DISAPPOINTED. That sums up our assessment of a three night stay at this property.
The room: Lovely view of Lake Travis. Ugly view of mold encrusted bathroom faucet and dust clogged exhaust vent. Housekeeping failures were remedied after we complained.
Restaurant: We have never had such miserable service in 50+ years of worldwide business and personal travel. After a very long wait for our food order, the server explained the kitchen was trying to make sure our simple order of chicken, salad and soup was perfectly prepared. Yet another staff member admitted, «the ticket was lost.» Finally another waiter had the audacity to say that he could tell that our party was in a bad mood when we arrived. At that point, I left the restaurant after losing my appetite. We found uneven service at the front desk with some personnel woefully uninformed about the amenities and services while others went out of their way to be helpful. We do compliment Lakeway resort for offering a lovely pool area that provides attractions for all ages.

I’ll start by saying the condo was beautiful but the compliment ends there. Somehow they could never the right door key to work for the entire stay so I was constantly asking my roommate to let me in and out. The welcome document clearly stated no internet password was needed… Wrong. And the front desk did not know what to do. You needed to be an engineer to get the bedroom TV to work. Housekeeping left the condo door unlocked after they were done. The view is gorgeous, the dinner was good and despite it all the staff is very friendly and tries hard.

To summarize my personal experience with this place. it’s HORRIBLE and my advise is to stay away and find another place to enjoy your time off .
we got tricked by some of the reviews and decided to spend our (memorial weekend) at this location and were excited to get there …
let me explain why this place should be shutdown in my opinion .
1. the place smelled so bad beyond reason.
we asked about the smell, they said that they put some kind of a manure all over the property… why would anybody do that on a busy weekend like this !!! beyond me.
2. Our room had bugs. (on the wall and ceiling).
we told the front desk and they apologized and said that the manager will call us … NOBODY CALLED .
3. we couldn’t sleep because of the noise.
They put us on the fourth floor and we found out (the hardway) that if they put you on any floor that is close to the hallway then forgot about sleeping (days and nights).
we called the front desk and they offered to downgrade us to a room with no view or one with no balcony, they apologized and told us that the manager will call us. NOBODY CALLED.
4. we ate at their restaurant and that was the worst thing we’ve done.
we didn’t read the reviews about their restaurant (we should have) and decided to eat there. we got sick for almost two days (vomiting and stomach issues) .
we told the front desk so they can investigate as this is sound like food poisoning, they apologized and took our phone number then said that the manager will call us and NOBODY CALLED.
I can’t believe that these people are permitted to waste our holiday and time off like that and nobody can do anything but a simple review. I really hated every moment there.

Everything was great! The staff was so accommodating and I have to say especially Joe. We didn’t ask for anything but Joe overheard that it was our anniversary and had a bottle of champagne and some chocolate covered strawberries sent to our room. He made our trip extra special for my wife and I. The water slide was the best! Even if we were the only adults sliding down with all the kids on Memorial Day weekend. We will definitely be back. Housekeeping even wrote us a really nice note after our first day there. Something you would never expect and it just shows how focused this place is in making sure the guests get top notch service.

My experience with Lakeway resort was extremely successful! As a meeting planner for my company I could not be more happy with the level of service and professionalism that I experienced with Sarah Wilson and Alexandra Folden in the sales department. My team came back with great reviews. The rooms were comfortable beautiful clean and the staff at the hotel very helpful. The meeting room space was set up as requested and the food was great. The resort is beautiful and the views were amazing!

F*** Lakeway Resort & Spa and Prabha for not letting me cancel my reservations 48 hrs ahead of time. I frequently booked here for business travel and referred all my co workers. I’ll be staying at Sonesta due to Prabha s***** service. You guys lost my loyalty F******. Due yourself a favor and stay at the new 2016 Sonesta hotel.

We celebrated my birthday weekend at Lakeway Resort. The view from our room was great and the water slide was a blast but it went downhill from there.
— We ate at the pool and their onsite restaurant and found the food to be mediocre at best and overpriced. When I tried to close out our bill at the pool, the waitress informed me that there was nothing to sign because they add an automatic 21% gratuity.
–The adult pool was so cold that couples with no children had to join the families in the kiddy pool. The couples were all polite and had a good sense of humor about being forced into the splash zone. I would expect a resort of this caliber to keep their pools heated to a comfortable temperature so adults can enjoy adult time without being forced to join the kiddy pool.
–Every time the air came on in our room (about every 30 minutes), a loud clicking bell went off and woke us up. I tried adjusting the air in the middle of the night but the dinging went on all night so we woke up exhausted.
–In spite of being tired, we thought a game of tennis sounded fun. We were disappointed to learn that tennis is an extra fee. There was a kid zone that looked fun but you guessed it, that’s another charge. Not only do the kids have to pay, the parents get charged as well.
Our last family staycation was at the Hyatt Lost Pines and there was no comparison whatsoever. We paid significantly less money to stay at Lost Pines and all of this was included in the price (heated pools, lazy river, crafts for the kids, small zoo with handlers sharing about the animals, bicycles to ride, s’mores and night and a movie and popcorn under the starts). It was magical and the food was amazing! I acknowledge that the Lakeway Resort isn’t as geared towards children as Lost Pines but I challenge them to step up their game. Very disappointing stay at Lakeway Resort.

Overall, this property is decent. The food was good. The bed was comfy. The room was hot and muggy and the AC didn’t cool it off much.
Room service is strange– it comes to you in a cardboard box with plastic silverware and paper cups.
If you are traveling here from out of town, you need to know that there is no Über service in the area, taxis are not readily available and they charge to come and get you PLUS take you wherever you’re going. There’s an onsite «limo» service that must be scheduled in advance but no one tells you that until you go to make arrangements. It’s $ 75 flat fee to the airport. Also– the man running the onsite «limo» service is rude and acted like I was crazy for asking to go to the airport.

Horrible check-​in!!! After a 3 hour drive all you want to do is be able to quickly check in and relax. Prior to getting there one of our family members was able to check in one of the rooms I book. They did ensure us that there were two under my reservation. Once I got there the front desk guy name Brandon told us that the room was already check in but there was only one on file. He was no help and I had to contact Expedia myself!!! After being on hold for 30 mins they had a room ready for us. No explanation to what happen!!! We was already short on schedule and had to rush to our event!!! My sil room on the other hand wasn’t ready at 4 like they say it would be!!! After complaining and waiting… they had a room. For the price we pay their service was bad to begin with!

One star for the view (perfect view of the lake). The room was large and we had a spacious deck which we rally enjoyed. One star for the employees who were so much better than this place. They were unfailingly polite. A special shout out to Madelyn, our breakfast waitress. Those of you who follow my reviews know that I really value good service. Madelyn was super accommodating and took good care of everyone in our party.
Now on to the negatives. Some of these are petty (I know) but I expected a generally positive experience at a nice resort and this was not.
— When we arrived, our room smelled like smoke. It turned out that even though this is a non-​smoking resort, people were smoking on the patio and it got into our room. I absolutely hate the smell of smoke sod this made me unhappy.
— Toilet paper holder was broken. I might overlook this but the tp was falling off. We told the front desk who seemed very concerned. The desk clerk wrote a note and I thought it would be fixed. We were there four nights and it was never fixed.
— Coffee machine was on top of bar but there was no electricity there. Had to take machine across room to operate. Coffee was good.
— No book in room telling about hotel amenities, etc. You know the book I mean — it tells you about onsite restaurants, workout facilities, any services and events. This seems important to me at a resort. But nope, nothing. Not even a list of phone numbers. Not even one of those little notes asking us to be «earth friendly» by not washing towels every day.
— No magnifying mirror in the bathroom.
— First night in room — about 5:00 am — tv on in bar and it was waking us all up.
— second night in room — about 4:00ish — fire alarm starts beeping — you know that sound they make when the battery is low. Anyway, at first we were trying to ignore it. Our little girl was sleeping soundly (she can sleep through a barking dog — I know — amazing sleep power) and we didn’t want to wake her up. Finally we just had a had enough and we called the front desk. Oh, they don’t have anyone there to fix things until 7:00 in the morning! We asked about emergencies. This felt like an emergency to us. Nope, no one. We couldn’t reach the alarm ourselves because it was way up high (by the ceiling). Anyway, we finally talked the desk clerk into coming to see what he could do. Again, nothing. He said he would send someone when the maintenance people arrived. We went out and enjoyed our day. Hamilton Pool did not disappoint. When we returned I thought all would be fixed. Nope, walked into the room to, you guessed it, beeping. Annoying beyond my limit.
There are so many nice hotels and resorts in the Austin/​Hill Country area. Please, please go to one of those.

Our Valentine’s weekend was incredible. Rachel Smith was very accommodating from the time I booked our stay on January 14, 2016. I called the resort to ensure my reservation went through online. Rachel sent me a copy of my reservation and a hyperlink to all their spa services. Rachel is an amazing worker with best customer service skills. She was very patient and greeted us with a smile.
When we arrived at the resort on February12, 2016 at 1:00 pm and our room was not ready yet. We waited patiently in the lobby for 25 minutes. I was not feeling we because my sinuses combined with allergies were bothering me. About 20 minutes later I decided to walk up to the check in counter and ask if our room was ready yet. Me and my husband Andrew wanted to start off our Valentine’s weekend early. Rachel kindly told me the rooms are generally available at 4:00 pm. She gave us a card for 2 complimentary drinks at the bar.
Another coworker from the resort walked up to the counter named Melisa. Rachel asked Melisa if there were any rooms available. Melisa had a floor plan of all the rooms and their status. She told me if we could wait 5 – 10 minutes while she checked on a room for us. Melisa was back within 3 minutes. She said with a friendly smile, I found a room for you on a higher floor. She said Rachel will get you checked. We thanked Melisa for finding us a room because we were excited to kick off our Valentine’s weekend.
When we arrived at room 504. We were extremely happy. The balcony lake view was unbelievable. Melisa and Rachel upgraded us to a beautiful romantic Mansfield Suite. That afternoon we were able to relax and take in a swim in the heated pool. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and the beautiful sunset. We were excited to kick off our Marriage Retreat on Saturday afternoon. Every time we passed Rachel at the lobby she always smiled and greeted us. We thoroughly enjoyed the 2 day stay at the resort. We will cherish our memories of this stay.
We look forward to coming back to the resort for many years to come. We will tell all of our friends and family of our wonderful experience. We hope to stay at the resort next year.

We had a Lakeview with Balcony room and we would have been so upset if we didn’t get the balcony. We spent a lot of time out there. The weather (over Valentine’s Day weekend) was perfect. The heated pool and hot tubs were very appreciated. Our room was clean!
The ladies who checked us in on Feb. 13 were very patient. They had to deal with some uncalled for behavior.
First, a couple who said that they should have been guaranteed a higher floor for the price. The wife argued and then demanded that they give up someone’s room who hadn’t checked in yet (keep in mind this was 3:30 p.m., still before you are supposed to be able to check in anyway). The ladies politely explained they couldn’t do that. The woman was rude and irrational. Love was not in the air.
Second, a terribly disrespectful man approached the desk. I couldn’t hear the entire conversation but he used some foul language toward one of the ladies and the manager (I’m assuming) said, «Please do not talk to my employee that way. Be respectful.» The man started yelling, «I AM THE CUSTOMER. You have to be polite to me. I can talk to you however I want. What are you going to do about it?» The manager answered «If you cannot be respectful I can ask you to leave the property.» The man seemed more irritated by that and started daring them to ask him to leave. The women handled this better than I ever could have, and even calmed him down. The manager seemed a little shaky after his immature stunt, but I tried to cheer her up.
We didn’t eat at the restaurant (Make reservations if you plan to!) but we had dinner just 10 mins away at this amazing place called Fore.
Explore the property! It is stunning.

The property was beautiful, I just wish we had more time to explore it as it was just a 1 night stay. My only complaint was the back patio bartender I think her name was Natalie, was completely drunk and unprofessional. She kept complaining about the vouchers that the hotel gave us for 2 complimentary drinks. She acted like it was the greatest tragedy in the world if she poured us a jack and coke and dirty martini for my lady. We went round and round instead of just fixing the problem and making sure she earned a good tip and a happy customer. Thank god my girl has a sense of humor… we left SANS DRINK, and made her and that situation the butt of our jokes the rest of the night. (That’s an inside joke, because when the bartender turned around to grab a bottle the crack of her ass was hanging out of her pants so haha right?)
Like I said this is a great place if you can avoid the drunk bartender

Lakeway Resort and Spa is an amazing resort hotel tucked away on scenic lake Travis. About 30 minutes from downtown Austins (or 90 minutes in rush hour lol) this beautiful lakeside setting is worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. With the water levels back up this summer, the lake is simply magnificent to just stare at and relax. For those who are more adventurous, the Marina located on inlet side has boat and jetski rentals, as well as party barge charters. Some local fishing guides also operate out of this marina if you are in search of freshwater trophies.
Lakeway Resorts rooms are spacious, updated and luxurious. The views from the lakeside are worth the price upgrade. The resort fee is annoying to say the least, however the internet is fast and free parking is nice.
The main restaurant and bar is a very large but intimate space. The drinks from the bar were expertly made with fast and friendly service. The food here however is in need of a major overhaul. I tired some brisket nachos that were nothing short of hideous. Think velveeta meets cheap BBQ sauce. The replacement cheeseburger was meh.
Overall, this is a great place to visit, and in the winter the rates are quite reasonable.

This was a beautiful resort, with a really cool pool deck and terrific views of Lake Travis. The people were very nice. The bars were warm and hospitable. And they have good conference facilities. Just be warned they are up in the Hill Country, so it’s a 45 minute ride into Austin for music. So not the place for a trip to Austin, but a perfect place to relax and enjoy the quiet and scenery.
There are white tail deer everywhere, and the lake is beautiful.
There are decent restaurants in the Hill Country, but the shuttle will only take you within 5 miles, and there is only one restaurant within that zone. That’s my only issue. (Über works, but give it time… and there are not many cabs. The resort does serve food, which isn’t bad.)

I am late writing this review… I hate being so negative about a local establishment but in the end we were so disappointed by our stay here that I have to share. We booked a room in October 2015 for Friday and Saturday nights to celebrate our 10-​year anniversary. I was 6 months pregnant at the time so we decided on a staycation (we live in Lakeway). We had never actually stayed at the resort before and were really looking forward to it but unfortunately it was hugely disappointing. Main complaints:
1. Room is small and bathroom looked like my college dorm bathroom. Small, outdated… which would be fine if we weren’t paying $ 300 a night. View of the lake was nice but didn’t make up for the room. Tv was small and there was no pay per view!!! We couldn’t even rent a movie on our weekend away.
2. Staff at front desk was aware before check-​in that we were celebrating a major anniversary. But aside from a «happy anniversary» from the front desk person, there was no consideration given. Room upgrade? Towel shaped like a heart on the bed? A few chocolates? I mean something would have been nice. Again, these are the things one expects when paying these prices.
3. I have two kids at home so when I am away from them staying in a resort, breakfast is a big deal. I wanted a lovely breakfast in bed with a chance to relax and drink my coffee… holy crap. I can’t even begin to explain how bad the room service was. We placed our order the night before… it shows up in the morning in two boxes (no trays, no waters… it looked like it had been picked up at a gas station). My coffee was in a styrofoam cup with the crappy little cups of creamer. My bagel with eggs was cold and rubbery and I’m serious when I say it was inedible. Grand total for this lovely breakfast was $ 69. I called and told them to come pick it back up and remove the charges because it was ridiculously bad. We got dressed and had to drive to another spot for breakfast. I was super pissed. More so when they never came to pick up the crappy breakfast ALL day even when they finally cleaned that afternoon. And even more so when I got our bill and saw we had been charged for it (had to call and AGAIN request it be removed).
4. Pool area is about the best thing about this place but even there it just wasn’t up to par… the menu for the swim up bar isn’t even laminated. It’s paper. So it’s soggy and impossible to read. I literally could not read any of the descriptions. But husband and I did enjoy people watching everyone who tried to order after us struggle with the same thing… I mean this is pretty simple right? Laminate your frickin’ drink menu!
5. We got a couples massage at the San Saba Spa (sigh). Wish I could say that was great but once again it was like Massage Envy quantity but we had the pleasure of paying $ 300 for it. Both of us were disappointed in the actual massages. I told my masseuse both on my intake form and in person that I wanted deep pressure… it was like he softest massage I’ve ever had. Deeply unsatisfying for a very pregnant lady. The outdoor balcony would be a great spot to sit and relax before /​after treatments if all the chairs didn’t have dirty cushions… looked like bird poop or something on them.
6. Like I said we booked Friday and Saturday nights because there was a two-​night minimum. After hanging out at the pool that afternoon we got dressed for dinner and I realized I had literally no desire to come back to my tiny room and tiny tv and sad bathroom when I could go home instead. So we left Saturday for dinner and didn’t come back. That’s how bad it was. I mean I was REALLY looking forward to a kid-​free weekend and we left a night early. Because without even having coffee to look forward to in the morning, what’s the point?
Totally agree with whomever said this was La Quinta quality. I wouldn’t be so disappointed if we hadn’t paid so much for the experience but this place is SO not worth what they charge. Total we paid over $ 1,000 for a two-​night stay (of which we old stayed one) and an hour-​long couples massage.

I have come here for several weddings, but I never stayed until this past October 2015 for a baby moon. We would have sprung for going to Mexico, but we were later in the third trimester.
The hotel — looks nice on the outside. I even have to say that I really liked the the slide with the pool in the back. We didn’t do room service because. .. well, it looked pretty plain. We went to a few restaurants in town instead. This resort is tucked away after you drive thru some Lakeway neighborhoods.
The room — this was pretty disappointing. One trash can. Yes — one total — not one in the bathroom and one in the living area. Whenever we hit our floor, the air smelled like they had too much soap still in the carpets. The thermostat/​fan was almost too sensitive. It would click on and back off in about 30 seconds to «maintain» the temperature. The door to the bathroom had a big layer of paint on the hinges and it would make a loud creak/​squeeking sound (should anyone have to use the bathroom while the other person is sleeping). The shower — it was your typical tub with a curtain that you’d find in a La Quinta.
For a resort, I was expecting a bigger shower, or some side sprays, or big enough to have a bench. My wife and I took our time and slept in a lot. So we called at 4:30pm for housekeeping to get us some new towels. I was told that they don’t have housekeeping past 4pm but they would see what they could do…
This bewildered me. I mean — what would you do if someone had a spill or puked in the hallway? I guess for me resort means service ²⁴⁄₇.
The Spa was alright. Their guy Jason was great for me as well as for my wife. Very accommodating for mommy massages (they can’t be on their backs). The front desk in person was great. Carolyn was really nice. Their phone staff — not so much. We tried to book over a month before our visit, and we were told to wait because they were coming out with some new packages. There were plenty of slots then. When I called again 2 weeks before our visit, they said they didn’t have packages but they could put our names down. There was only one 9am slot and there rest were like 5pm slots. .. They also didn’t have our names down from before. I believe the guy’s name that had a hard time finding our info’s name was Weston.
The pool — great — nice warm temp. Swim up bar. Nice staff there. It was good to get a drink without having to bring down your wallet.
The view — great. A nice view of the lake. From my room, I had a few deer come up to the outside balcony. For being the middle of October, the place wasn’t that full.
Would I come again? Probably not. Aside from having an onsite spa, I think I’d sleep just as well as the local Hampton Inn or La Quinta Inn where there is free breakfast. Nice try, Lakeway Spa and Resort, but you have a ways to go before calling yourself a real resort. ..

The three-​level resort pool (including swim-​up bar) is what keeps Lakeway Resort at the top of my list for staycations. For about $ 150+/night, you can get some rest and relaxation without having to travel far away from Austin.
Things I love about my stay:
+Very spacious rooms, even for the «cheapest» room type
+The view of the lake is stunning… especially recently with the higher water levels
+Many comfortable community spaces to read, work, or grab a bar drink… including The Back Porch that leads into a lake-​facing patio with rocking chairs
+The pool is never crowded, even on weekends
Things that are «meh»:
–Their «hillside view» room is really a «parking lot view» room; book a room with lake view if you can manage it. The difference is significant.
–The pool area always ends up being lightly littered with empty plastic cups and used towels by late afternoon; not sure why they don’t have a better system of quickly scanning the area for trash that gets blown around by the breeze
–On weekdays, the pool bartenders seem to be pretty checked out… resulting in non-​existent service (probably due to lower occupancy across the resort)
I imagine this would also be a fun place to have a girls’ weekend or bachelorette party.

Great Hotel and Spa. Pools are cool! They have a children pool area and an Adult side. Also has a poolside bar. Rooms are spacious, especially if u get a view of lake.
Cons: some of signs in hotel are a little confusing, like Mastersons restaurant is wrong.
Mastersons is a nice restaurant but Dinner menu is limited and slightly pricey. $ 25 for 8oz steak.

We went for spring break on a combined business/​fun trip.
There were a few issues with attention to detail which I brought to the managers attention. He responded quickly and I hope they take those items into consideration.
We were very happy with our experience — my son loved the pool and my husband loved the daily happy hour. The room was lovely and very spacious!
My son forgot his bear, I called house keeping who responded right away and shipped it back the same day.
We also rented a boat from their marina and were very happy with the service there too.
Overall I would recommend the hotel for a get away or business conference.
