Alina P.

Business Owner

Alina Prax was born in a tiny Swiss village amidst blue skies and snow-​capped mountains. At the age of five her family relocated to the U.S. but Alina’s travels had just begun.

One day while sitting in a café in Berlin, her home between College and reality, she found herself positioning her thumbs and forefingers to create a frame around a couple sitting on a nearby bench. The spark for capturing images was ignited and that passion continues to shine through in her wedding images today.

After receiving a degree in photography at the Art Institute of Colorado she fell for a winsome Texan, and fourth eneration rancher. With their sweet-​as-​pecan-​pie daughter, they now make Austin their home.

Alina speaks five languages – handy for destination weddings or transcontinental couples – and loves working with her clients in Austin, Zurich or anywhere in between.

I found Alina just searching online for a wedding photographer, and I am so glad I found her! She did our engagement and wedding photography, and it was such a pleasure working with her (in fact my profile pic is one she shot). She is incredibly talented — every single shot comes out looking gorgeous! She made everything so smooth and easy on the wedding day, and handled all of the group family shots perfectly. She is so fun to work with as well. I loved seeing her get genuinely excited by the shots she’s taking, and her enthusiasm is contagious. She added so much to our wedding day!

My husband and I were referred to Alina by our wedding coordinator, Suzanne Court. Suzanne showed us beautiful photos from a previous wedding and we were both blown away by their beauty and Alina’s ability to take photos without getting in the way of the events. When we first met Alina, she was warm, friendly, and easy to talk to. She seemed as excited to photograph our wedding as we were to have it! In addition to Alina’s superb professionalism, she went out of her way to negotiate an estimate that was within our budget.
During the wedding Alina was very excited to be there and celebrate with us — she put us at ease and made everyone excited for the wedding! We were both impressed by the fact that Alina knew all of our wedding party by name and worked through our photo request list meticulously and in a timely manner. She also let the event speak for itself and took photos that inspired her.
During the reception she got great candid shots and photos of our friends and family. Everyone who attended the wedding seemed to truly enjoy their experience with Alina.
The best part about working with Aina (in addition to her awesome personality!) was the end product: the photos were AMAZING!!! We kept joking that it must have been some other wedding because everyone looked so good. She got shots that we didn’t see her take, and truly captured the feeling of the day. She made the photos easy to access and share online and got the digital copies to us faster than expected.
I highly recommend working with Alina and La Dolce Vita photography. Alina truly loves the art of photography and capturing the moments in life that you want to remember forever.

When choosing a wedding photographer, what can help one decide among all the talented choices? I’m a firm believer that the quality of online photo galleries are only 20% of determining a good fit. When it comes down to it, you need someone with experience and composure that can handle the pressure of the wedding day. This professional will be with the bride and the groom more than anyone when the stakes are the highest.
Alina is as smooth a photographer as they come. Not only does her work speak for itself, but her personality facilitates a calming experience for the couple. Alina can be delightfully assertive and work against a time crunch to direct family in taking their portraits without leaving everyone feeling bossed around.
Then, for the ceremony and reception, she can seamlessly flow throughout the events, documenting the emotion without obtrusively inserting herself into the scene. Guests get to experience the sacredness of the vows and the excitement of the party without feelings of intrusion. I have been to many weddings, and most photographers do not have this manner about them.
So when choosing a wedding photographer, certainly, find photographs that move you, but also ask HOW those images were achieved. Did the photographer work within the context of the show, or did they have to become a show unto themselves? I can assure you that Alina is the former, and you will be pleased in hiring her.

Alina of La Dolce Vita just shot our engagement and wedding photos. She’s really funny and easy to work with – very good at managing crowds of people. We loved her aesthetic, which is playful and original, and also very pretty – and so flattering to the subjects! :-) We were incredibly nervous at the engagement shoot, stiffly grinning like maniacs, and she was really good at making us relax so that we got some great photos. We can’t wait to see the wedding pictures!
