Our experience with these clowns was horrible. They measured the existing structure incorrectly and were off by almost 2 feet. They didn’t discover the error until the new construction was well under way and they came to us with only poor choices to fix the problem: Chiefly, a major sacrifice of planned space in a master bath and killing an important closet in what would have been a bedroom. Their project manager was grossly under-qualified and they had trouble keeping their sub contractors on the job. The project was 6 months over due. Our own property and tools went missing. Under pressure, they admitted fault after one of their subcontractors was jailed after stealing jewelry from another job. Then then nickled and dimed us for things that should have been part of the plan, such as connecting the water lines to the plumbing. Ridiculous…

We hired Masterpiece Building of Austin to remodel a 1979 town home in NW Austin that we purchased in September 2014. Masterpiece delivered in every way. They kept within the budget and finished on time. The craftsmanship is excellent. We’ve been through several remodels. In almost every case the contractors did what they asked, but usually no more. Masterpiece was different because they looked for opportunities to improve on the initial design throughout the remodeling process if they could without passing along the cost. This is commitment. In addition, the staff bent over backwards to make the experience as painless as possible. Masterpiece assigns a project manager to work with their carpentry specialists and subs on site and trouble shoot issues that come up. We couldn’t be happier with the finished product and would hire them again without thinking twice about it.

We had an excellent experience with Masterpiece Building on our remodeling project which was completed in May of this year(2014). We expanded the master bath to more than twice its original size and moved it away from its original location. Floors, ceilings, and walls in the other bedrooms were redone. We added a large room and an additional bathroom. We also redid the outdoor spaces to include two patio areas and a curved concrete retaining wall. The Masterpiece company owner and the senior project manager worked very well with us and with our architect. Their company employees were great. Their subcontractors did quality work. We are very pleased with the results of our project.

We purchased a 3000 sq ft home that had been abandoned for 4 years and was in terrible shape. It was built in 1978 and never updated. In addition to needing to be updated there were major structural issues and wood rot that needed to be addressed. We had done a major remodel on our home, and really liked the contractor and his very high quality work. Unfortunately, he is no longer doing remodels. We asked him to recommend someone as good as he was, and he suggested Leo Maya, owner of Masterpiece Building. We were very nervous because we did not believe anyone could do as good a job as our original contractor, and expected to be disappointed. From the very start we were impressed with Leo. He did a thorough inspection of the house, and gave us a very comprehensive bid of all the work that we requested, and all of the maintenance issues that needed to be addressed. He successfully got a variance from West Lake Hills(a VERY challenging task) for one issue, and answered all of our questions with patience and expertise. We decided to go with Masterpiece, and were pleasantly surprised that they equalled the quality of the remodel we had previously done. The work was done on schedule, and ONBUDGET! Shocking since there were so many issues hidden behind the walls. He had really done his homework on the bid. We could not be happier with the way the remodel turned out. We have had numerous guests assume that it is brand new construction. When we tell them that the house was built in the 70’s they cannot believe it. We have had Masterpiece do several small jobs since, and will use them for all future projects. We have recommended Masterpiece to several friends(something we are cautious about doing in general) and they have all been as happy as we were.

We just completed a huge remodel of our 1970s home in NW Austin. We did a complete remodel of both the kitchen and the master suite, as well as replacing the rotten siding on the exterior. Our experience with Masterpiece was top notch. The finished product is absolutely beautiful and the experience was smooth. It took 2.5 months to complete, which is a long time to wait for your home to be ready and leaves a lot of opportunity for frustration. But Masterpiece completed the project on time and on budget! I fully expected them to come back at some point and ask for more money due to something unexpected, but it NEVER happened. I highly recommend Leo and his team — they are professionals and they care deeply about the quality of their work.

We had the world’s worst experience with Masterpiece Remodeling(now called Masterpiece Building of Austin, but same owner). It’s a long and painful story, but cutting to the chase, we had to retain an attorney to compel them to fix a major problem that they had caused, but denied causing. In fact, rather than admitting or even investigating the cause of the problem, they went on the offensive, and blamed us. When they realized that we were serious about going to arbitration, they finally, after nearly a year admitted that yes, they had caused the problem and were willing to fix it. What a nightmare. I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy. Buyer beware.
