Nanette Labastida

I originally found Nanette on Unilocal when I was just THINKING about buying a house. We stayed in tough through email and on Twitter. When the time finally came to buy the market was CRAZY. But Nanette stayed calm and helped keep us sane. She was really patient with us as we were looking for a very specific property. In the end, we found exactly what we wanted and I think we only got it because of how quickly Nanette worked. I would and will work with her again and I recommend her to friends all the time!

She was phenomenal and great to work with. I was able to find the apartment I wanted within 5 days of working with her. Love the new place!

Nanette was an absolute JOY to work with. She really helped us narrow down our choices and pick the home that was best for us, PLUS negotiate a deal that we were thrilled with. We love our new home and couldn’t have done it without the patience and understanding of Nanette.

Nanette is an absolute delight to work with. She’s smart, patient, easy going and detail oriented. She only showed me the properties that matched my criteria and never tried to upsell me. She also did not try to steer me to her listings or those of her friends. After 3 months and almost 100 showings, we found the perfect house and we negotiated a great deal. Whenever I emailed her properties, she researched them and returned my emails and texts within a few hours. She is hands down the best realtor I have worked with (I have worked with 5 total so far). She even helped me with an apartment till I had enough money to buy a house for no charge! Don’t walk, run to her for your housing needs :). And yes, I met her through friends from Twitter. She even offered me her kids furniture for free that she no longer needed. She is as much a good friend as she is a realtor. She never pressured me to take an offer or put an offer on a house I was not sure about.

I found Nanette through twitter where became online friends. When I started looking for my first house the most important thing to me was that I found a realtor who was honest and would hopefully find me a good deal. I also hoped to find someone who would understand my needs. When I was looking for an apartment years ago I saw several realtors who didn’t get that when I said «central» I didn’t mean 183 and when I said «small complex» I didn’t mean just shy of 500 units. When I met Nanette and we started talking about neighborhoods she instantly got exactly what I was talking about.
Looking for houses actually was a lot of fun, we would meet at vegan restaurants we were both dying to try and then drive around town listening to music and laughing about a lot of the silly things you find when house hunting. She would listen to me endlessly waver about pluses and minuses and never lost her patience with my indecisiveness. Since I was using an Austin city program for low income people there was also a lot of paperwork and regulations that we had to go through and I was so happy to have Nanette with me through all of that.
After I had a really bad experience with the first house I bid on accepting my offer and then later changing their mind Nanette made me realize that it was for the best anyway. And she was right, we still talk two years later about how lucky we were that we didn’t end up there. The second bid I put in was also fraught with difficulty because my house was breaking some code violations. Nanette helped me to get the seller to pay for a lot of that, including fixing a leaking shower and retiling the bathroom and walked me through the never ending closing process.
The house that I ended up getting is just adorable, and I didn’t even realize it when we first looked at it. It was so much nicer than anything I thought I would end up with and with a little paint it has been completely transformed. I am so happy there! And I am so happy to have met Nanette who I now recommend to anyone even considering buying a house. Really, I should ask for a stack of her business cards next time I see her.
