Mi Victoria Bakery

I walked to Mi Victoria earlier this morning, as I have done on many Saturdays for years, and was devastated to find the entire space had been cleared out. I certainly hope they are only temporarily closed as others have indicated, otherwise I don’t see any reason to get out of bed on the weekends.

Hey everyone! The owners of Mi Victoria Bakery wanted me to let everyone know that after 14 years of service, Mi Victoria Bakery has had to temporarily close down and relocate. Unfortunately, the landlord’s/owner’s business practices and property upkeep have not been acceptable to the standards of the customers and it’s what the employees deserve. Unfortunately until issues are resolved, Mi Victoria will have to remain closed. Thank you for the years of continued patronage. You will be seeing Mi Victoria Bakery again!

I am so sad to know that Mi Victoria is temporarly closing. They are trying to find a new good spot. Almost 20 years of sweet and warm mexican bread. I will tell you the «secret» of mi Victoria Bakery. Martin the owner has been crafting this artisan bread all nights for more than 19 years. Yes, daily all nights. Aplause and honor to this hard work and thanks to this victorious man for bringing us a little bit of real mexican bread.

Went here for the first time yesterday. I noticed it because of an oddly named tattoo place next to it that I pass every day.
I went in around 8:30 am to get breakfast tacos for the work fam. I ordered 10 tacos with 3 toppings each for only $ 14. They weren’t busy so it only took about 10 minutes. I wish I would’ve noticed they have nopales (cactus) before I was done ordering. They had a pretty large baked goods selection I was looking at, too.
The tacos were good; not the best I’ve had, but good enough for $ 1.50. The green hot sauce you get with the tacos was pretty spicy! Not a bad spend all around and the cashier was friendly.

This place is cheap.
The portions are generous.
The food is good.
What more can you ask for?
The tacos and breakfast plates are delicious and the donuts are the best I’ve had. I love that their twisty donuts have a good amount of cinnamon in them. Yum!

I got like five pastries, two tacos, a Mexican coke and a canned diet coke for $ 8.15. You pretty much can’t beat that…
It’s next to a really weird wizard castle dragon tattoo place and basically a hole in the wall but everyone is very friendly. If you like delicious Mexican pastries you shouldn’t pass this place up!

Love this place!!! Where else can you walk in at 6am, order 20 tacos, and walk out less than 10 minutes later? Oh! and they are GOOD tacos. The service is great. Super friendly and courteous.

Awesome. We got two pastries, two breakfast tacos, and a Topo Chico this morning for about $ 4.20 and it was all really fresh and good. Great red and green (very spicy) salsas, too. After eating breakfast we tried an al pastor taco ($ 1.80) and it was also very good. This place is a great value and my new go-​to breakfast and lunch spot when along this stretch of Burnet Road. I’m looking forward to going back and testing the carnitas and barbacoa next time.

This is one very unique taco shop off burnet. I would say this is Victoria’s «Secret» Bakery, because out of all the times I’ve driven down Burnet rd how come I’ve never come across this «hidden» place right across from a CVS mart.
The taco is good (not the best, like Errol was saying). I would compare it to the same as Tamale House only bigger and with a fresher taste.
This was just what I was waning 2 tacos and a drink for under $ 4.
Im a fan.

I was looking for a place that serves menudo in the North Loop area, so I happen to come across this place.
Now, Ive eaten menudo all my life, all kinds, good or bad. I know what the taste should be like. The menudo here is JUANITAS CANNED MENUDO. Try it, buy a can of this at your local grocery store for $ 2 as opposed for paying $ 6 here for the same thing.
I dont mind paying for good homemade food, but if what your going to do is open a can of preserved menudo, heat & serve it to me, you might as well hand me a roll of toilet paper for the incovenience of eating this right after Im done. Shame on you guys!

This place is authentic. Plenty of Mexican sweets, including the almighty pink cake.
Also tacos! Tacos! Not just breakfast tacos, either. Though, you should get breakfast tacos here, because they’re the best. But to me, the real gem here is the barbacoa tacos. Oh man, you guys. Why go to Torchy’s and pay 4 bucks for a «Democrat,» which is what they call their barbacoa, when you can come to Mi Victoria right down the street and get a better version of it for only 1.50? You can get 3 tacos here for the price of one at a place like Torchy’s, and it tastes better.
They also have lunch plates, but I haven’t tried them yet. I usually just get a couple of barbacoa tacos to go since I live right around the corner. Check it out if you want some delicious tacos and sweets on the cheap.

I grew up in the RGV. Moving to central Texas made me realize how much I miss a good pumpkin empanada and pan de polvo. This place has it all. Pink cake! Molletas! It was like going home!
But they have more than just sweet bread! They have breakfast tacos! Delicious breakfast tacos! Barabacoa everyday! It’s very dangerous that I so close to here.
I haven’t been here for lunch yet but they have lunch plates and tacos. I can’t wait to try their carne guisdada next.

I am writing this review from D.C. as a tear run down my face because damn, I miss breakfast tacos so much. When I utter the words «breakfast tacos» to East Coast people or anywhere else in the country they are like «breakfast tacos? What is that?» and then my heart breaks for them because they are missing out on the best breakfast food invented. So, thank you Tex-​Mex!
But I love Mi Victoria Bakery, in Austin, there are b-​fast tacos on every corner. Some are fancy and expensive and yeah, I give them credit, they are good. But the best ones are the dollar tacos and you’ve got your mom and pops cooking in the back kitchen. They are delicious, cheap and have just a simple authentic salsa. No need to get fancy with your salsa. Mi Victoria Bakery does the trick, I miss it. I will be back soon to eat my b-​fast tacos.

4 –ingredient breakfast taco and 5 pieces of sweet bread for $ 3.27!
That’s a deal I can get behind. :-D And one that seems to be getting to my behind, too. :-/

This is a little hole in the wall with some great breakfast tacos. My boyfriend and I both had bacon and egg ones which were a good size for the price. The tacos, two bottles of water and a churro were $ 4.90. Very cheap!
It may not be as gourmet as Tacodeli (which I am a fan of) but I’m glad we tried it.

Yay, craptastic rears it’s ugly head again.
I came here yesterday afternoon after reading so many Unilocal reviews and hoping for a sweet afternoon treat on the cheap.
Now this review is based on the fact that they are a BAKERY and therefore I am judging them on their BAKED goods.
Well, cheap I DEFINITELY got. We walked in and there wasn’t anyone there save for a girl attendant that was rude and had a bad case of facial acne to boot. She was just mean, not helpful, and almost seemed irritable that she had someone come into the store. After taking in the vast selection, we decided on a slice of Tres Leches cake, some Churros, and a brownie.
My friends, even I wasn’t prepared for the massive letdown that was the Tres Leches Cake. I’ve even made it myself. I actually had pointed to something else but the girl gave me this dry, lifeless, and Styrofoam contained filled with what appeared to be decorated Styrofoam. After opening the container while in the parking lot, I came back and asked if this really was the Tres Leches and went and pointed at what I had pointed to LAST time when I originally asked for the cake. All I got was «No ma’am, that’s the Tres Leches» in a really exasperated tone. When I pointed again, she said «Oh, that’s something different.» Thanks for listening to your customer, you idiot!
Something tells me this wasn’t the first time someone got something they didn’t expect. It was dry with no semblance of three milks soak-​age going on in the sponge cake. Realizing that it wasn’t worth the time to explain to her what it was I had POINTED TO that looked like Tres Leches, we left. The cake was sad. The whipped topping was hard and the strawberry syrup was STRINGY.
The brownie? Obviously dry, old, and more cake-​like than brownie like (despite it being a full pan of brownies… hence, why we thought it was fresh) and the Churros were nothing to write home about. I can’t believe a place that calls itself a bakery is willing to sell this cheap swine food to their patrons.
WHAT a disappointment. Crap baked goods and crap service. I will never come back here, not even to try the breakfast tacos because let’s face it… Ken’s is the supreme winner in the breakfast taco category for Austin and I get much more caring service there than at this dump of a business.
If you’re thinking about going, don’t. The food is cheap and in cheap, I mean it’s crap. It’s days old items that they put in the display that they’re trying to pass off to you and really… it’s just not worth it if you’re looking for something on a budget. Trust me, I would have MUCH rather gone to a fast food chain than this place and it takes quite a bit for me to be this upset about a restaurant. At San Francisco Bakery, you can get a free item with the purchase of a pastry there after 3 PM and that’s where I should have gone because at least I know I’m getting something that was baked THAT day (that’s much tastier too).

Well, you sure can eat cheap here. My three tacos and an apple fritter cost me exactly $ 4.35, and on a Saturday morning at 7:15, I was in and out of this place in 10-​minutes. Hard to beat that.
Unfortunately, the tacos just weren’t that special, or maybe I’m spoiled by all the other taco choices we have in Austin. The bacon and egg was the kind where the egg is mixed with tiny bacon bits, and I’m more of an individual strip kind of guy. The potatoes in the egg and potato appeared white and steamed, instead of my preference for golden brown and crunchy. I did like the flavor of my al pastor with cilantro and onion, but the pork chunks were pretty well on their way to being dried out.
I’ll give them props and an extra star for the apple fritter, which was superb with my own brewed coffee — everyone mentions that it’s best to avoid the coffee here. I think the bottom line is I’m glad I tried Mi Victoria, I won’t say I’ll never be back, but maybe the trick is to come with a regular next time and let them do all the ordering.

Breakfast for two with dessert and change for $ 5! Que bueno!

For a number of years, our son asked for the «red» cake from Mi Victoria for his birthday. It feeds at least 20 kids, is inexpensive and huge, deliciously moist and the «red» frosting is yummy. Unfortunately, he found out that even though it is red in appearance, the employees here call it the «pink» cake. So, heading towards puberty, he rejected it altogether.
The giant glass case of bakery goods always attracts me. Pastries in rainbow colors with sugar and spice dance in rows. I watched families and children stream in on a recent Saturday to select their favorite treats. The sugar skulls fascinate me and are truly beautiful for Dia De Los Muertos.
We come here for the wonderful, fat and tasty breakfast tacos. At $ 1.30 for a three ingredient taco, it’s one of the best deals in town. The green sauce is more flavorful thanTacodeli’s. You can actually taste the green chilies rather than, um, «experience» them the next day.
