La Quinta Inn & Suites Austin Southwest at Mopac

I have stayed in this hotel several times over the years because I am in the area from time to time. I stay in a lot of LaQuinta’s because they are always pet friendly. I recently stayed there again and it seems they are letting the place go. The hotel is supposed to be 100% non-​smoking. I had to sign something when I checked in that agreed to the no smoking policy and there are signs in the elevators that say that smokers will be fined $ 250 and immediately evicted. However, when I got to my room, the hallway smelled of smoke. It was obvious that the people in the room across the hall were smoking in their room. I told the front desk and they said they would look into it. I never heard anything more and have no reason to think they did anything. The room was reasonably clean when we first got there. However, when we got back to the room on the second day, only one of the 2 beds had been made. I have no explanation for why they didn’t make the second bed. All-​in-​all, the stay wasn’t horrible. It was just not great either. The hotel needs to be updated for the price. I will probably stay here again, but only because of the location.

Wow very surprised at this place! Let me start off by saying the front desk clerk was SUPER NICE! It was a long day and it was nice walking in and having a nice greeting!
Now for the problem… I walked in and it smelled like mold, didn’t think much of it since I was tired and thought it was me just smelling things. Walked into the wash room (yes they have a wash room) see the ice machine looks moldy so I skip the ice. Then get back in my room to shower and there is black mold in the tub (posted pictures). I know this not a 5 star hotel but now I wonder how clean this place really is. Before you get comfortable in your room please inspect it.

In Austin on business. Company had deal with hotel so I chose it. Sorry I did. First, put me in handicap room. Leak in Shower sprayed water all bathroom. Switched rooms. No problem doing that.
Second room was OK, but noticed when I got back they hadn’t even wiped down the sink!
Pay a little more and stay somewhere nicer next time. Going to recommend that company take them off list.

Very expensive for a very low-​end room. The bed was very bad. Horrible for backs. I think the only way I managed to sleep on it was because of the pillows, kinda made a bed out of those.
Why is this the same price as the Omni hotel? We would have gone there if it wasn’t already booked.
We didn’t really deal with the employees too much, but what interactions we had with them were positive.

I love going to LaQuinta but after this I’m not so sure anymore. I was really disappointed. The staff was really nice and I hate to give such review but they really need to find new management. The place is falling apart! Paint is peeling. There’s a whole wall by the back entrance that is dilapidated. The ice machine is just NASTY. There’s black stuff around it… im pretty sure there would be slime in there too. The room is not bad but there’s definitely some wear and tear with the furnitures and the doors but I draw the line with freakishly dirty towels and showers. The towel looks like somebody rolled their face on cheetos and wiped it using one side of the towel. It was neatly folded pristine and viola on the other side utterly disgusting. Naasty!!! Hope they change things around here.

It is rare that I will take the time to write a review… In fact this is my first but I feel it is necessary this time.
This morning I woke up to two cars that were broken into the previous night at this hotel. The accommodations are a B– at best and here is the cherry on the sundae.
Tonight when my wife and I arrived after dinner our keys no longer would open the hotel door. Ok no big deal. Had keys reprogrammed and it still won’t open.
Oh did I mention that I’m holding my infant daughter who is sleeping in my arms?
Got the hotel master key and the door still won’t open. Apparently the battery in the lock is dead.
Neither the front desk attendant nor the manager, who is obviously not on site, can figure out how to open the door.
I find it hard to believe that this has never happened before and that staff is not trained on how to deal with this sort of thing.
If U plan on staying here beware…

Smells like mold and crap and it’s really small and out dated. Never again. I have stayed at other hotels like this but this is the worst

125 $ for 1 night and this is low standards for that price!!. rooms and bathrooms need to b upgraded. water prwssure was low and rooms carpet smelled «dusty» if that makes sense! breakfast was a joke, serving cold hardboiled eggs and texas waffles, o. j and coffee. really would of stayed somewher else if i could do it over again. to end on a good note the staff at the location was nice!

I am updating this review because we had to go stay somewhere one night about a week ago. I am updating my review because the staff was wonderful. The kind, professional woman treated us well and went above and beyond for customer service. The hotel is no longer under construction, and the room leaves a lot to be desired. However, I am giving one more star because of the excellence of the staff.

Ok, I get that you can’t expect 4 Seasons service at a La Quinta. But wouldn’t you think a clean room, clean sheets and towels and a bar of soap is fair to expect from even the most basic hotel/​motel? When we arrived, exhausted, our room had NOT been cleaned (6:00 PM) – sheets on both beds dirty, wet towels on the floor, no soap in the bathroom, even pubic hairs in the tub and on the floor. We went back to the front desk and the young man said he was sorry but he was the only one on duty and he would clean it up for us when he could. We left for dinner, came back and found ONE of the beds had been more or less made, a stack of towels on the toilet, but still no soap or shampoo.
Ok, everyone gets one mistake. The next day I got back to the hotel at 6:45 after a long hard day, ready for a hot shower and it was STILL NOT CLEAN. I went to the front desk and same guy said, well you had a loose cat in the room. I don’t own a cat, I have two small dogs who were both with me all day. He gave me some fresh towels and a bar of soap. It’s really gross here. We thought we’d save a little money by staying here instead of somewhere nicer. Never Again.

Clean rooms, great staff… AC works, free computer to print my boarding passes. The 3 stars as due to the slamming doors that kept waking me up every time ANYONE within a 10 door radius came and went which was often. Trying to take a nap was impossible when the cleaning ladies did not prop the doors open and the doors slammed every 5 minutes. Seriously a flaw here.

I was not impressed at all. My first room was dirty. Grime and dirt all over the bathroom The clerk gave me another room at my request only to find the second room hadn’t been serviced at all. Towels all over the floor and the bed hadn’t even been made. The third room, which finally came with an apology, had a dead bug on the floor. After all of that complaining, you would have thought I would have come back on Day 2 to the most spotless hotel room ever. Nope – the room hadn’t been serviced at all (they tried to blame me for having a DND sign on my door — which I did, but which was removed at 9 AM). Day 3 (after another day of complaints), the soiled bed was made, but not changed; the room was not vaccumed or wiped down, and the towels were removed but not replaced. After a call to the GM, she did apologize and ended up giving me the entire stay for free. She invited me back for an additional free night but I’m not sure I could do it. There are several cheaprer or equally priced hotels in the area that are newer and more professional that LQ. For $ 125/​night you should expect way more than what you get. The hotel looks old, outdated, and clearly doesn’t follow through on expectations or promises. Spend your dollars elsewhere.

Aesthetically & functionally this place is ok. But good luck finding it if you’re using GPS! My friend & I drove in circles & kept calling until the front desk girl had the foresight to mention that their address could not be found on GPS!!!
When we finally got there & suggested they put a notice about their GPS issue on their website the front desk clerk blew us off & said «I doubt La Quinta would let us do that» and never once apologized for the confusion nor tried to make us feel welcome, even though it wad obvious we were exhausted from the drive from Dallas & looked frazzled. She was flat out insensitive & did not embody the characteristics someone working in customer service should have. Oh but she did make sure to remind that the place was completely booked, I assume so that we shouldn’t expect special treatment since we asked her to make sure we were in a nice room where we could certainly rest.
Bottom line, if you can take your money somewhere else that offers the same logistics, do so! It will be worth it!
