Mannem Sasi K, DDS

I’ve had multiple procedures done by this dentist and I’m so scared to go back for anything other than a cleaning. I’ve stayed with Sasi Mannem for several years because she’s nice and the hygienists have always done a great job cleaning my teeth, and I haven’t had a comparable experience elsewhere. But over the years, I’ve had so many procedures done by her that I’ve started to question the validity of her recommendations. Like the other review I’ve saw of her, it started out with replacing old fillings, and the cerec fillings never fit right. Then I started grinding my teeth and she said I cracked a few of my molars, and recommended getting crowns. While doing one of the procedures for a crown, she stopped and said she couldn’t proceed, and wanted me to go see a specialist at her office instead. Between her and the specialist, they ended up recommending a bone graft, crown lengthening, root canal, or had to simply remove the tooth instead because a cavity has been opened up during the procedure. I was so frustrated and stressed out with the fact that I had gone from having no issues with the tooth to having to deal with all these additional procedures, and to possibly lose it anyway. I kept asking for explanations but felt the communication level wasn’t sufficient. It is hard to go back to a health provider when I feel the communication and trust is lacking. It’s stressful enough having to go seek for any medical service, and it’s not acceptable having to deal with these additional issues.

I just happened on this Unilocal page via Groupon and was shocked to see how many others had an experience like mine, courtesy of Dr. Mannem. I had to find a new dentist and had seen good things about Dr. Mannem on Healthgrades, so I went. I do remember the cleanings and exam being dragged out over two appointments and she told me that a silver filling I had was going to fall off and needed to go. Despite having had no problems with this filling, I let her talk me into a Cerec and she can really sell this sh*t.
I got the Cerec and it never fit well, still doesn’t. The thing was huge and not properly shaped after going back to Dr. Mannem twice afterwards to have it sanded down. I began to have an ache in my jaw and decided to go to another dentist. I told Dentist #2 the story and she just happens to be BFF’s with Dr. Mannem, so she sends me back to her. Dr. Mannem pulls the same crap someone else mentioned with claiming my root was enflamed under the Cerec, so she pulled it off and stuffed the hole full of clove oil and dressing. I waited two weeks, went back, and she just stuck a new Cerec on with the same trouble grinding the thing down.
This Cerec situation went through at least 8 visits and I finally had to find a new dentist who was able to grind the thing down enough that it wasn’t jacking up my bite. Still, I get aches in my jaw and grind my teeth with the Cerec, whereas I didn’t really have this problem before. I’d love to just have the tooth pulled out, but to avoid bone loss, I have to keep this janky souped up tooth that Dr. Mannem so kindly upgraded.
Dr. Mannem is terrible. Simply awful and possibly scammy. Don’t go to her if you value your teeth.

I have been with Dr. Mannem (and her associates) for almost six years. I have never had a bad experience with she or her staff. It should be noted that the address on this post is incorrect as they moved down the street to Jefferson and 35^th St a couple of years ago. Their new place is beautiful, and the staff has always been helpful. I can’t recommend this office enough.

As with some of Dr. Mannem’s other patients, I did not have a good experience. I am now, 6 years later, having problems with a molar that Dr. Mannem allegedly did a root canal on and crown. I questioned the efficacy of her work at the time as it was taking 3 hours to complete and she took a long break about halfway through. She just disappeared with no explanation as to why or what she was doing. I never went back to her after that. I felt something was amiss. Well, something was. Do NOT go to this doctor. Extremely incompetent and unprofessional. I wish I had never met her.

Stay away from this dental office unless you like to have dental work redone. I am the mother of five children and a college professor. Five out of six of my family members had dental work done by Dr. Mannem, only to have all or some redone within a 5 year period. I am referring to cavities that were filled without removing all the decay or fillings that were incomplete, root canals that left canals partially «rooted» or even ignored completely, and crowns improperly seated or fitted. Twice I was sent home after having a crown seated, and I could not floss between my teeth, so I had to take the time to return. No apology, by the way. Once I was overcharged more than $ 200. The employee who made the «mistake» was let go, and I never received an explanation or an apology, although the money was refunded. There is a fairly frequent turnover of staff. Dr. Mannem is pleasant, but incompetent. If you value your health, do not go to this office. I wish we had never met Dr. Mannem; I am still having to correct the shoddy dental work she performed on me and my family.

I had the same issue with Dr. mannem as the other reviewer had in reference to a root canal. She did a shoddy job and I had to go to another dentist who was appalled by the work. He had to redo the root canal and get me a new crown. I had to pay for all of this (not cheap!).
She has a good bedside manner but that’s where it ends unfortunately.

I’m never going back. Dr. Mannem said I supposedly had a cavity (my first one in my entire life; I’m still not convinced I had anything there) and then proceeded to mess up my tooth so bad with the filling that my tooth actually broke. She then said I needed to get a crown stuck in, and she put a temporary crown that was so bad that it fell off. I had to get a root canal. She then put a permanent crown that was not so permanent: it fell off within 7 days. By then I was in California, so I could not go back to her to get the crown stuck back in (thank heavens!). And even though she totally botched the new crown, she would not refund the money, and she refused to talk to the new dentist. What kind of a doctor does that?
I lost a lot of money. Also, every time I went there, she made it seem like my mouth was about to rot off my face and tried to sell me all kinds of stuff to clean it. I never bought anything because all the other dentists I’ve been to have always told me what a healthy mouth I had. Clearly, she wanted to make a buck out of selling me all kinds of junk. Well, the first thing that the new dentist (the one that I went to when my crown fell off) said when I went to his office was what great dental hygiene I had. And then his assistant said the same thing a few days later. So clearly, Dr. Mannem did unnecessary procedures on me, on the only cavity that I have ever had (if I had it at all), messed up my tooth, and cost me a lot of money. I’d rather go to Tijuana to get my teeth worked on than go back to Dr. Mannem.

I have been going here for about two years now. They are friendly and very professional. I have gotten my teeth cleaned twice and feel that they do a very good job at checking for cavities.

The administrative staff is helpful and very friendly. They billed my insurance and I didn’t have to do a thing! I didn’t have to do a lot of unnecessary waiting.
The dental technician was professional yet personable. The centrally-​located Lamar office is a bit small, but they’re going to renovate sometime soon to add more space. They have all the latest x-​ray equipment and computer technology. Oh, and a good selection of waiting-​room magazines!
Dr Mannen herself is great! Soft-​spoken, but thorough and professional. I will definitely go back. Well, she said I have to, to get my teeth cleaned. Heh!
