Manju’s

Well, I think I know why they are going out of business FINALLY. The selection of clothing isn’t anything you would feel comfortable either wearing in a modern office or a classroom. It just looks depressing. And grossly overpriced.
The only thing remotely interesting at the clearance sale was the jewelry — but then again I can get identical pieces at Savers or even ebay for MUCH cheaper. Even with the ‘clearance’ it’s still waay too pricey.
I am suprised that a college student, much less somebody wanting to hang out on ‘the drag’ would even be caught dead wearing something from this place. EWWW!!!

The employees were EXTREMELY rude. Horrible customer service. For a small boutique with hardly competitive pricing, you’d think they would care about whether or not a customer will return. They treated me like a criminal, even in my expensive designer suit.

It’s def a good store for game day attire and the prices are cheap. But the customer service is so sucky. Every time I have gone in I have never been asked if I need help for anything or if I they can start me a fitting room. I feel like those are basic requirements for a boutique. And since it’s cheaper the clothes aren’t as good of quality; def good for a girl on a budget.

definitely wont shop here again. I bought a skirt here and after 1 use and wash it became weathered. I’ve also bought a bandeau that after the 1^st use it started to become unseamed. They clothes are cheap and very overpriced. I’ve found the same clothing at other store for far cheaper. I only shopped her out of necessity since its so close to campus. I consider Forever 21 to have better quality than Manjus and that’s saying something.

This place is a hidden treasure. I can not believe I have never been in this store. Manju’s is very fashionable with reasonable prices.

How to not find something you like at Manju’s:
1. Comb through the racks by yourself. There are a billion pieces of clothing hiding on those racks and they will swallow you up without stretching a seam.
2. Expect great quality. Most of the clothes there are made of cotton or synthetic materials.
3. Expect great designs. A lot of the clothes in Manju’s run on the, er, overly-​interesting side? They tend to be very revealing and fad-​based. Definitely not a timeless collection.
How to find something you love at Manju’s:
1. Tell the workers there EXACTLY what you’re looking for (ex: I need a colorful but not overwhelming strapless dress appropriate for a bridal shower). On days that aren’t too busy, I’ve had three different employees work through the racks to bring me dresses that meet my criteria perfectly. And I went home with a beautiful one.
2. Expect to spend around 40 for a nice dress. Manju’s has a habit of advertising «40−50% off ALL STYLES!» but apparently «all» means «a select group of out-​of-​season-​dresses.» Chances are that the one trendy, gorgeous, good-​quality dress you find won’t be on sale.
3. Come back more than once. They bring in new dresses every week. Rules of probability say that eventually, you’ll find something you like ;)

I purchased my unconventional prom dress at Manju’s in 2002, and I am glad the store is still open for me to shop at. I don’t always find something at Manju’s, but taking a look is always worth the time. There are zillions of shirts and dresses, all in different colors and styles. The clothing isn’t necessarily the highest quality, but I think you totally get what you pay for at Manju’s. The jewelry can be a little expensive — $ 20 for a necklace — but a fun, good looking dress for $ 30? Sometimes more, sometimes less? I don’t think that’s unreasonable at all.
I loved going to Manju’s when I lived in Austin, and every time I come back I usually make a point to stop in.

This was our last stop on The Drag and I can’t say I’ve ever been fond of this place, but we decided, ahhh, might as well. I can say that I definitely agree with some of the finer points of the reviews before. Holy geeze do these ladies eagle eye like you’re some kind of convicted shoplifter.
After my friend and I were aghast at the inventory — it kind of targets a younger, more flirty, and Forever 21-​inclined crowd, basically not us lat– twentues ladies — we opted to devote ourselves to the accessories. A lot of the garments bordered on «tacky». .. I’m no fashionista, but I cringed a little bit combing through the racks. I mean, it is definitely more affordable than the other boutiques on Guadalupe, but still kind of pricey for the cheapy quality of the stuff. Anyway, pretty cute earrings, at least! Kind of arbitrarily priced, it seemed, as there were no price tags affixed anywhere and we just had to ask the salesladies how much each separate pair cost.
But yeah — I realize this is probably a legitimate concern of theirs, being optimally located on Guadalupe with all sorts of rift raft cycling in and out of their store, but I’d like to think that my friend I were looking rather snazzy and a little too mature for all that, but you know what they what happens when you «assume!» Poor «ume». .. always being picked on. The nearby sales lady wasn’t being very discreet about her surveillance. It’s cool — you gotta do what you gotta do, but it made me feel icky on the inside. Sheesh.
I kind of want to give this place two stars because of the terrible selection, but in light of our other horrifically bad experience with C. Jane, I’m inclined to give this place at least three stars because at least the obsessively suspicious employees didn’t do something asinine, like leave a security sensor on something (no need for security sensors when you train your employees to be hardcore EAGLE EYE-​RS!).

ehh. I haven’t been in here for a couple years so it might be getting better but it was pretty bad last time I was in… the girls were unexcited, unfriendly, unhelpful, unanything to be quite honest. hopefully those chicks got fired. clothes were ok, some good stuff can be found if you’ve got a keen eye. i’ll have to drop in again soon and see if its gotten any better.

No. Just no. They have a way of having all these cute colorful dresses displayed in the window, but when you walk into the store, 90% of the clothing is cheap and tacky looking but extremely expensive. I bought a knit dress here three years ago for $ 40 and the seams started coming apart after the first couple of wears. Of course they have a final sale policy on dresses. I bought a very similar dress at Forever 21 to replace it which was the same quality and only cost me $ 15. I bought a tube top at Papaya for $ 17 and saw the SAME EXACT one at Manju’s for $ 38. I bought a belt at Agaci for $ 7 and saw similar ones at Manju’s for $ 16.
I also don’t like how you can’t carry a backpack or large purse around the store. I understand they don’t want shoplifters, but how am I supposed to feel comfortable shopping if I feel like I’m being eyed the whole time because they assume I might shoplift?
Bottom line: If you you’re the type to buy trendy, inexpensive, lower quality clothes (because you know it won’t be in style next year) go to Forever 21, Papaya, or Agaci. The only reason why I think anyone would want to step foot into Manju’s is if they desperately need a certain clothing item and have no other way whatsoever of hitting the mall.

Manju… stopped me dead in my tracks. Its a nickname for someone that was very near to my heart. I liked this place because it reminded me of the boutiques in sacramento. It was the store that only store all 5 of us girls bought something from.
Being able to speak hindi I realized someone indian must own the place for it to be named Manju’s and from Stephanie M’s post it seems Kavita (poetry) is the owner of the store… awesome!
Compared to other stores on the drag, Manju’s has the most decent prices. Students are broke and need to be fashionable on a budget and this store provides just that!

Not even kidding that the bright colors in the window hooked my faux-​ADD and drew me into the store. Lots of orange and white (hook ‘em Horns!).
Overall, I found a lot of the pieces to be über-​trendy but not seem to be of the best quality. Nothing like you’d find on Fordham Road (fellow Bronxites/​Fordhamites, I know you feel me). Prices weren’t what you’d find on Fordham Road either — much, much steeper.
I ended up settling on a gorgeous headband with peacock feather going up the side. It ran me $ 16 and change with tax. Definitely a great value since I plan on wearing it just about everyday.
Probably wouldn’t go back next time I’m in Austin.

Manju… weird name. I’m sure it means something very trendy. Boutiqe styles without the super high boutique prices. Found some cute stuff. However, a few months later seams are starting to unravel and what not.
Staff was friendly. Place was packed. But in the end, you get what you pay for. I’ll go there again, but I’ll think of it the same way I do Forever 21 – very temporary.

Manju’s is an adorable store on the Drag. Cute clothes & great prices. The owner, Kavita is super helpful and the girls that work there can always find Jewelry to match an outfit! Great accessories & Great clothes!

All I can remember about this place is the smell.
Oh god the smell… curry. Like how India itself smells, you may love curry but no one can ever say that India smells good.
The stuff was cute… ish but the smell was horrific. I might go back someday when I completely lose my sense of smell.

Because I’ve done so myself many times, I would imagine that most people overlook Manju’s on Guadalupe for the larger, more attention-​getting retail outfits neighboring the small store.
Manju’s specializes in women’s clothing. You’ll find a varied and colorful selection of tops, skirts and dresses. I urge you not to overlook this store, as you’re just as likely (or more so) to find a deal here than anywhere else in the area.
My only frustration is with the racks and racks of clothing in no particular categorization. While some will find beauty in this, I simply don’t have the patience. However… on a good day, I’d venture to guess that I could find some very cute, in-​style dresses in this little galleria. Might be an ideal stop if you’re in search of the perfect dress to wear to your cousin’s wedding or your little brother’s bar mitzvah. Manju’s loves sales and the average price of a dress is about $ 39. Not bad.
Take the time at Manju’s…you might surprise yourself AND your pocketbook.
Manju’s is pretty magnificent.
