy camper at NW dentists!

Bait and Switch. Paid for promotional cleaning, told could not do, teeth were too bad. Must spend 1200.00 to get cleaning. Went to another dentist. Had cleaning paid, normal. Dentist recommended unnecessary treatments. Got out as fast as possible.

Dr madsen makes this office the best. He is very cordial, friendly, and patient. That’s not why i think he is the best though. He is honest and in any service oriented business honesty is priceless. You take the word of a dr seriously and trust their judgement or advice because they are a professional.
The office is fair with prices and excellent with service. As a middle aged man i would recommend dr madsen highly without hesitation.

I can say I never liked going to the dentist but love this office.
They have all the new technology so it is a little expensive but I think it is worth it to not be in pain the next day or even when they are working on you.
Will recommend to everyone I know
Thanks again to the staff at Northwest Austin for getting me in and working after hours to take care of my issues and resovle most of my problems in such a short time before I move :)

My review is based on my husband’s experience. Changed insurance so I had to look for another Dentist and this location was on his way home. The location is great, but their service is even better. Filled out his forms online so that he didn’t have to mess with it when he arrived. He needed a crown and a cleaning. They prepped his tooth and took the mold one evening and the crown was ready the next day. He went back the next week for a cleaning and was very impressed. He enjoyed each visit so much that I will not have a problem getting him to go to the Dentist in the future. YEAH!!!

Great Practice.
Friendly staff, quick and effective. I was admittedly a little scared to have a root canal in the front of my mouth, but there was no pain and Dr Madsen and the assistant Steph were very encouraging and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who asks. I can’t wait for my gold tooth to come in!!! THANKS DOC!

My son and I both were in need of dental work and I decided to go to Northwest Austin Dental. the location was the draw at first but after meeting the staff I would probably keep going even if I moved miles away. The allure for me as well is that give payment options which makes my dental plan VERY affordable. Dr. Madsen is so nice and professional as is the whole team

Hm. I must admit, this is the best dental office I’ve ever been to. The scheduling was a breeze, the dentist was super nice and actually cared about what I said, the equipment is state of the art, they didn’t sell me into anything I didn’t want and it was a comfortable environment. At the end of the appointment, the billing person let me know the exact amount that is being charged if I were to purchase something, I decided against it and they didn’t push at all.
Highly recommended.

Hadn’t been to a dentist in over 5 years… So needless to say I needed a good cleaning and had a cavity. The hygienist was aggressive but thorough and pleasant. Dr. Madsen was very friendly and explained things before X-​rays and the cleaning, as well as after the exam. All staff was polite and cheerful. I got my three fillings taken care of in the same visit. I will give a fifth star when I’m sure the billing goes through without issues. Overall I enjoyed my visit there and look forward to visiting in 6 months.

Months after my husband and I got work done at this office (and paid for in full at the time of service) we continued to receive bills. I called 3 times and was told they incorrectly filed our insurance and not to worry because they would fix it. I received at least 2 more bills after that from their billing office! Get it together! We found a new dentist who said the «deep cleaning» I was told I needed was not necessary. I’m giving the second star because the office staff at this location was exceptionally friendly and nice.

I just recently had to change dental offices due to an insurance change and was very worried. After having my first visit here I am extremely happy and actually like this office better than my last! I have now switched my children over too and have every confidence that we will all be going here for good.

I just visited this office, and I was very impressed. The staff was very courteous and professional, and the building is sleek and modern. The dental assistant was very thorough taking my x-​rays; not only do they take x-​rays, but also actual pictures. The dentist was very nice (Dr. Madsen) and I felt like he really cared about his patients.
After my initial exam, I received a very nice «thank you» card from the staff. That was really sweet!
I keep telling my friends and coworkers to change dentists!

I am not usually the type to go out and review things unless they are bad. But in this case, I feel the need to give props where props are due.
This is a brand new office in the new (and awesome) HEB/​Alamo shopping center, so its all decked out with new equipment and technology. The office may be new, but Dr Madsen is not. He mentioned that he has experience at at least two other offices.
I signed in, gave a copy of my insurance card, and sat down. The next thing that happened was a FIRST for me. Dr Madsen came out and met me personally in the waiting room. He took me in his office and said «I want to know my patients.» We had a 10 – 15 minute chat.
Then on to business. It was just a regular 6 month checkup and cleaning for me (I had new insurance and needed an in-​network dentist). Being a first time patient, I got the full work up including Xrays, lots of them and history and exam.
Before the exam, Dr Madsen went over all the medical history I filled out and submitted online, and he asked me if I had any other concerns that I didn’t list. Then he did a very thorough exam, measuring gum lines, showing me Xrays and photos, and telling me that I need to do the «F word» more often…(dirty mind… FLOSS). Next, he told me that his hygienist was running behind so he’d be cleaning my teeth. She even came in when she finished the other patient so she could check his work. It was hilarious.
After the exam and Xray review, he said that I had an old filling that worried him, and he wanted to replace it. He did a plan of care, and his staff presented a printout of the costs, insurance, and out of pocket for me. I agreed, signed, and we were on our way. He replaced the filling in 15 minutes … I timed him (as a joke). He said it wasn’t a record. lol
I have to admit, this office has some of the friendliest and most courteous staff. The new clean office and technology (I’m a gadget nerd) is really nice. I had originally thought that when my insurance renewal was due, I’d switch back to my old plan so I could go back to my old dentist. Today’s visit has probably changed my mind. If this type of service continues, pretty soon it will be difficult to get an appointment with Dr Madsen.
